Group hug, when i first saw the segment, i thought how it is possible and moreover it look no value to me coz in Dixit's home no one is sharing their problems or happiness among themselves or there is no non-partial love towards each other. And automatically compared with that of Bose family group hugs which was very genuine and really affectionate.
BUT, after reading ur post realized as you mentioned it is first step towards change in Dixit's mentality towards their family being together in all circumstances. So, a baby step towards good change in Dixit's house. Happy for Sona.

About today's episode i have two doubts,

1. I am not all convinced by Sona's ignorance towards ignoring her in the family surprise party. Not worried about her wait for hours in club and even not worried about Dev sending driver to pick her up, but atleast he could have waited for Sona to come before cutting the cake. Till now was able to relate to Sona's character, but here not(may be i am not yet married nor in love). I am curious to know, Is that really possible for one to easily forgive their partner in such situation without even expressing their hurt or concern that atleast next time they wont repeat this?? is this forgiveness(moreover forgetting) so easy when we are in true love or married??

2. About, Dev calling Asha maa as aunty. This is totally handled as comedy scene w.r.to Dev and Sona. Not getting what message CVs are trying to give. coz, Dev even after knowing the fact that its only Asha who helped Sona and indeed Dev from her outburst of party plan failure, he himself didn't even felt to call her maa, then there is no use from Sona's side to make him to call her maa and accept them as his family, it should come from his side by himself.

Though CVs made the scene comedy, really liked the conversation between Sona and Ishwari, which even reflects many members feeling in this forum too.

And, the last one so CVs didn't forget the mama's boy comment, it will be continued.. no idea what will be its reaction.

Ishwari twists her lecture to suit her purpose. But today Sona's honest and open approach made her shut her mouth.

That's why I kept saying that honest and open approach is hard to defeat.

And Ishwari already knows how comfortably Dev called Asha, Maa and behaved like a son to her. Otherwise she won't have got so upset. But she hoped like everyone else in the family, when she twists her logic for her benefit, Sona will remain silent.

But today Sona showed her the flaws in her theory which Ishwari can't counter... Great going Sona. 👏

Quoted from your post: Sona very honestly tells Ishwari the reason of her upset. So Ishwari says that all his life Dev only called her Mother (as if everyone else call multiple people mother growing up) and he may not want to give that position to someone else.

Sona wouldn't have forgotten how comfortably Dev called Asha as Maa even before the wedding.. Ishu deserves to know that😆

Ishu, you can't get away with your gyaan that you use for your own benefits.. They don't work everywhere, dear.. 😆

Sona, 👏👏🤗

I think Vicky didn't join in for the same reason Neha didn't join in.

And Sona was on a roll today. I loved her pre-wedding tigress mode...

Lovely post Tia.Here's a hug to you and all the strong ,amazing women here🤗I haven't seen or read about the segment with the hug but it seems to be a beautiful scene going by your post.

As for today's episode, I can't say I am, happy with how it was shown. The background music was not at all appropriate for this scene and it came across as a very light and humorous issue which it was not.Dev's reaction (sitting on bed and giving that Oh No expression as if it was a small irrelevant conflict or teasing matter going on) too took away the seriousness of the matter.Similarly Sona's words came across as if she was taking it lightly as well😕

I liked her response to Ishwari and her comment to Dev in precap though.Dev continues being a hopeless case.

Your questions are completely valid. But here's what I think (keep in mind I might be completely wrong in my theories).

It is not easy to forgive and forget at the drop of a hat. But I think Sona has figured out that if she openly confronts Dev, he just argues and shouts and uses his standard dialogue, "Tum nehin samjhogi"...

So the best way to bring him in line is to give him a taste of his own medicine in a very polite manner.

It's a more effective strategy because you can't fight with someone who is calm and polite. But you can't change their mind or force them to do what you want either. So it's maddening.

I know. I am one of those passionate fight types who stands her ground and argues until the other one gives in (I don't storm away or condescending to my opponent though) and my husband is cool and calm in fight. He never raises his voice and never even approaches me in a threatening manner regardless how angry he is. The more angry he gets, the more polite he gets.

You can't fight that.

I think Sona is taking that approach. Has she forgiven Dev? Time will tell. His birthday might just be a Time Out day.

But if she keeps talking in a polite manner and yet calls Ishwari Aunty, Dev can't stop her either. He is powerless.

So I will wait and see how Monday turns out.

I am just happy to see our tigress back. 😆

I haven't seen the episode yet. Just read written update. However, I wrote my theory in another response (see the response before this) and hold my judgement until Monday.

However, I don't think Sona should let this go. This is not a trivial matter. It's about respect.

Stupendous Post as always Tia👏
My two cents on the show are quotes from the book ' The Art of War'

"The supreme art of war is to subdue the enemy without fighting."
Sun Tzu, The Art of War

Sona looks like is just doing that she showed Easwari the mirror without fighting or arguing...do most people take this approach No me included but looks like Sona follows the silent Satyagraha approach and that is better then shouting matches

Thus the expert in battle moves the enemy, and is not moved by him."
Sun Tzu, The Art of War

Sona showed Dev his own flaws just by her words she did not deter from what she wanted , and made it clear she was upset so his explanations did not move her..This was a classic move

I think Sona is now ready to engage in the actual War...let the War games begin

"Move swift as the Wind and closely-formed as the Wood. Attack like the Fire and be still as the Mountain."
Sun Tzu, The Art of War

Sona the heroine has risen today

P.S This is just from written episodes hope I am correct😉

You know I have usually felt that this isnt so much about Women's self respect as it is about a son who has no confidence his mother will not self medicate herself with sleeping pills and in turn he will lose the love of his live...

Today Ishwari put Dev on a yet higher pedestal and Dev did the same with Ishwari. They pretty mush tried doing a "Neha" to Sonakshi... just like Neha couldn't have access to education while Dev went on to get higher degrees, Sona's mother cant have the same respect as Dev's mother can.

I have a horrible feeling Dev's life is indeed going in reverse. Had I not seen the group hug spoilers(or will she call Ishwari 'auntyji' after the hug?) I would have been convinced. Because I recall what Dev said to Sona on the night of Asha's bday "what I did for your mother is nothing compared to what you are doing for mine"...

Now Sona is pretty much saying this in reverse - You called her aunty in private and I am giving you a chance to correct your mistake.. Otherwise what you have done to my mother will be nothing compare to what I will do to yours (mind you Riya's prospective groom's family will be present)

We will not be able to agree on this one Tia.. In my opinion, while Dev is the devta of double standards, he is ruthless and rude... If sona is hurt and angry, Dev cannot survive. He knows (I hope!) that Boses will survive "aunty" (they will be hurt but will give each other virtual and real group hugs, stand up and survive), Ishwari wont... Dev is a spur of the moment person and this is partly mamaji and ishwari's doing. Why the EFF is she defending him? She should go and give him left right and center. Mera bachcha ... mera bachcha!? choti see baat! uh huh.. man the body language of ishwari

The sweater knitted by dadi is another fiasco in the making

EPISODE UPDATE:

Sona is in full form today. She stood firm in her ultimatum that Dev should call her mother Maa or she will call his mother, Aunty...

But Dev was scared shit because that would apparently hurt his Mother. Well, of course it would. Just like it would have hurt Asha. But he didn't think about her when he called her aunty. Those who thought that what you call someone doesn't have any significance, this was the proof that it does or Dev won't be so concerned.

He tells Sona that he will call Asha aunty but she can't call his mother that. Could he be anymore ass hat? This guy doesn't deserve any consideration whatsoever. He actually thinks that he gets to dictate the terms here after behaving like a jerk.

You know I get that Birthdays are special and hence, the person whose birthday it is should be treated well. But if anyone behaves like a complete jackass even on his birthday, they deserve a swift kick in the butt.

So Sona asks him to go for office and decides to call Ishwari aunty at the party.

Radha overhears and tells Ishwari that Sona was arguing with Dev. When Sona comes down, Ishwari asks to forgive his mistakes because it's his birthday (So Ishwari which is the day when your son doesn't deserve any forgiveness? Because rest of the 364 days, according to you, he deserves forgiveness for just burdening the Earth with his double standards)...

Sona very honestly tells Ishwari the reason of her upset. So Ishwari says that all his life Dev only called her Mother (as if everyone else call multiple people mother growing up) and he may not want to give that position to someone else.

Sona gets mad because she realized this was Ishwari's doing. No Sona, this was not Ishwari's doing. She was doing what she has always done. But this was solely your husband's doing for being a selfish a$$.

Anyways, Sona was in full form today. She told Ishwari that when she got married, her mother told her to embrace everyone in his family as her own, didn't Ishwari teach her son that? (BRAVO!!! I wrote exactly that in my post when Dev called Asha aunty. Today Sonakshi took the thoughts from my heart)

She came into Dixit house and adopted his family as her own, but Dev couldn't do that for her family and she left.

Ishwari remained stunned.

Sona, take a bow. You have placed a gigantic mirror in front of Ishwari. I don't think she likes what she sees in there.

Precap: Sona calls Dev Mamma's boy and Ishwari gets upset. But I am not sure why. Isn't that her aim in life to raise Dev as Mamma's boy and make him stay that way?

One more thing.. I dont know if anyone noticed... This was the exact spot where Ranvir had questioned the upbringing of dixit kids and the double standards of Dixits... Sona did exactly that at exactly the same place.
What a powerful episode

Thank god somebody agrees with me. The question of your respect and that of your mother was handled with humor and teasing. When someone is very sick dr gives injection irrespective of the pain it's gonna cause whereas same dr would ideally give tablets. Some situation warrant tough treatment. For me CV should not have taken this route today. I just can't rub my mind over the way it was handled. Even GKB said if she calls Ishwari Aunty Sona will be shown the door. For being so nice and understanding all Asha gets for her respect is Dev expression, humor and teasing. Is not it belittling Asha.
