Did Dev really say that 'folding clothes is a woman's job'. I mean is that for real. I know that he quickly defended it. But it's the chain of thought that lead to say such a thing I have a problem with. When did dev get so regressive. He might not have meant it that way; however I have a problem with him thinking that it's okay to say such a thing and get away with it. I'm getting bittery disappointed day by day of the butchering of once upon a time wonderful and layered character of dev dexit. Similarly it's not okay for anyone to say that a man's job is to be the bread winner of the family.

The world around us is changing. In the US it is common for men to take on the role of "home makers" but in India it is still taboo. We will get there but it will take time due to deep rooted cultural issues. The first step is taken.. more and more women are working.. and some of them earning more than their husbands too..

i think over the next 10 to 15 years, we will see similar - male home makers in India.

I have a distant relative where the wife has moved to the US and take her family, husband and 2 kids.. the Indian wife works and the India husband is the home maker!!! The lady moved to the US as she knew that people in India will look down on her husband.. now both do not have a problem in the roles that they play.

It is still not clear about Dev.. too early to judge.. i do not think he is a person who disrespects woman. yes, he may be insensitive but not disrespectful.

Definitely not .

If it was true then we would have never seen him encouraging Sona to go out and work ,build her career and he would not appreciate the Dr Bose .

If it was true he would have expected her to cook for him and manage home .He would have tried to change her after their marriage instead he always wanted her to be herself and not lose her indentity

Unfortunately our society sees man as the earning member and he is not given a choice of staying at home even if his wife is working .Similarly wife is assumed to be the one running the household and she is expected to play a major role .

Dev is definitely not old fashioned who expects his wife to stay home
