Yes, it is. It's not about Ishwari or Sonakshi or Devakshi. Last 2 weeks have been all about Dev. He is the focal point and the whole show is revolving around him at the moment. And I think it's by design. Why do I say so? Because if you look back and reflect on what has happened since that night of the SRK style dance and more importantly since Dev found out about sonakshi's diagnosis before the wedding, it's been all about how Dev responds to this particular curveball.

Now some housekeeping rules.

1. Let's leave logic at the doors. There have been umpteen times we have had to do that. Let's do it one more time. There was no logical reason why Dev didn't call Dr Bose's family or his family who were both walking distance away when Dr Bose met with an accident some 6 months ago. There was no logical reason why Sonakshi didn't call Elena when she was locked inside her boyfriend's room at neha's wedding or used the staircase leading to the courtyard. So this time as well some logical points don't match up. Makers have been sloppy and I suppose we need to overlook

2. We are still on Day 2 since the morning when Sonakshi got queasy. How can I be so sure? Check people's costumes

a. Day 1 was when she got queasy. They had that dhol and meal. Dev had his little chat with Mr God.

b. And we are in Day 2 where she tested -ve for pregnancy, Dev had his Deewar style chat with Mr God, Sonakshi Byomkesh Bakshi went and video-ed aayan-khushi, sas bahu Jodi number 1 went and broke the alliance, Sona had intense tummy ache and Dev had a faceoff with Aayan

So that explains why Sonkashi has probably not had her period yet.

3. The doctors on this show seem to be breaking every confidentiality law out there. All of this happens in bits and pieces around us I am sure. But for all of this to happen with one person all the time is getting too much to digest and I am choosing to ignore for this post

4. We have seen enough crimes being committed on this show - arson, theft, stalking... None of them were challenged or reported to the police and so the person doing them got away with it.

So, let's talk about why this track is about Dev.

The irony of current day is, Dev is (by himself) likely doing exactly what devkashi could have done together - get a second opinion (the lady doctor who sent Dev to get Sona's signature is 2nd opinion indeed) and start the treatment to get Sonakshi pregnant and carry to term.

Let's remind ourselves of Kushal Roy. Sonakshi was going to reject that proposal before Mr Dixit rudely interrupted and made a real mess of it. Let's remind ourselves why Ishwari was so upset when she found her son was in love. Dev took away the choice element in one case and didn't share the news timely in the second. Dev had said to sonakshi that the reason she was upset is because she didn't get to reject Kushal. And similarly Ishwari had been saying to Dev since Natasha track that she is with him in all his decisions but when she found Dev was hiding about his affair she got very upset because again Dev told her when it was too late(according to her he would tell her the moment he meets his Miss Right).

If you are still with me, this is why I think this track is about Dev building this huge iron wall around him and maintaining it. Miss Bose was the only person who had penetrated it and now she too has been sent back to the 'outside' world. Why? Because she is Mrs Dixit now. ie she is part of the group of people who when give Dev the signs they are happy, he maintains their little cocoon (e.g. giving sameer 30% of his company). He is still doing what devakshi would potentially have done together to deal with the uterus issue. Ishwari will potentially again blast off as soon as she will find out how long this has been going on for (2 days for the -ve news but a few months since Dev knew re the uterus). She won't care Sonakshi is innocent and doesn't know a thing. Sonakshi in fact now knows there is a little complication and so do Neha and Riya in some ways.

Yesterday Dev was happy seeing his mother and wife happy who were happy thinking about how happy Dev will be when he becomes a dad. You with me? Its all about how because of lack of communication, Dev has built this facade around him and he doesn't let anyone in.

Thank God for the lady doctor who hopefully will stop Dev from committing a crime by proxy? However, I am now watching this track with a very different expectation. I don't know if we will get the infertility track we had been hoping to get. For now we got to watch what they show (or read WU or quit... whichever we chose).

What will Dev do regarding Riya is yet to be seen. I am waiting for the next episodes. Because all he wants to do is keep people around him happy. Sometimes money and power can buy that happiness and other times you have to sensible about your options and think about what next. Dev, you will take that route this time, wont you love?Perception of right and wrong is a very subjective. And I think you know what you are doing is wrong

PS: I also think that with this track being Dev centric, Shaheer's availability for shooting is important and there were moments when I felt we needed him in the frame but all we got was a hazy backview of a body double. I could be wrong.

Hmhmhm I think you are right!! But the problem is the pace of the plot and the dramatisation it has just been 2 and a half day and so many things have happened which are being stretched for around 2 weeks that's y it is getting frustrating.I hope this all leads to good things 😊

Aayan has been intertwined and that's made this track "busy"

Bumping because there are a few threads after the SBS segment and I think we need to look at the current episodes from a slightly different perspective

Wonderful post!!! Sorry to see it hasn't gotten more traffic, but it seems the forum is out to surpass the show itself in drama level! 😆

I completely agree with you in your assessment of the last few episodes, and to a large extent, I think the show has always been primarily about Dev. Ishwari and Sona play almost equally important roles in the story because of the pivotal places they hold in his life, but I have always seen him as the central character, as illustrated by the old banner -- Dev in the middle with Ishwari and Sona on either side. And as illustrated there with the image of them holding hands, Sona and Dev's love story is the other major strand of the story, though secondary to this central plot.

That said, one of the things I appreciate more and more as the story goes on, is how they play on the traditional ropes of various tragic heroes with Dev. The difference with this story is that the fatal flaw of the hero, or either of the heroines, is always tempered in the nick of time by their humanity. For example, when the story was focused on Dev and Sona's love story, i.e. before marriage, Devdas was invoked several times, both literally and through the plot. But where in Devdas, we saw that Paro holds her ground when Dev returns to claim her love, putting her family's honour above her own desires, here, Sona was unable to do so despite all of her resolve (engagement fiasco). Similarly, Ishwari changed her tune before her stubborn will forced Dev into complete ruin, because Dev's drunken outburst happened before, and not after Sona had already been married to someone else.

That is the kind of scenario I see playing out again now, except this time the trope is the self-fulfilling prophecy. If we consider his two visions of Sona and Ishwari when he first found out about Sona's condition as the prophecy, in trying to prevent it, he is inadvertently fulfilling it himself. Like you said, he is trying to do everything they should be doing as a family all by himself, without them being any the wiser. In the process, he is bottling all that negativity up inside himself -- negativity that we have seen can be much better dealt with when he shares it with Sona. In the words of the ever-wise Yoda, "Fear is the path to the dark side. Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering." That is the path I see Dev treading at the moment, as we so clearly saw in yesterday's episode. He is so afraid of losing control of his happiness, and the happiness of his loved ones that he is becoming angry at the perceived threat to that control: god.

And here we have the most interesting addition to the central conflict in Dev's life. Something I have been admiring since the news of the false pregnancy is the way they have depicted god, always haunting Dev, lurking in the corner of his eye and according to Dev, taunting him. It was extra validation for me that Shaheer mentioned the same thing in his interview today; Dev is in "tashan" with god. I think that from the time his father died, Dev has perceived god as the enemy -- someone who is constantly working to take away his happiness, who has his mother duped, and whom he has to fight in order to gain victory in life. And until recent events, he genuinely believed that he had won, with his financial success and the power it gives him.

It takes me back to a scene from right after the confession, when Dev and Sona were discussing gifts. Sona casually dropped the fact that Dev was not god, and would never be able to give her everything she wanted. This actually sent Dev into a huge sulk until the rain seemed to fall at his command and they had their first rain dance. Consciously, he was insulted that Sona didn't see him as equal to god, while subconsciously, he had fallen for that very thing, and that is what makes him such a deliciously complex study.

Basically (before this becomes any longer!), Dev has taken his name way to seriously and feels like the actual god is a huge con artist, so he has to be god for his family. His mother's struggle enabled his rise to this status, so he considers her his god. I think Sona got included in this when her infertility came to the fore. Before that, Dev saw her as invincible and therefore not in need of his godly services -- now she is confronted with something bigger, and he is trying to spare her that pain, going toe to toe with whatever force caused this injustice in the first place. What he has to understand is that not being invincible doesn't mean that Sona isn't strong. Like she told him so soon after their relationship started, she doesn't need him to be god, she just needs him by her side for the good and the bad.

A very analytical post on Dev

Yoda my most favorite

Luke: I cant believe it
Yoda: That is why you fail

The thing which amazes me is the wonderful writers/thinkers on this forum who have varied and differing opinions which are very interesting to read

Thanks for the wonderful post and I agree completely on everything written here.
This whole episode with pregnancy make me pity Dev and not be angry with what he is doing. I feel really sorry for him.

I have always felt that Dev is one of the most misunderstood characters in the whole story. He has been forced to project himself as something that he is not most of his life. He has never had the opportunity to know the emotions in normal sense. Now that he has the opportunity, he is not given enough time to learn how to deal with them..

I wish we as viewers had the patience to wait for the story to unfold... Dev will become the guy he is meant to be... I have faith in him...😃

I'll reply to everyone later today or tomorrow. Absolutely loving the episodes right now. I just wish this change in Ishwari was triggered differently but then I remind myself it's all about Dev. He had to trigger the change which he did!
Has anyone else noticed all good things happen at night time in this show?

No worries Sam. I bumped it for this very reason - to see if people think we can look at it from a different angle. An angle I myself hadnt thought of when the track started. I had hoped for a much more romantic and intense track full of pain, suffering and empathy. Speaking of drama, Vicky seems to be changing finally :)

I completely agree with you in your assessment of the last few episodes, and to a large extent, I think the show has always been primarily about Dev. I hadnt looked at previous tracks in that light. I always perceived this as Ishwari's story. Not Devakshi's. The new poster had me thinking too. Did you notice today, for the first time, Ishwari stopped everyone from having food and that said a few things to me:
1. Like Dr Bose said, khana time pe khao. So the pregnant lady is excused from all food-related fasts. No one else.
2. Earlier Ishwari used to wait alone for Dev. Because it wasnt about Dev, It was about her. Today, it was all about Dev. She wanted the whole family to wait for him because he does so much for everyone. That to me was a shift. She brought everyone at par with herself.
3. What really made me happy today is dev-ishwari wifi actually works. Probably outside the Ishwari niwas. Even Sonakshi got fooled when Mamiji said Ishwari ate in her room. Only Dev knew his mother wont have eaten without him and if she did, she must be unbelievably upset with him.
4. Sonakshi also made her baby wait for food. Why - because its again all about Dev. He is central to this track (or perhaps to the show)

That said, one of the things I appreciate more and more as the story goes on, is how they play on the traditional ropes of various tragic heroes with Dev. The difference with this story is that the fatal flaw of the hero, or either of the heroines, is always tempered in the nick of time by their humanity. Agree with all of above. Nothing to add.

Basically (before this becomes any longer!), Dev has taken his name way to seriously and feels like the actual god is a huge con artist, so he has to be god for his family. His mother's struggle enabled his rise to this status, so he considers her his god.

The names of the various characters in this show are quite appropriate.

Dev who thinks he is God and has had to be one for his family time and again
Ishwari who is God like to her son
Sonakshi who is good as Gold
Asha who is the hope among all of this

I think Sona got included in this when her infertility came to the fore. Before that, Dev saw her as invincible and therefore not in need of his godly services -- now she is confronted with something bigger, and he is trying to spare her that pain, going toe to toe with whatever force caused this injustice in the first place. agreed. He took too much upon himself and in that process has dug a hole. Lot to be seen

First of all why everyone keeping expectations from episode... It means if episode didn't match with our expectations then that episode is bad one..😆
I mean we have to be writers then...we will never enjoy any show or movie if u watch it with keeping expectations in our mind.
