Soon Dev reached his office and engulfed himself in files. He was informed by Tina that he needed to attend a two-day function in Mauritius. She had already made arrangements and wanted a go-ahead from her boss so that she could book early morning's flight. The whole day seemed jammed by meetings which needed lot of attention. He didn't give a call at home to inform his trip. While the last meeting ended by 9.45pm, Tina came to inform him that the new merger with Mumbai based company needed attention too. Dev asked her to arrange his stay at his house (Ghar) in Mumbai. He told her that while returning from Mauritius he would stay in Mumbai and deal with their new concern. "What if, I visit our plant in Kolkata also? It's long time anybody had visited it. Sab kuch theek chal raha hai to iss baar dekh bhi aata hun?" Dev said to Tina. "Par sir, wahan to sab normal hai, aapke wahan jaane ki koi khaas wahaj?" " Bohot waqt hua hai wahan jaake. Jaane mein kya harj hai? Sabse milke aata hun. Koi takleef nahi hai na unn logon ko, wo dekh bhi lunga. Mere Kolkata ka stay bhi arrange karo. OK?" Tina said Yes Boss and left.

Dev came home and saw everyone sitting on dining table. "Maa mein iss poore hafte bahar jaane wala hun. Kal subah ki flight hai."

"Wow bhai. Kahan jaa rahe ho aap?" Nikki asked in excitement.

"Vacation pe nahi jaa raha hun, kaam ke liye jaa raha hun. Waise Mauritius se kya laaun tere liye?

"Perfume aur pearls aur..."

"tu ek kaam kar, mujhe list message kr de.Actually, tum sab log mujhe kya kya chahiye ye message karo. Fine Riya?"

"Bhai, aap full week Mauritius mein hain?" Riya asked.

"Nahi. 2 din Mauritius. Phir 2 din Mumbai aur phir 2 din Kolkata." The word Kolkata made Ishwari looked startled at Dev. "Kyun kalkatta kyun beta?"

Neha had just came in and had heard the conversation. "Wo bhai ko Sonakshi ko Bengali mein propose karna hai na Maa, isiliye bhai Kolkata jaa rahein hain". She just commented so that mahool thoda light ho but Ishwari was looking straight at Dev. "Sachme Dev ?" "Maa tub hi kya, factory hain na wahan to visit karne jaa raha hun. Waise accha hua tum aagayi Neha, chal bata tujhe kya chahiye?"

"Bhai, aap na Kolkata se thodi Bengali seekhke aayo, bas mere liye itna hi kaafi hai." Neha said. She knew her brother and her mother well. They needed this pinch. Dev just left and asked Bhola to accompany him to pack his bag. Ishwari got up but Dev asked her to sit and have a chat with Neha.

Neha sat with Ishwari and eyed her. She knew Ishwari was doing all this for Dev. "Maa mujhe aisa lagta hai, ke ab tujhe bhai ki life mein interfere nahi karna chahiye. Wo samjte hain, wo kya kar rahein hain."

"Par mein bhi to uski khushi chahti hun. Samajh kyun nahi raha hai ye."

Neha knew what kind of impact Ishwari and Sonakshi both had on Dev's life. But she wanted Dev to understand and take time before bringing Sonakshi to Ishwari Niwas, because then it wouldn't be just Ishwari Niwas for Dev. It would be where his past and future would be present.

Dev left for his trip by midnight. He wanted to call and inform Sonakshi but he thought this would give Sonakshi the much needed time to think and to know exactly what kind of relationship level they had reached.

Sonakshi felt a little empty. She knew Dev loved her, but his words before going echoed in her ears. Had she made him again Mr. Obhodhro? The way his eyes scorched the love and pain made her feel as if the sun had set and was never going to shine. She felt the darkness around her. She knew that her words had hurt him, but the way he had repeated today made her as if he had taken them forever. But now what? He had just gone without turning back. She locked her room and turned off the lights.

Day 1:

The next day for Sonakshi was her first day in J.L.S again. With memories of Dev, day went on. She was just fine with her work. She just couldn't help but think of Dev. Everything had suddenly become secondary to her but Dev. While returning back she passed through the coffee stall. Those moments when they had coffee together!!! Relaxed Dev, his smile, his happy eyes... "Sonakshi, whats the point in thinking all this now? You have already said NO." She kept walking.

Day 2:

Sonakshi was ready to leave. At breakfast table, Elena just without thinking asked her, "where's your bracelet? You always put it na?" The bracelet brought memories of Dev again. The words he had chosen when he had returned it to her. She left without eating.

Day 3:

Her new clinic or consultancy space had garden besides. Being a lover of horticultural, she had asked mali kaka to plant new flowers. Today he had brought red roses to plant. Again roses!!! Long time back she loved roses, was waiting for her soul mate to give her a rose. Then she hated roses. Threw them away and now she again liked them. Roses mean sacrifice. Dev had sacrificed their love. To sacrifice something means it needs to be above everything. Did Dev consider her above all?

Day 4:

Finally Ms. Sonakshi Bose declared "I miss him!!!" She sighed. Suddenly she realised that it had been complete 3 days that Dev had tried to contact her or her family. What was going on? Where was Dev? She decided she would ask Tina. In evening, before leaving she called Tina. Tina picked up the call and told her that she was on leave today as her mother was visiting her in Delhi. "Koi baat hai, Dr. Bose? Kuch baat karni thi?" she asked. " Nahi, koi baat nahi. Actually galti se number dial hogaya." Sonakshi said. Tina knew Sonakshi had called her to ask about Dev. But Dev had given everyone strict orders related to his trip. A little extra order for Tina was "Tina, I don't what anyone to know about my whereabouts. I hope you understand who everyone means?" He looked at her knowing and nodded at her. Tina mentally said "Sorry, Dr. Bose. Iss baar mein Sir ke orders follow karungi, because I want both of you to be happy."

Day 5:

Sona felt restless. Did anything happen to Dev? Was he not well? "Y r u thinking all this Sona? He must be fine. May be he is busy. The newspaper had said that his business had suffered losses. Was it due to her? She knew in what state of mind and condition Dev had been. He would not have even noticed all these losses. But the losses must have been large. Dev had already faced Gujrals due to her, and now this. "He must have been working like maniac. I know him well. Wo khud ki bilkul parva nahi karte." She fumed in anger. "Why is it affecting you so much Sonakshi Bose. Tune to keh diya usse ki he doesn't deserve you and your love. You said no for marriage and basically just because you asked him to come to your engagement he came. If he is at fault, you too are equally guilty. Why curse him?" " Kyunki mujhe farak padta hai. I don't want him to lead life this way." "Sonakshi, ye jo tera fake chehra hai na pride wala, baki sab ke liye thek hai, but you know very well." "What? What do I know?" "You know that you love Dev and he loves you back. He respects you too."

Rains started falling!!!

Day 6:

Dev had come to Bose House. During one day visit to Kolkata, he had hand-picked a few things for Sonakshi's family. As a token from their native land, he had brought a beautiful raw silk sari for Asha Bose. " Par Dev babu, ye toh ekdum pure silk hai, bohot costly hogi na?" "Mere factory mein jo aamdi (workers) kaam karte unki wives ye silk weave karti hain. Unhe thode paise mil gaye. Aur mujhe pasand aayi. Aapko aachi lagi na?" "Khup khup sunder!!!" She smiled genuinely. For dadi he had brought a handwoven shawl which bore beautiful kantha work. Dadi blessed him mouthful. With little hesitation he gave the present which had been brought for Bijoy Bose, the authentic "khadava". "Mujhe tumse koi present nahi leni hai." "Bas dekh lijiye kya hai issme, phir bhi pasand nahi aaya to koi baat nahi...BABA!!!" Those words, his eyes poured so much respect for him that Bijoy just couldn't control and placed his hand on his head to bless him. "Thank you, beta" Both had tears lingering in their eyes. Dev gave Elena and Saurabh's gift to Asha. As Elena belonged to Kolkata, Dev had brought perfume for her from Mauritius and pure Bengali dhoti for Saurabh.

"Dev, Shona ke liye kya laaye?" Asha Bose asked.

"Jisne mujhe jeena shikhaya, jiski wajah se aaj meri saanse chal rahi ho, jo mere jeena ki wajah hai, usse mein kya de sakta hun?"

Everyone knew that each and every word uttered the truth!!! Nobody could answer him. Dev left.

In evening, Sonakshi came home. Elena was happy watching perfume. Sonakshi asked "ye kisne diya? Dada aap kuch jyada hi mehengi gifts laa rahe ho aajkal." "Sona ye meine nahi Dev babu laaye hain. Wo hum sab ke kiye gifts laaye hai. Ekdum authentic Kolkata gifts."

Asha Bose showed her sari, Dadi showed her shawl, even Bijoy Bose showed her khadava. Sonakshi felt so good hearing of Dev again. As if "baarish aaye ya naa aaye, aap aaye to maan khud hi bheeg jayega" feeling. She asked " Aur mere liye, mere liye kya laaye?"

Asha Bose turned on her phone. His voice said "Jisne mujhe jeena shikhaya, jiski wajah se aaj meri saanse chal rahi ho, jo mere jeena ki wajah hai, usse mein kya de sakta hun?

Her Dev's voice, it was filled with complete surrender. She knew that now she couldn't control herself. Tears started flowing and she slumped down on loveseat. She was crying like little girl who had finally realised too many chocolates are not good for teeth.

Here, Dev just couldn't go away from that area. He felt as if Sona needed him. His heart was desparate for her. He felt as fish who wanted to dive into the sea again... He returned to the place outside her house and as usual honked. Little did he expect that Sonakshi would come rushing into his arms!!!

She wanted to stay into his arms. Dev felt his heart-beating again. "Will you keep me in your arms, like this, forever, Mr.Obhodro?" Ms. Khargosh asked.

"FOREVER".

Wonderful writing dear... especially baarish aye na aaye aap ayenge to man khud hi bheeg jayega, then that asha's recording n then dev not able to leave n returns with haunting...
