Wow. Amazingly put in words. Unfortunately this scenario of a caregiver and responsibility still exists in a lot of common people today which does lead to a lot of ruined lives. Anyways what you have written here brings a whole new light into this relationship between Dev and Ishwari. I enjoyed reading your post.

Sonakshi should not forgive him easily either. Because just because one understands another person's position does not mean their mistake disappear. If that's how it worked then we should understand Ishwari's position and forget her mistakes too.

The mother and son both needs to ask for Sonakshi's forgiveness. Whatever the reason may be, it doesn't justify hurting someone's feelings.

I agree I don't what them together so soon either. But I don't them apart. I dont want a looming engagement or a marriage. I hate triangles in a love story. If 2 people have any issues, they have to solve it between them. Figure it out. I don't like the interference of a third
Dev's behaviour has been consistent. And he needed to do what he did. He is not the one to sugar coat or think before he acts. Should he be forgiven so easily , of course not. Let Sona make him cry.

But don't want the third angle.

You are right. Unlike other daily soaps, this script is tight and is keeping true to the characters. Every character is brilliantly fleshed out and we can relate to the very human quality of the characters.

However, in my opinion, the third person was necessary because of Dev's passive nature. He would have been happy spying on Sona forever if third angle hadn't forced him out of hibernation. I don't think Ritwik is the third angle, but a catalyst in the story.

Sona is already a strong personality, secure in her own worth and place in the world. But Dev needs to develop into his own person and not an extension or crutch for his family.

He got Sona by default because Sona was already in love with him. He didn't have to win her like Sona had to win him over. So he didn't realize her worth.

But that third angle will force him to acknowledge that if Sona decides to take him back, it would to be because she wants to, not because she has no other option. The same way, Sona needs to believe that she won't get dumped again. So Dev has to get Sona back in his life because he can't live without her, not because his mother gave in...

awesome post Tia...liked your analogy a lot.
I think Ishwari is very immature and naive. she sees Dev as this innocent little boy who is trusting and vulnerable. She thinks she is protecting him. And that all women are out to eat him alive.

She is not acknowledging that he is a grown man, with need for love, companionship and desire to be loved in return (like a woman loves a man 😉). What Dev needs to do is talk to his mother about how much he loves Sonakshi but will let her go for his mother's sake.

I was worried that Ishwari would never acknowledge her role in the breakup and Dev will be blamed all alone for deciding this "all by himself".its so cowardly of Ishwari.
She just doesn't want him married. period. strange woman.

You are right. Ishwari equates Dev's devotion as her success. As long as Dev needs her, her self-worth is there. But when Dev stops needing her, then she won't know what to do with herself. After all, just like Dev, she doesn't have any friends either other than the Mami who is more stress than friends.

What a lovely analogy!

You know, people who struggle in the initial parts of life are more prone to be power hungry. Like Maham ,Iswari is afraid to loose the status of queen mother and she does not care if she destroys her son's happiness in the process.

She is living in a fool's paradise and blindly considers that for Dev she is a goddess. She is quite boastful about it and flaunts her imaginary importance in front of Mami.

I do not know where she has hidden a practical and loving mother that she was in the beginning of the show. Having said so,she was partial to Neha and other daughters. May be like Maham she also realized very early that to achieve respect and status in society,,Dev will be her ace card and she lavished her affection accordingly.

Is Ishwari strange? Yes. But how realistic. We all have seen or heard about women like her. CVs did a great job fleshing out every character in this show.

Dev has been trained by Ishwari the way a dog is trained by its master, the way a suicide bomber is trained by terrorist groups - by robbing the capability to think about himself. Just do whatever it takes to please your masters.

Only Dev can break free of his emotional bondage - but for that he has to first realise his actual situation,. His biggest tragedy is that instead of realising that he is a slave he believes that he is living in the paradise of Ishwari's love.

Another brilliant post👏
A different take of the whole situation I like what you wrote below in bold

Here are my thoughts

Dev needs to break free of the shackles and realize that he has every right to make his choices and to be happy and if it is Sona that brings him happiness he needs to seek it and this time not with empty promises but with real believable ones followed by action only that way will Sona come back in all this I think Sona family will play a role because they will not let their daughter go back into a relationship which does not have solid commitment.

Dev has only two choices now rise and take action whether his action displeases Easwari OR let Sona go so she may lead her life the way she wants to.

I only hope that the makers have not gone the routeof Sona just saying she will wait for him for ever even though it sounds beautiful and maybe great love stories are made that way somehow I as a woman cannot stomach that..this is my only fear of happening and hope I am wrong.

I agree that we have seen people like Easwar but as a Mother No because still in my book motherhood surpases every thing in this world

However, in my opinion, the third person was necessary because of Dev's passive nature. He would have been happy spying on Sona forever if third angle hadn't forced him out of hibernation. I don't think Ritwik is the third angle, but a catalyst in the story.

Perfectly said... Them getting back together just because Ishwari agreed would be the most ridiculous reason.
