I think ARCH21 just made a very beautiful post explaining this

And Ishwari's behavior makes it worse..It almost looks like Dev fell out of love with her and found another girlfriend for himself so she looks at it as him cheating on her and hence is in denial and doesn't want to confront the truth 😆 I know this sounds twisted and convoluted but Ishwari is way too emotionally invested in Dev to the point of insanity that him having a girlfriend is looked at as cheating and infidelity😆 And like most women (who are victims of adultery), she shifts the blame on the third party..That my husband is pious and pure but this girl seduced him and took him away 😆 Am oversimplifying it here but that is exactly how it looks like..

Yes, Ish's behaviour unfortunately comes across a lot like how you have described it. She has had some time to get accustomed to the idea that Dev may be romantically inclined towards Sonakshi even if she does not know for sure. Since the wedding at least. Even if she shifts the blame onto Sona and thinks it is one sided, it is unfortunate that in all this time not one thought about Dev's happiness entered her mind. I know the makers plan for her to introspect on that (if we go by the promo) but the fact that it will take so long for her to introspect on that is unfortunate

And Dev probably understands her at a subconscious level hence the hesitation 😆
P.S. Bless Sonakshi..She knows the family is complicated but she really has no idea what she is getting herself into 😆

Yes, poor Sona. However, I want to see her hitting pay dirt once she manages the equation. So if she experiences some grief for 1 to 2 years of her life, Dev and his family could be a lovely family for her...if you consider a married life of 50+ years :) That is how my mom used to put it...marital issues for 3 to 4 years seem like a big deal when you are experiencing them but after a while they will be remembered as just another experience

I get what you mean and agree to it to a certain extent but what I meant when I said Dev being weak was in his context with the Love he has for Sona against the duty/love he feels for his mother.
Love always makes you strong and come what may you have to fight to keep it alive and I hope he does that even if it displeases his mother because like the unsaid promise he has made to his mother to not disappoint her he has made very vocal promises to Sona as well

More than him confessing the truth to her what is disturbing her peace of mind is the fact that there is another woman who is close to him now. For Ishwari ,Dev is still that 12 yr old boy and is not willing to come out of it. She feels that she might loose that No.1 position in his life. Her insecurities are visible to everyone in the house and Dev has also witnessed the same.

Yes, this is what almost all of us feel. While I do not want to second guess based on the spoiler (OLVs), Dev seemed to be apologizing for not telling her and Ish expressing that she felt bad because of it...this situation is not so black and white and Dev has come clean within a month of the relationship..that is not called concealing really ..I hope when the episodes air, the conclusion is not that Dev goofed up but convey that no one was in the wrong really

Dev is scared that his mom might not like the fact that he is in love with Sonakshi and if she doesn't approve then he will not be able to continue this relationship. On the other hand he knows he cannot live without his lady love . She is everything for him and she is one person who could make him feel alive. I guess this is why he is hiding .

Agree, feel bad for Dev who has been such a good son and never asked for anything for himself.

Yes, absolutely. He has made very vocal promises to Sona and it would be very disappointing if he backs out because of his family situation. In real life I would say that such a guy should have properly assessed the situation before promising anything and getting involved deeply...Let us hope the makers manage the situation well without us losing respect for Dev's character

from my POV, Dev is hesitating because he knows that he is telling about Sonakshi to his mother bit late.. he somewhere knows that he should have told his mom long back.. but he didnt tell her because somewhere he knows that his mom wont like it.. he knows even though his mom knows everything about him and supports him for his every decisions but she is possessive for Dev..
Dev even hided many times in the past that he went to Sona's house in past even when he was not aware that he used to like Sona. (taking take for Sona's mom, Garden scene at Sona's place, etc.. i think few more)
That time also when he confronted his mom, coming late night, he has given excuses .. never told her truth.. somewhere he was knowing that his mom wont like that... they do share unique bond but somewhere he knows his mom's possessive nature for him...

Great write up! After watching all the insults hurled at sona I was just about to change the channel when I saw the coming up scene before the last break(about Sonakshi's meltdown) and I heaved a sigh of relief. RR was too much yesterday. It was too difficult to watch. Yes, it did pinch when they didn't show Dev's reaction BUT, but he was really unwell and it's understandable that he wasn't able to process his surroundings in that state. His stern look in the previous episode has reinstated my faith in him standing up for Sonakshi when it matters.
Erica stole the show yesterday. Her breakdown is the most real scene of KRPKAB. And that's saying something, coz this show is packed with so many realistic scenes. I think almost all of us have had this sort of reaction when our significant others tease us that we dont care enough for them. Her dialogue ' Don't ever fall sick again' was too cute! I think the insults hurled at her throughout the day took their toll on her as well, it was evident from her expressions, but she didn't tell him about it. It was endearing to watch Dev's expressions.
Coming to your post, like I have mentioned in my previous posts also, when Dev told Sonakshi there is no reason why his family would say no, they have always supported him. He was reassuring himself more than Sonakshi. He is subconsciously scared that that might not be the case, his mother may not approve. Another reason may be, he has always been the provider of the family. For the first time he's gonna ask for something, for himself. Maybe that's why he feels hesitant. Ishwari has instilled it in his mind that he is the one who gives, doesn't ask.
P. S: was I the only one who was scared after Neha's scene yesterday? Guess we called her very matured a bit early!

True , even I have started feeling bad for him. This is the only thing in life that he has wanted for himself and since its for him , he is so scared to decide. Because all the while his needs were taken care by his mom.Even when he grew up his mom "controlled his needs by deciding for him".
( Selecting his cloths , choice of colours , food , his friends , especially his personal life )

Ishwari is smart in this case. She has bought him up in such a way that he is forced to take approval for all the decisions wrt his personal life. He is dependent on her . The turning point was the engagement with Natasha . There she refused to give him her opinion. She said this is one matter where the decision has to be his and when he broke the engagement she was happy. She knew somewhere in her heart that with out her approval he would say no to it . It is her decision of not voicing her opinion in case of his choice of girl that made him confident to confess his love for Sonakshi. I am sure Ishwari never saw that coming .😉 Now she cant say anything because she did tell many times that her kids have the right to choose their life partners ( Neha's case and also Dev's engagement time with Natasha ).

Seeing monday's promo I felt sad for Dev and angry at Ishwari. She has made him emotionally dependent on her.Fear in his eyes to tell the truth about his affection for Sonaskhi...lord !! very sad Its as if he has done something wrong . Poor fellow !!

But Dev being Dev learns things fast and will come around. Love and Hunger are two things life that will make ppl do the impossible!! 😊

I also think he is hesitant because he did not inform her before obviously for his own reasons which are right and also this would be the first time he will be asking anything for himself as he has always been the provider...not sure if he feels that his mom will disapprove his relation with Sona..but going by the recent episodes he has surely got the feeling that Ishwari is not that fond of Sona..so he feels may be it would be a task to convince her..

He is guilty he hid this from his mother & he shud have done this much earlier... That is the reason for his hesitation...That his mom will feel let down by him coz she time n again said - Dev will tell me first... Yet he did not... It is only this guilt & apprehension of how his mom will now react after he has in some way broken her trust...

Nice analysis.I feel he hesitated because he knows that its a bit late and also somewhere he knows that she might not accept it or take time for it because like every other parent she might expect that Dev will first ask her or discuss with her if he likes a girl which did not happen.

In any case hesitation is normal in Indian society as no matter how much parents are close to their children there remains a gap.
