After going through some of the topics in the discussion forums I had one question in my mind regarding the potrayal of men and women in our teleworld

Why the focus is only on the lows of male's character ? why not for a change show the world that a women/wife doesn't need to be perfect and a allrounder .Why can't a women make mistake and why should she be the only one to forgive and forget .I feel it puts pressure on real women to be perfect always .She is a human who cannot solve all problems in the world yet we see how women are potrayed in our teleworld .Anything and everything can be fixed by the female lead .In our show we the same trend .Sonakshi is shown to be the one solving Neha's problem,Saurabh's problem and I am sure Ria's problem in the future too .I won't be surprised if they show her solving the most complicated problem of the show - Ishwari's insecurities all alone .

Here Dev is the one making mistakes most of the times (Sona has her share of mistakes too but they wont focus on it ) and Sona correcting him .The message is men are men they make mistakes and they are not perfect ,strong .It's women who are expected to be strong ,patient and understanding .A real women is not always strong she can be vulnerable too and her husband need to be her strength .Being a women we cannot solve all the problems in our life and we depend on our husbands .Emotional dependency on your spouse is not the sign of weakness .Seeking help when needed is not the sign of weakness .Its ok for the women to be imperfect and her husband to be understanding ,patient for a change .

Men has to undergo certain changes in their life after marriage .Even though they are in their safe heaven ( read their home ) they will have to balance between their family members and wife .Adjustments happen from their end a .Marriage brings additional responsiblty for men just like women and marriage is not bed of roses for them either .It's also true that their mom will never let them grow.

From what I have gathered from the discussion forums is Indian audiences are not ready for this yet.We expect the female lead to be always strong and time and gain I have seen people asking Sona to be strong and become Dr Bose but not ready to accept her vulnerabilities. That's the reason we have always seen male lead as arrogant ,rude with a dark past and female lead as simple middle class girl with values .Name any show we see this trend every where .

P.S I am glad to see some new shows on this channel which is ready to show female lead as a psychopath .

Wonderful post Neetu. Just perfect.
You are right in pointing out the way Tele world functions.

Heroes are prone to make mistakes and heroines will show them light. Be it Ishita,Akshara or Gopi Bahu every one just prove to be way ahead of their counterparts.
In real life balance will be there. Like sometimes wife takes lead and sometimes the husband.

But not in our Serial world. Here the mistakes of FL like you said will be overlooked.

When I came to know that Shaheer is playing Dev Dikshit I have high hopes that it will be a different yet strong ch. Yes it is different. But strong? No. I don't mind if he is flawed. But sometimes it hurts.
I would have felt happy if he is shown to be the one who helped Saurav if not financially atleast emotionally. I looked forward to see the bond flourish because I like Saurav a lot.But it did not happen.

Any way we are compelled to watch whatever they offer us isn't it? Just bearing with the facts and moving along with the show.
Liked your analysis. Much needed.

Agree with you except the last lines
No one is perfect... but then I gues this serial is showing us few things
Comparison of Ishwari n Asha n the upbringing impact on their offsprings..
So I love it for the same...

They have highlighted Sona wrong many times..
1.Like she misunderstands Dev while thinking about Ranveer Neha love n no status bar in love
2.She moving on with Ritwick with heart still stuck with Dev and embarrassing her family
3.trusting Dev time n again knowing that he is mamas boy
4.forcing Dev to change his nature n dependency on mom without giving him time or lending help
5.knowing how ishwari is feeling towards Dev, she still blurts out all to her

Thanks for your post.. I shall share my thoughts...

So, I actually dont watch many Indian shows. I used to watch Balika Vakdhu off and on however the same reasons that you mention - the perfect Female lead - put me off of the show.

Coming to KRPKAB... again, I have very little to compare against. What drew me to the show was the decor and the general mood to be honest. There were no slow motion entries, no loud women villians. You get the drift. As I started watching this show I saw relatable characters. I love watching chick-flicks and was very close to a Indian TV chick-flick to me

Now coming to Sonakshi, she isnt perfect. Not just now as a wife and bahu but even before as an employee, daughter, sister, lover... And I love that about the makers. They have set the bar high and I hope they keep meeting expectations
