I watch it with my parents & younger brother & yes things like lovebites and preg test are not very openly watched yet
But it has to be changed !
And it is changing
Other shows are openly discussing things like condoms, menstrual cycle, pregnancy kits etc.
As long as they don't present it in a indecent manner, it is fine for me !

Our show has always been the most decent and sanskari show .. And there is nothing at all which anyone can find objectionable ..

Not to 'use' this word ..
Ofcourse
There is no point of using this word in front of Indian parents anyway
But I can watch it on tv with them ..
And why not?
They are not showing it .. Just discussing it

Yes. Male relatives as well. I watched a lot of hollywood movies with my male cousins.

I know for India, my family might seem over liberal. But my grandmother, while she never went to high school, read books from all over the world (Bengali translation) that she bought from Calcutta Book Fair every year. So I read them too.

She also travelled more countries than me, including USA, Canada and Bahrain in Middle East, not to mention all over India.

Because of her, everyone in our family are encouraged to discuss anything that they have questions about and if one of the elders can't answer because may be they don't know or is confused, we were told to use our library card to research (before internet) or google (after internet) to find out.

I am from a big city too (Kolkata), now live in Toronto. I never had any culture shock when I came to Canada because I was brought up like most of my Canadian friends. It was not same for my friends though. They were brought up mostly the way most Indian families are. So you can say we are kind of different which even our neighbours know. Lol...

There was nothing taboo or shameful to discuss in our household. If a topic exists in the world, then it can be discussed.

Tia, male relatives also?

Because when i was 20 I would have struggled with that scene if my dad was there(and I come from a fairly conservative family from a large city)

I watch the show with my parents and my twin sister... And, we were laughing our heads off when we watched the 'hickey' scene...
My parents are pretty open-minded, so they definitely doesn't mind much about these kind of scenes...

While, they were a little more hesitant to discuss these kind of issues with me during teenage years but, now when I am technically legally allowed to be married, they have started to open about these things...

And, I like the fact that my family understands that I am adult and they treat me like one...

As for yesterday's episode, I like the fact that the writers, even though, not explicitly, they have hinted that both Dev and Sonakshi are consenting adults and enjoy their physical intimacy...

I know that sometimes, we get angry at the CVs for being idiotic, but it's good that they are still trying to accommodate modern and liberal thinking...

I think, that is why, we are hurt so much when they make our characters dumb, especially in case of Dev and Sona...

This show has clicked with urban progressive audiences (the low trps can vouch for it) and urban audiences are familiar with hickey/lovebite and if they are not, they are curious to know...not embarrassed. They say Yash Chopra taught Indians to romance. For the uninformed about hickeys, let KRPKAB teach nuances of ardent love. 😆

On a serious note...I have gathered from the various discussions on the forum (during Dev-Sona SR episode) that much more explicit, heavy breathing, chest heaving scenes are shown on many many shows on Indian tele (and not just during SR)...in that context, the conversation on a hickey is less uncomfortable na? Because whoever your company is while watching tele during the passionate scenes are the same people with whom you watch the hickey scene too.

I watch it alone because no one else is interested. My teenage kids & I watch a Big Bang theory together so this is nothing. My folks might not know the literal meaning but they will not be embarrassed.
It's nice that this shows such scenes not explicitly. It is always implied in a classy manner. We know what's happening without the wet sarees, heaving chests etc.

Coming to the episode why didn't Eli stay back to meet ayan & khushi since she knows them from college! I don't why her character has done a 180 turn. She was always flirty but she was caring. I find it hard to reconcile to her character shift. In fact Neha I still understand.

That's good to know all. Like I said, I am not sure where the Indian TV shoes Re heading these days. I like the openness and today was even better than y'day.
