DEV's POV

I entered the fully chirpy bose house... it was saurav's aashirwaad, a ceremony equivalent to engagement in Bengali tradition... every surface of the house was either covered with fairy lights or flowers or was a combined effect of both the things... courtesy my wife... I noticed how the living room had been emptied and there was sitting arrangement only at the corners, and most of it was floor sitting arrangement, and right in the centre of the room were two huge chairs, for the couple who were to take the vows... it was 4pm I checked my watch again and was thankful that I was right on time inspite of nikki's shopping spree and my quick visit to neha's place... "arey dev beta vahin rahoge" baba called out and sonakshi nudged me and left to change... I waited, my eyes only looking for the most beautiful subject in the room... I went into saurav's room who was sitting and speaking to a client on the phone, as soon as the call disconnected he stood up and greeted me...

"congratulations..." I said and he looked down and I continued "mujhe pata hai kitna gratifying lagta hai jab jisse tum pasand karte ho, usse tumhare ghar wale bhi pasand krte hai, and rishta next stage pe leke jane ki permission de dete hai" I recalled the day this very man had called me to come, and take away my sona!! And how like a lightning flash, I had dashed out of my office building leaving behind a string of calls for tina to attend, and how i had driven like a maniac, earning honks and fingers from where I sped past!! The memories bought a shy smile on my face and the door bell bought me back to the land of the living!!! "chalein" I asked the groom to be, who nodded and walked with me... he took his seat at the corner near the stairs and my eyes went back to searching the love of my life, and when I finally spotted her, my heart skipped a beat.. how could someone dressed so simply be so breath taking?? I walked to her, and she ignored me, everytime this process kept repeating, and I kept pretending that I was busy attending the guests... finally I found the perfect opportunity, when sona walked upstairs to get the gifts and I followed her, she entered dadi's bedroom and i followed her

I shut the door she turned around and raised her eyebrows "yeh kya hai??" she asked as she moved around to fetch the items!!

"kya kya hai... mujhe bas tumse ek sawaal puchna hai..." I said taking my place at the door...

"toh puchiye.. uske liye kamre mein band krne ki koi zaroorat nahi hai" she said as she started to pile up the gift items.

I moved close to her and locked her in my arms and said "tum itne simple kapdo mein bhi itni khoobsurat kaise lagti ho?" I asked, taking in her appearance she was wearing a simple ivory sari with red borders, the blouse was a simple one minus the sleeves and some of the back portion... she smelled heveanly, and I placed my head on her shoulders inhaling her scent!!

She pushed me said "dev, mere pass abhi aapki baton ke liye time nahi hai" and moved towards the pile of gifts

"mere liye tumhare pass kabhi time nahi hota" I said

she turned around narrowed her eyes and said "really dev, yeh aap keh rahe hai.. jabse mai ghar vapis aai hoon, aap kab time pe ghar aae ho.. bol bol, ke toh maine yaad dilaya hai ki, aaj iske ghar jana hai, aaj shopping krni hai, kuch aapko toh yaad rehta hai nahi... mai bhi toh, keh sakti hoon aapke pass mere liye time nahi hai... and, mere pass toh reasons bhi hai" she said shrugging at the last sentence, I realized there was no point in an argument because, as always she was right and I just could not do anything about it...

So instead of fighting my way I decided bending was a good idea so I said "sorry sonakshi!!" I made my softer face that she addressed as the puppy face... I was dancing internally when I felt her expressions soften and she pulled me in a hug and as I leaned in we heard baba call us out from the bottom of the stairs and we hurried back downstairs... the ceremony began and ended on a very cheerful note!!

I was sitting with my mother and mamaji who along with nikki, had decided to join the gathering.. mamiji as usual was missing from the party!! "maa kuch lengi aap" sonakshi came and asked maa

"nahi beta.. tu humari chinta mat kar mehmano ko dekh.. " smiling maa replied

as sonakshi turned she bumped in to a guy roughly my age and smiled a brilliant smile and exclaimed "auoro!!! Kemon achi tumi?" I could not decipher the meaning but by the way it was spoken i was sure it was meant to be a how do you do?' the guy smiled with the same stupor and something about the way he was looking at my wife seemed off...

"bholo... long time sona" he replied and I was sure he was trouble!!

I got up and caught sonakshi's attention and I simply said "sona dinner krte hai maine bhi kuch nahi khaya hai and tumne bhi sham se kuch nahi kaya hai.."

she looked at me and said "auoro, yeh dev hai, mere pati.."

the man standing in front of me raised his hand for a shake and I took it "mai aurobindo das hoon nupur ka bhai.. and sonakshi ka bachpan ka friend" he said

"hi dev dixit" I replied, something about the way he said bachpan, just pushed me to the edge I stared at him long enough, to make him aware that this was my property and he better stayed off it.. only time will tell how much he had understood of my unspoken threat!! We were seated on the dining table that had been set after the guests had left for the remaing members to have a proper dinner. I took the seat next to baba and just as I was about to signal sonakshi to take the seat next to mine that pig, aouro, took that seat and invited sonakshi to sit next to him... I was furious, they chated happily in begali and I could not make a word out of it, apart from the tumi and the occasional ekdum!! Finally I had had enough, and I called sonakshi out obiously when there is a bone in the meat it stings!! He too turned around and looked at me as if I had just, bursted his favorite foot ball!! "Humein baat krni thi" I said trying hard to mask my irritation,

"kiss bare mein dev" she replied ofcourse how can I forget she was having enough fun!!

"ussi barein mein" I again purposely emphasized on ussi

"kiss.. barein mein dev" she again repeated this time her voice shook a bit as if she almost figured out the meaning behind ussi..

"arey, maine tumse kaha tha na mujhe tumse kuch important baat karni hai... tum bhul gai sona... ussi barein mein.." I knew slipped twice in my speech, I spoke a little too fast and I called her sona...

she narrowed her eyes and gave me a lopsided smile "aacha aap bahar chaliye mai aati hoon" she said pursing her lips together and the way aurobindo's face dropped, I enacted my victory dance inside my head...

"dinner bahar hi le aao hum khata khate baat kr lenge!! Nahi toh phir hum late ho jayenge na" I added as all the other eyes turned to face me!! I quietly and quickly slipped out of the room!!

I was sitting at my car bonnet when my lovely wife made her way towards me and kept the plate on the bonnet and folded her hands in front of her "kya tha who??" she asked me...

"kya?" I asked trying to be innocent..

"don't act smart, okay, mr aubhodro!! Aapko itni problem thi mere auoru ke sath baithne se, ki aapne khana bhi nahi khaya or bahar le aaye mujhe" I had almost forgotten how well she knew me!! So I just shrugged and looked down "boliye aapko problem thi.." deciding I would not be so vain, I slipped down the bonnet and stood in front of her

"nahi toh maine aisa kab kaha.. mujhe sach mein kuch baat krni thi"I said

she looked at me and said "toh theek hai kahiye... or thoda, jaldi, mujhe andar jana hai.." I knew she would not stop so easy!!

So instead I said "maine saurav ki shaadi ki after party ke liye vivanta ka hall book kia hai sarojini ke pass, venue se pahunchne mein aadha ghanta lagega!!"

she looked at me waited and said "bas itna hi.. theek hai, phir mai andar jaa rahi hoon auoru mera wait kar raha hai... who mujhe kuch kolkatta ki recent developments bata raha hai!!" as soon as the words were out my faade slipped and I pulled her to my chest!! And she giggled "mujhe pata tha... jab aap itna jealous the toh cool bane ki kya zaroorat hai.."

I pushed her staright and said "pehle maine socha, nupur ke sath flirt krta hoon, phir mujhe tumhare bhai ka kayal aaya!! And maine yeh idea drop kr dia!!" this earned me a smack and a tumi ekdum impossible' I just laughed and said "kya karun mujhe apni super gorgeous wife share karna pasand nahi hai... ab kuch kha le mujhe sach mein bhuk lagi hai.." I confessed...

she just blushed and said "mai toh aap hi ki hoon... kahin nahi ja rahi.. okay.." and under the starry sky we had a fabulous dinner!!
