This is my first attempt at writing... I know that this cannot happen in the show, but that is why I thought of penning this so all of us can feel better 😊 Please leave your feedback..
It was past 1 at night in the Dixit mansion where everyone had finally retired for the night after Dev's cake cutting and aarti celebration. Dev was feeling like a jerk for having disappointed Sona yet again. He was beginning to think that there wasn't a way where he could keep the ladies in his life happy. If he tried to make his mother pleased, he inadvertently hurt his wife.
Sona had been her understanding best tonight but he felt absolutely terrible recalling the look she had on her face as she entered the house. She managed to mask her pain but he was able to see through it even as she tried to hide it for the next hour urging his family to give him birthday bumps, feeding him cake or even giving him a peck on the cheek instead of a slap that he knew he deserved.
He so wanted to spend the evening and night with her and was looking forward to some alone time with his Khargosh. All he wanted to do was to love her now and tell her how sorry he was through his actions but he realised that he needed to give her space. She was not going to share her pain with him today and so he let her sleep while he went down to the garden to sit in her favourite Jhula and think of a way to make it up to her ...
He suddenly got an idea on what he needed to do. It meant having to cancel his dinner with Ayan but that could certainly wait. He quickly messaged Ayan, Sona's parents and Saurab and got to making his plan work. At 1.30, he reset the alarm on his clock, smiled at his sleeping wife and snuggled into the bed where she promptly hugged him back like she did every night..
Sonakshi woke up and realised that her alarm was set an hour earlier than usual. She did not know when Dev had come to sleep but his head was resting on her shoulder while his arms were wrapped around her. He also stirred at the alarm and gave her a lingering good morning kiss as she said " Happy Birthday Husband" .Dev pulled Sonakshi closer and said "Sonakshi , I know that I hurt you terribly yesterday .. The least I could have done was refused to cut the cake until you were home.. but I could not process what was happening around me. I am still learning where being a good Husband is concerned and yesterday, I think I added to the list of what a Husband should not do" Sonakshi took his face in her hands " Dev, I know that you did not mean to hurt me. I was hurt but I have got over it now..". Dev got up and pulled her out of the bed.." Mrs. Dixit, you cannot keep winning the best Wife pageant.. I want to try to win the best Husband title also.. Is liye...get dressed in some casual clothes.. I have a surprise for you..."
Thanks to the closet fiasco, he now knew where Sona's clothes were and where his clothese were kept. He quickly packed a bag of light clothes, his gift for Sonakshi which he had bought for their special night that she had still left unopened and put all of this into his laptop bag. He went to Ishwaris room, took her blessings and told her that he had an urgent meeting that required him to travel for a day and that Sona would be spending the night with her parents as some urgent family emergency had come up. This time, he called his in laws to make sure they follow his plan. Sonakshi was thrilled that Dev was taking her out for breakfast, she knew that he would head to work after that but she was still elated that they were starting his birthday with a meal together.. maybe in their favorite cafe..
Sonakshi dozed off in the car as soon as they left home. Sona seemed disoriented as Dev was waking her up and when she looked out, she saw that they were at the airport. She was beyond shocked, she thought they were going out for some breakfast. "Dev, are we going somewhere".. " Sona, Do you think I will bring you to the airport so that you can see me off?? Ofcourse, we are going somewhere..." Dev lead Sonakshi towards the airport entrance and continued speaking to his wife whose face seemed to be glowing like a lightbulb "and Sonakshi, maine apne aap pack bhi kiya hai and I packed not only my clothes but yours too..." Sona hugged Dev and jumped in happiness as they proceeded towards the check in counter .. It was Dev's birthday it she felt like she was living a dream..
Dev and Sona checked into a lovely sea facing villa in a seven star hotel Goa and came back the following night after spending one of the best time of their lives. They swam in the ocean and played like kids, watched the sunset hand in hand and had a lovely candle light dinner by the sea. Sona was still blushing as they entered the night flight back to Mumbai while remembering last nights events after their romantic dinner...Dev's gift that he had remembered to pack and which she had worn as a birthday gift for him...
Ishwari saw Sona smiling as they entered home and asked her.. " Beta, ghar mein kuch hua tha Kya ki tum acahak se Wahan gayi. Dev ne Mujhe bataya ki tum ghar ja Rahi Ho aur Tumhe disturb nahi karen".. Dev winked at Sona and replied " maa ..Bahut thak Gaya Hoon aur khana bhi kha liye... Goodnight.. Tum bhi jaake so ja"
Sonakshi was sad that he still had to lie to his mother but she was thrilled that her feelings and happiness mattered to him as well... Dev pulled her into a tight hug and said.. "Miss. Khargosh, I think you will be happy to know that yeh trip ka bright idea tumhari jhoole ke fairy lights se he mila mujhe " A tear escaped from Sona's eyes which Dev kissed away and said.. "Kisi bhi tarah ke aasu nahin.. Mrs. Dixit.. and I love you"
