Sam (if I may address you like that) this post... is by far THE BEST 👏 post that I've ever read about Ishwari, Dev & Sona till date. And you've made me fall in love with them all over again. In yesterday's episode I found the three of them right & wrong in their very own way.

Ishwari: She knew what Dev was going to tell her & she was genuinely willing to hear it from Dev. She didn't cut him off or waylay him in spite of her fears questioning her importance in Dev's life. I wonder what would've been her reaction if he actually did tell her about Sona. And like you said, she made it all about herself... She could've approached him. She could've have taken Sona's name & made him feel comfortable...& guided him... But in vain, she had to hear it directly from the horses mouth. And the next day she went diving into her cocoon (kitchen) trying to find some solace & ended up shocking Dev. That wasn't the way he wanted to see his mother. But am glad that he couldn't convince her & Ishwari didn't want to listen to him as well. Dev needs to realize that he can't always fix things for his mother. And Ishwari can sulk more which will end up turning her into an angry & bitter woman.

Dev: Just like his mother he too is emotionally bound to the things that he'd said to his mother in the past, that he would share every secret with her. So he's in a fix whether to tell her or not, thinking that he will end up disappointing her as he didn't keep up to what he said when he was young. He wasn't clearly thinking what would happen if Ishwari came to know about his relationship later. He wasn't thinking about the future at all. He was only thinking about what he'd said in the past & connecting to what he was doing in the present. All he cared was to keep Ishwari happy & not be a reason for her disappointment. And to be honest, I found Dev's hesitation alright...certain things don't need an explanation...as in why he didn't tell her anything when he had the perfect opportunity. He just didn't feel right & he didn't say anything to her. Call it fear... call it the 'nirash' that he didn't want to be... but I found it perfectly normal. We knew way well before that he has too many flaws. This is just one of them. I love the fact that he's one of the most beautiful flawed character.

Sona: I love how she's the smart one in all this... But not too smart to have understood this eccentric family. She always thinks practically & with her head. There is only right & wrong in her life. It would look wrong if Ishwari came to know that everything was happening right under her nose and this would upset Ishwari. And this is why it was necessary to inform Ishwari about them. Love how she always gets to say what she wants to in a very eloquent way. She also tells Dev that she doesn't want to sound forceful but keeping Ishwari in mind, the best thing would be to tell her sooner. It is she who can mould the Dixits. But she will also have to suffer in trying to mould them.

All three of these characters are attempting to control time: Ishwari, in trying to turn it back, Dev in trying to freeze a single moment, and Sona in her impatience to move forward, but time stops for nobody, and as long as they fail to respect that, things will continue to spiral out of control.

So beautifully you have connected their emotions to Time. Wonderful Sam! Am in awe of this post... 👏👏👏

Of course you can call me Sam 😊 I completely agree! The beauty of these characters is that none of them are clearly wrong or right, but are each battling their own personal demons in an effort to find their own happiness and peace of mind.

And Ishwari can sulk more which will end up turning her into an angry & bitter woman.
Every time I think of what Ishwari's ideal reactions should have been, I remember Rima Lagu in Maine Pyar Kiya. She too finds out by accident that Salman and Bhagyashree are in love, but doesn't feel hurt about their keeping it a secret. Rather, she is ecstatic about her son's choice and pulls a prank to make them both confess to her, immediately giving her blessing. The fact that this isn't Ishwari's natural reaction to me shows that Dev and she have a much more complicated relationship. Ishwari is more concerned about her future than Dev's in this respect!

Dev: Just like his mother he too is emotionally bound to the things that he'd said to his mother in the past, that he would share every secret with her. So he's in a fix whether to tell her or not, thinking that he will end up disappointing her as he didn't keep up to what he said when he was young. We knew way well before that he has too many flaws. This is just one of them. I love the fact that he's one of the most beautiful flawed character. Totally agree with you here! Beautifully said!

I like your interpretation of Sona as seeing everything in black and white/right and wrong. That's her baba's ideology speaking through her! But being with the Dixits can be a learning experience for Sona as well. Everything you believe is not always so easily executed, especially in a world that is not morally infallible!

All three of these characters are attempting to control time: Ishwari, in trying to turn it back, Dev in trying to freeze a single moment, and Sona in her impatience to move forward, but time stops for nobody, and as long as they fail to respect that, things will continue to spiral out of control.

I don't mind at all! Almost everyone in the virtual world calls me Sam 😊 Unfortunately I won't be able to write a full analysis today due to time constraints, but will try to make a combined post after Wednesday's episode.

Yes, I was very active on PV1 forum...proud co-founder and member of the Dragon Club thread! 😉
