After today's episode, i think Sona's options are limited..
1. Take a divorce immediately, now that she know that Ishwari's love was conditional.
That option was always there. Dev has that option and so does Sonakshi. From their wedding night they have had that option. Ishwari's love has nothing to with this couple's decision to spend their lives together and the day Sonakshi realises this, life with be simpler for both of them. Notice, I say simple, I don't say kind. Life wont be kind to them unless Dev gets out of the Ishwari-cage
Dev hasn't seen many successful marriages around him. Sonakshi on the other hand grew in the shelter of one. They are both however lousy life-partners. Are they perfect soulmates? Would Ritwick and Sona & Dev and Natasha been better life partners even though they weren't soulmates?
That night on 30th Dec when they both comforted each other, I did a happy dance. They both were talking... yippee. They had a plan. They even referred to their childhood lessons (Sona spoke about how she was brought up to succeed and Dev said bad times don't last). They acknowledged each other's pain and disappointments. It was pure bliss.
Then what went wrong in the New Year 2017? Things went wrong the wedding night. That night, Dev wanted to make Devakshi a couple while Sonakshi refused his advances because she was irked that she has an uphill task becoming a Dixit bahu. If there is a couple whose wavelength matches perfectly but on two different planes, its devakshi.
You know if Neha had found Ishwari in that temple, what would she have done? She would have called her bhai. Anyone aside from Dev would have done exactly that. They couldn't get Ishwari to give up Samosas for once! The only person who can handle Ishwari's unfair behaviours is Dev. What Sonakshi has unknowingly been doing is getting in that line of fire.
Another big issue Sonakshi has is, till her relationship with Ishwari was their own without involving Dev, everything was fine. The moment Dev gets involved, things go wrong for Ishwari.
Dev sees Sonakshi and him as a unit. If Ishwari is his God, he believes it's the same for Sonakshi too. He cannot yet understand that Sonakshi has the same limitation as Neha. Ishwari doesn't see anyone in the same place as Dev. The baby mirage had blinded everyone for a while. That's all. All the chess pieces are back in their place now
So, are they good JEEVANSATHIs? Dev has looked for JeevanSathi for Dr Bose. Ishwari has asked Dev to become a good JeevanSathi to Sonakshi. Asha has seen a good Jeevan Sathin Dev for Sonakshi. I think they are all wrong. Dev and Sonakshi are not good JeevanSathis to each other. Because, they are not in sync. They don't talk. They don't communicate. They are soulmates and have a long way to go before they can become a good life partner to each other.
2. Rebel against Dev and make his life hell.. for not even bothering to listen to her
How can she do that?
Not let him touch her in the bedroom? We know Dev is lover-seducer tres bien.
Blackmail him? Intimidate him somehow - she can't.
Throw tantrums - he will bear it all before Ishwari finds out and throws the jhula out
He has infact made matters worse by give Rs 5 cr to Bose nutrition. Sonkashi doesn't know and when Dixits find out imagine the drama
The only 'control' she has on Dev is her kindness and niceties. She is a nice person. Dev loves that person and I can't see how she can ever rebel against him. He didnt even let her have a clean break-up(which is partly why he is so pyar main pagal. But so is Sonakshi Pyar main kamzor)
3. Give all the silent treatment. (just ignore all and make Dev feel guilty as hell)
Well, she could do an Elena... now that she has already tried to be friends with everyone in this family and failed. She did not take much flak from mamiji. She gave her right back on the day of muh dikhai closely supported by her husband and mother in law. She can try that. All that is going to result in is more verbal abuse. Her relationship with her husband(and vice versa) needs mending. Involving families isn't going to work
i am not able to think of any other option.
The challenge for Sonakshi is she needs to stop trying to become bahu number one. This is actually a very strong message in there for all the young brides out there. This isn't a 60 second data download. Stop trying to become the apple of your in-laws' eye. Even if your husband's life would be less brutal as a result of that, first settle in the new home, make sure you and your husband communicate loads and then become Tarla-dalal, byomkesh bakshi, Jackie chan and the rest. Easier said than done. But sonakshi's yearning for her MIL's love has in some ways led to this mess
So the only option Sonakshi has is to keep doing what they did on 30th Dec - talk talk talk. Keep talking
The episode was very crisp and editing was excellent today..not a dull moment, even with the Ishwari drama.
Erica's expression and voice just added to the intense feelings that most of the audience would have felt for Sona today.
Felt bad for Dev.. waiting for his character to grow, he still seems to be in his diapers when it comes to ishwari.
Just a note on that. Dev doesn't wear diapers. He carries a Tulsi Kanthi mala and chants his God's name 24x7. His God happens to be his lover's mother-in-law. This is where it gets complicated
Should he have spoken to Bijoy the way he did - No
Should Bijoy have spoken about Ishwari the way he did - No
Should Dev ask Bijoy to excuse him for his behaviour - yes
Should Bijoy ask forgiveness to Ishwari - No - why - because mamiji was accusing his daughter of deception when the person who accepted and indeed did deceive his loved ones is Dev.
