Sorry for the late post guys...was not well since past few days..🥱

Chapter 24:

To say that Dev was shocked would be an understatement. But what Sona was going through was beyond shocked. She had no idea what to feel.

"Dev...I don't know what to say." She spoke tiredly.

Dev recovered soon. One look at Sona and it was pretty clear that she was undergoing loads of emotions. He tried to diffuse the situation.

"Sona..don't jump to any conclusion. First talk to Elena."

Sonakshi nodded. He was right.

"And now for god sake please change!!!! Not that I mind you in this look but you just recovered from the illness."

She tried to smile but her mind was elsewhere. Need to call Elina soon', she thought. Nothing made any sense anymore.

The next day Dev called her in his cabin. As soon as she entered , she noticed Ritwick sitting and her temper flared.

"Oh Sonakshi...we needed to have a team meeting and Mr. Ritwick wanted to be present as well. I have informed rest of the team. But in the meantime you can atleast tell him the main points we would be covering today. I will just come in few minutes." Dev was in a hurry.

"Dev..I will wait for you."

"Arey no problem. You guys know each other since before..so no need to be this formal now." Saying this he left her alone to face Ritwick.

"Heylow my darling..you looking very pretty today" Ritwick sneered and Sona bristled hearing this.

"Firstly I am not your darling and secondly behave yourself Mr. Ritwick Sen." She was outraged.

"Always so fiery. I loved this about you even back then."Ritwick sneered as usual.

"Shut up."

"Oh I will. But I would like to say something. I knew you would not speak a word to Mr. Dixit. You just talk big."Ritwick was in full mood to irritate her.

"I will tell him every single thing Ritwick ,today itself. Don't you dare think you can garner any undue advantage from me this time" Sona retorted hotly.

"You would not dare Sonakshi. The guy is totally crazy for you and it is so obvious.and you being a nice and good girl would not dare say him anything to break his heart...that too after this many days"

"Its better to have a broken heart than to live a lie" She argued hotly.

"Whose heart is breaking?" Dev entered the room along with the other team members.

"Wo...nothing..shall we proceed?" Sona was flabbergasted.

"Sure"

Ritwick laughed sarcastically at Sona..making her more and more furious.

Everything went on smoothly and Dev was happy with the team's effort. He accompanied Ritwick downstairs and in the meantime Sona went back to her seat...still deep in thought. She realized that she needed to speak to Elina as soon as possible for the peace of her mind. Finally after a lot of thinking she dialed India's number.

Elina Bose received her phone on the third ring. Her voice was super excited and she filled Sonakshi with all the latest happenings in the family. Sonakshi was least interested in all that so after sometime she interrupted her flow.

"Elina..I needed to speak to you about some urgent matter" Sona asked urgently.

"Sure Sona"

"Promise that you will tell me the truth."She was dead serious today.

"I promise" said Elina.

"Remember all those years back I asked you to give one letter to Dev?"

"yes" Elina's voice was cautious now.

"Did you give it to him"

There was no reply from Elina this time. Sona persisted.

"Elina..i need you to answer me now"

"I did give the letter" Elina explained.

"But was it the same letter written by me?"

"Sona...why are you bringing back all the old stuff"

"I have asked you something" Sona was persistent today.

Elina did not reply .

"Take all the time you need..but today I am not disconnecting the phone unless I hear your side"

"Fine!!!! I did not give him your letter. It was something which I wrote" Elina answered awkwardly.

"Why would you do something like that?" Sona surprise knew no bounds today.

Elina took a moment to contemplate and then went with the flow.

"Because I too had feelings for him Okay. But you both loved each other so I never disclosed it. After you decided to leave him I did that...trust me I was not expecting anything from him. Infact if you remember I asked you to rethink your break up decision as well. But you seemed so sure...so..."

Sonakshi was too stunned to speak at first. She felt betrayed ,hurt and angry at the same time.

"I never expected this from you Elina...not you atleast"Sona was disappointed and it was evident from her voice.

"Sona listen to me..."

"No Elina. You were there through all of it. And yet..."

"And yet what Sona? You didn't had the courage even then. Just because of the luck you guys met..and milkar bhi kya different hai ? I am damn sure you are still stuck. If you really believe that he loves you that much then what is stopping you? Apne relationship ka jo haal kiya hai tumne uski responsibility tumhe leni hogi. Don't put this all on me. I agree that whatever I did was immature but you cannot blame me for each and every thing you messed up on."

"If you want I can call Dev and own up to all of it.Sach kabhi na kabhi saamne aa hi jata hai Sona. I don't know what you are planning but you have no right to say anything especially when you have not been honest to him. I never did anything to jeopardize the relationship between you guys..and this I did only after you were sure that you no longer want to be with him. But this was wrong...and I will take full responsibility to it. " Elina rambled on.

Sona had no idea what to say to that. She disconnected the call full of mixed feelings. Whatever Elina said..some of it did made sense today...

Dev was back to his cabin and was feeling exhiliriated. Things were going very smooth with Ritwick unexpectedly. He dialed Sona's number:

"Sona..come to my cabin. Need to talk to you about something..."

Sona went to his place with bated breath. He just had an interaction with Ritwick. Did Ritwick say him something or...

"Hi...you guys were fantastic today...Ritwick seems very happy." He uttered as soon as Sonakshi entered.

"Thank you Dev."

"No thank You Sona...it is due to your friendship with him that he is extremely liberal with us . Things are going so smoothly that I cannot contain my happiness" Dev was super elated.

"Dev...he was asking about some information about your company ..I mean I said no but thought you should know." She said cautiously.

"Oh its all right. He is your friend right. I trust him." He dismissed her concern.

Sona looked at his beaming face. Few happening from the past few days and the conversation from Elina had shook her today. She was contemplating something since many days...and she did manage to reach a decision today.

"Dev..i need to talk to you today..need to tell you something."

"Oh we can talk when we reach home. Abhi I am in mood to celebrate." Dev was too happy today.

"No Dev..i need to talk to you now. Celebration can wait."

Dev looked at his watch. It was 9 PM. They both would be home in an hour at least.

"What is so important that it could not wait Sona?" He queried.

"Ek favour karoge?" Sonakshi requested.

He nodded.

"Turn other side else I wont be able to speak"

"Arey..."

"Please"

He obliged. Why is she acting so strange now' He wondered.

"Dev bas meri baat sunna. Do not interrupt me in between okay."

"Ok"

And then Sonakshi started filling him in with the details from the start.

Ritwick had been after her since many days. Sona should have told her elders or atleast Dev about him which she didn't. Eventually she was tired of tolerating him. One day the guy surprised her by apologizing about his bad and inappropriate behavior. He seemed genuine and after loads of attempt from his side Sonakshi forgave him and decided to forget all about this story.

Sonakshi had always been a terrible driver. Saurabh, Bijoy and Dev did try their best to teach her but all their effort went in vain. Finally they all gave up and she was forced to take bus or depend on someone to drive her. That fateful day there was no one home..so she thought of driving the car to the public library . It was evening by then. While returning to her vehicle she met Ritwick in the road.

"Hi Sonakshi...how are you"

"I am good...a bit in a hurry to reach home on time"

"Okay..bye"

"What are you doing here?"

"I am waiting for my driver...god knows what is taking him so long."

"Your house is on the way right?"

"Yes.."

"Then hop on..i will drop you if you can tolerate my clumsy driving"

"Thanks..you are savior."

And so she gave him a lift. Everything was going fine till they reached deserted road. Ritwick causally kept his hand on her thigh making her awkward suddenly.

"Ritwick...please let me drive properly. Your actions are distracting me."

"Oh come on babes...I know you do have something for me and you are just playing hard to get.."

"I have a boyfriend for god's sake ..i cant believe I fell for your I am sorry' crap! Just get out of my car" She screamed.

Hearing this Ritwick couldn't control himself. He had been waiting for this opportunity since long now and Sona's attitude added fuel to the fire today. He pounced on her, shocking her in the process. In between all these struggle Sona by mistake hit the car parked on the road side. The car crashed to the tree very severely. It looked like a major accident. Ritwick was so scared that he ran away from the spot.

Sona came out of her car and rushed to the crashed car praying throughout. There was no response from the driver. She panicked but called the ambulance service and waited, till it arrived, hiding behind the groves.

"I should have told you that day itself..but Dev I was really scared ..so so scared"

Dev was surprised by her confession. Nothing made sense at all.

"Why are you telling me this today? And about that Ritwick..i will make sure..."he continued angrily.

"That was your dad's car" Sona answered softly..making Dev speechless.

"Five days later he died"She completed haltingly.

Room was eerily quiet now.
