I watched break up video so many times because I couldn't believe that Dev broke up with her in that manner. Then slowly concentrated on the expression rather than the words and it spoke volumes .. more than what our ears heard...there was so much of pain and confusion. He was talking to himself, trying to reason it out why his mom was not happy for him with this relationship.
I understand Sonakshi and her pain because just like us she only heard his words and not see his expressions/feel for. She herself like us knew his mom didn't like her and was not happy about the blind love he has for his mom . Here again we didn't see or feel for Dev as a person. We were more concentrated on his decision for their love. Because that is what mattered to us and for her too. But for him at that point in time what he saw was the fact that his mother was suffering because of him . He wondered - was he so blinded in love that he never saw her pain ? So his core character ...impulsive Dev popped up and found a solution ...Yes !! throw away what caused the pain for his mother..no matter how close it was to his heart. Here is the greatest mistake he made .He forgot that he was no more single , when he did that he had to think about his Sona too. They are a couple. Whatever they do - good or bad effects each other.
Definitely not trying to justify his impulsive behavior, but that is our Dev rt ? On impulse broke the phone and spent days trying to pacify her to accept a new phone from him...again on impulse uploaded her profile on Jodi.com and then apologized with flowers... At that time he was single so it didn't matter much. ...but the fact is he never learnt from any of those previous experiences.
Once things settle down and in silence, he is going to regret this decision the most. His journey of self-introspection and realization will begin. ...all I can say is ...Dev!! ,what did you do my dear boy ?
I also wondered , was Sonakshi prepared for Dev's impulsive nature? Even though she said she is prepared for him? How much does she know him? If she knew him that well and trusted him...probably would have kept his reaction to herself and waited for some more time for him to come back to her ?? ...don't know ...just a thought..I could be wrong here... This journey will also show us how much Sonakshi loves him.
Anyone can love you when the sun is shining. In the storms is where you learn who truly loves and cares for you . It's a testing period for both of them. Let us see how these two take their love to next level...
