So I live in Trinidad west Indies and I am Indian my ancestors were from India but I was born and raised in Trinidad so when ishwari was talking about the arrange marriage and her explanation of boyfriend and girlfriend it was hard to digest for the age we are living...cause where I live we get to go on dates with our respective partners and spend time with each other before we decide to take the final step...and sometimes the boys parents may like the girl or vice versa but the parents tolerate their children choice and they definitely don't behave like ishwari...I understand iswarie behaviour and that's where even though we are Indians our culture and behaviour are different... There ate very few mothers like ishwarie very possessive and selfish... But as time goes by we need to adjust...ishwarie is punishing herself to keep her son under her dress because she wants to be the only one he comes to...and she treats the girls differently... Especially neha...as neha's mother she is the ideal role model when she gives advice to neha but when it comes to dev he is her possession... and for her relationship with him it is unhealthy...dev is her son not her husband and she needs to understand that...
