This is what our age-old Sanatan Dharma says right ? 4 stages of life - Brahmyacharya, Garhasthya and then comes Baanprasthya.. I believe Sanaatan Dharma had one of the most scientific ways to deal with life problems.. Here Ishwari is refusing to go to the next stage of her life.. indeed a problem.. I didnt know about this syndrome but what you described matches with her.. Like I always said, both Maa-Beta need psychiatrist and nothing wrong in it man 😒

This syndrome is real and really doesn't need clinical intervention just adjustment 😆
But like I said maybe I am a bad psychologist and came out with a totally wrong diagnosis😉

No your analysis is correct buddy. Because that is what the root cause is of all the problems.. with not just Ishwari but many of our parents.. Personally speaking, kids should be encouraging the parents for this as well.. Like I and my cousins have always encouraged the parents of our family to have a life beyond us which is why they make sure they have their own get-togethers, movie / orchestra / dinner plans without us.. and no we are not high society people but very middle class whose daughter (me) and SIL are struggling in foreign countries to book a standard flat in a metro city.. 😃 But the point is - we as children should encourage and remind them about that as well.. cimmunication is the key to many problems..

Ishwari Mama and Mami can make their own team and enjoy !! Who is stopping them to !!

Thanks for the reply. Maybe I am oversimplifying the problem. But as far as only girls parents feeling it I beg to differ because my husband and I are empty nesters of two boys who moved out of course not for marriage but for jobs and we had to adjust too luckily we had jobs, hobbies and friends and always believed in giving our kids space so even though we were feeling it it was not pronounced that is why I used exaggerated.

. I am sorry if I confused you. I mean to say girl's parents only in the case of marriage (in Indian culture, girl leaves the parent's house). Yes, parents of both - boys & girls suffer from empty nest syndrome when they leave house for college or to have an independent life. I can understand how you feel, I have lots of cousins who moved out of state for higher education, I think that's how life is in U.S. It's good to know you are keeping yourself occupied with your jobs, hobbies and social life. Have a great weekend!

Empty nest syndrome is painful. More so for a single parent. But usually empty nest syndrome affects two ways. 1. When the nest is completely empty as in all chicks has flown the nest as in your case and 2. When the chicks are going for extended period like going to university for four years or moved out to be independent.

Neither of those situation apply to Ishwari. If anything the chick that flew out, she came back again, making the numbers back to what it was after she got married.

In fact the way Ishwari is behaving as if Dev and Sona dumped her at old age home alone while they are moving away. She is in her home with her brother's family and all of her daughters. If she still feels empty nest syndrome then the rest of the family can drop dead and she won't care beyond a few tears as long as Dev is there.

That makes her concern for Neha completely false. She was just a convenient excuse. Like I said how many times she has called Ranveer to get the full story?

Forget Ranveer, when Dev was in her room today, she never even mentioned for him to take steps to help Neha get back to her husband. She was just basking in his attention.

But suddenly her sleeping concern woke up when she herself got jealous of Dev and Sona's honeymoon plans. Sorry, that is not in my opinion, empty nest syndrome. That's plain old green eyed monster.
