Today's episode was all about parenting - one a successful one and the other a failed one. Gemini (Sabita) once wrote about different parenting style in her comment on one of my posts. Today it's more glaring than ever.

Neha asked a valid question today. Her relationship is the same with Ranveer as Dev's with Sona. Is the difference in husband or wife that makes them behave differently?

Me: Excellent question, Neha. The difference is in husband, wife and parenting. You see, you don't want to make Sona's effort in your relationship, your husband doesn't want to continuously fight an uphill battle like Dev and your family doesn't know how to support their children like the Bose. Had Dev and Sona fought here in Dixit house instead of Bose house, your mother would have ensured their divorce as well.

Ishwari is informed by Neha that Dev would be late. But that wasn't good enough for her. After all who is Neha? She is just a tool to use against Dev when needed and pacified with whatever she wants if she tries to tarnish her Goddess image in front of the family. Dev should have called her directly.

Alternatively, in Bose house, Dev points out to Sona that Elena and Saurabh are fighting but Sona is absolutely indifferent. After all when people live together and love each other, they fight in the open and doesn't backstab each other in private. That's the Bose way.

But for Dev, it was probably an eye opener and he was left feeling as confused as someone who was locked in "Kal Kothri" for years sees sun for the first time.

After dinner, Dev, Saurabh and Bijoy Bose bond over alcohol while Sona stomps away.

So Dev run after her. But Sona hands him his pillow and blanket and ask him to sleep outside.

Now there's again another parallel here from before but with a twist.

When Dev and Sona fought and he ignored her calls choosing to sleep on the couch, Radha blamed Sona.

But here Asha gave up their room for Dev so that he can be comfortable. No one asked him any explanation nor blamed him for anything.

The twist: When Dev was angry before at his home, he never checked to see Sona's comfort.

But today at Sona's house, they were both concerned for each other's comfort.

Yesterday, someone mentioned that a man always feel welcome at a girl's home, but not every girl is lucky enough to feel as welcomed at their in-laws as they are at their own family.

Here's why.

Regardless how upset a wife is with her husband, when he is staying at her parents' home, she still cares for his comfort. She doesn't take his presence for granted.

But thanks to handy excuse of culture, most husband never reciprocates the same for his wife at his home because well, where else would she go?

And when a husband actually reciprocate the same consideration for their wife, looks for her comfort and doesn't take her presence for granted, those are the lucky few women who are as comfortable and welcomed in their in-laws as they are in their own family.

That's the attitude difference that women put up with in the name of tradition bullsh*t.

It's like saying, hey girl, let's make a deal. How about you take all responsibilities since the day you get married, but wait a few decades for your rights and to actually be accepted as a family member? Sounds fair, yes? And we will call this arrangement, tradition and culture to make it a generally unquestioned/uncontested deal that people will blindly follow like sheep.

Anyhoo, moving on. Bijoy Bose kicked them out. Some may call him crazy, I call him smart.

Even drunk he is better parent than sober Ishwari.

He knew that husband and wife should sort out their differences between themselves. And since he can't force Sona to let Dev in, he can ensure that they stay out until they sort out their differences.

Family should intervene only after the couple reach an impasse, not before because no one lives forever. If the couple don't learn how to sort out their problem, what will happen when the parents are no longer alive?

Ishwari however calls as usual hovering.

Bijoy Bose informs her that Dev is staying here.

But that wasn't good enough for her. She expects Dev to stay up at 2 a.m. to cater to her whim and have a chit chat with her. Seriously?

Bijoy Bose informs her that she threw Dev and Sona out to sort out their fights.

Ishwari's concern, "You threw out Dev?"

Bijoy informed her, "Yes, but with Sona."

So let me get it Ishwari, you expected Dev to stay up and pacify your irritating hovering by chatting with you at 2 a.m. but you are worried what he is doing with his wife at 2 a.m. with platinum unlimited credit card and a car at his disposal? I don't know, may be they are starving at the street and are crying for you like Oliver Twist?

The trust Bijoy Bose has on his son-in-law to protect his daughter at 2 a.m. of night, Ishwari doesn't have on her son to take care of himself. She doesn't care at all about Sona.

That's the difference between a successful parenting and a failed parenting.

Ishwari gets offended and keeps asking about Dev and Bijoy replied, "Now you are annoying me. Good night."

Trust me, Mr. Bose, I was feeling the same. High five!!!

Precap: Dev is now puppy following Mrs. Bunny. But their fight continues.

P.S. Dev, tum to kuch din yahan ruk hi jao. Family kaisi hoti hain Boses tumko achhe se sikha degi.

Hey tia, been a while since I commented. to be honest, I'm fed up of this show as I see it going around it circles. dev and sonakshi have fight fter fight but they never learn, all for the sake of contrived TRP drama. if they learn to sort out their problems effectively, then how will makers extend the show? I'm just apathetic to it all.

PS: what was that travesty that happened last night? so happy that I'm canadian.

Nice post Tia. How well they showed how the parents should let the husband and wife sort it out themselves. . No one in Bose house even asked Sona or Dev - what happened or why they fought or tried to judge who is at fault.
They understand that husband and wife fight and it is their personal matter and they should resolve it themselves.. So bijoy saw that it is not happening as both of them are not sitting down to talk .. So he there them out ... brilliant idea... I really hope Dev applies this to neha and Ranveer and make them talk to each other before they take this divorce matter further..

I also see Neha sad and question where the fault is - It is the husband or Wife or both... I am glad she is asing herself all valid questions.

Husband will appreciate and care for the wife if she cares for his family as her own... and same applies to wife... if husband really shows care and support to his wife then wife will go that extra mile to keep his family happy... Now the question is who will show this caring gesture first...should it be wife or husband ?? again it depends on case by case...in Dev and Sona's case - it was Sona who was caring for his family and trying to win over them.

In Neha-Ranveer -- looks like there is tug of war and neither of them is budging. they need to sit and talk to each other... hopefully that will resolve their issues... As i can see looks like Neha really doesnt care about material things if she gets love and care that she craves for.

PS: I feel Sona is putting Dev thru Bose family orientation programme... i am sure he will learn a lot out of it

I won't bore you with same old same old TRP game on saas-bahu drama.

But about last night, we witnessed a solid proof what a racist and sexist nation US has become. I was shocked. And did you hear that a member of KKK endorsed Trump. It's like ISIS endorsing US head of the state. Now Trump will sell USA piece by piece like Bush. It's good that Canadians can afford to buy since our economy is now improving.

I was shocked. But I was even happier to be a Canadian, same as you. Good God!!!

If I was living in america right now(middle class, muslim, immigrant) then I would be afraid for my own safety. there is nothing worst than questioning your own sense of belonging and being afraid of the people you live amongst, the same people who put this racist bigot in the white house. it is a global tragedy but once the shock subsides, other countries will just laugh because this is who america chose. they have made their bed, now they must lie on it. feel sorry for the minorites, sad that their country is full of racists, bigots, misogynists etc. etc.

Absolutely... In a couple's fight, the family should follow three steps - 1. Never take sides and start blame game because that influences decisions and 2. Let them handle it between themselves and stay out of it and 3. If the couple reach an impasse, intervene and let them talk it out before you move to the extreme solution of divorce.

Dixit family did none of it and Neha and Ranveer reached divorce faster than their courtship, Bose family did everyone of them in the same order and Dev and Sona will come out of it stronger.

I am glad that they had this fight in Bose house and not in Dixit house. Otherwise, they'd also reach divorce court fast.

I don't think Dev will apply this to Neha since he is convinced that Ranveer can't keep Neha happy. But then he is partially right. No one can make Neha happy except Neha herself which I said in my previous post.

Ishwari wanted to make up for lost times with Neha, I haven't seen her spending even one second more than necessary to spend time with her. She is supposed to keep Neha on her palkon pe bithakar. But sorry, her palkon is houseful by Dev. I don't know how people even think she even deserves to be called a mother let alone a good one.

You asked a very good question. Who should show the caring first between husband and wife? Well, to be fair, since the husband is expecting the wife to leave her comfort zone and come to his, it's his responsibility first to ensure his comfort zone is also comfortable for her.

If he comes to live with his wife's family, then it's the wife's responsibility to ensure his comfort first.

If they move on their own away from both family, then both of them are out of their comfort zone and hence it's both of their responsibilities to make their home comfortable for both of them.

Like I keep saying little considerations matter a lot more when you are not taking each other for granted.

Regarding Neha, yes she craves love and Ishwari promised her that. But if she expects her to deliver on her promise, then that would be a huge mistake on Neha's part. Ishwari yet to deliver anything to any of her children except Dev what she has committed. The only thing she is good at is making fake promises and playing blame game but never rectifying any of her mistakes.

Sona is definitely putting Dev through Bose Boot Camp. She is making Dev go through the pain that she felt when she relied on one person to make her feel cherished and that person turned on her.

Here the rest of the family treating Dev so well, but because his wife is ignoring him, he is restless. Which brings me back to my statement, man or woman, a person's respect and comfort at their in-laws comes from their spouse.

At least Dev has a way out. Sona has to stay at Dixit house forever. Good job, Sona. Some people learn by example.

You are absolutely right. You know when I was in school, sometimes we went to summer camp and this one kid would get constant phone call from his mother and everyone would tease him as Mummy's boy. I remember how embarrassed he felt and he was just a child then. How embarrassing it must be for a married adult in their in-laws?

No wonder, Dev never had any friends. Who will be friends with someone who has to give attendance for every moment of his life?
