We know there is a serious problem between Dev and Ishwari... is that they claim to know each other so well... but they just don't communicate.
Let's say Dev is not sharing.. or he is just shy to come and tell him mother... in this case shouldn't any mother go to her son and say...

"Do you like anyone... You know you can share it with me..."

Sometimes kids need a nudge, a reassurance ... and It's the parents job to provide it...

But again... Dev is the parent in this relationship I guess... so there goes my theory down the drain.

Ya true. 😛 although ishwari is Dev's mother but she acts more like the kid rather than him.

Actually this aspect of their relationship is not being handled properly. While Ishwari loves Dev almost to the exclusion of anyone else she also is territorial and egotistical when it comes to him as evidenced by her multiple proclamations regarding Dev not doing anything without her consent or at least being aware of it. So she is still consistent with her character.

Dev on the other hand isn't being consistent here as he never lies to her and rarely hides anything important and he is doing both. His ability to hide things from the 2nd most important person in his life weakens his character.

His character may not be able to understand little nuances in social/familial interactions but he was always straight with them. Hiding/deceiving his mother is a flaw that could have been avoided.

There are certain things where mother and son/daughter cannot share...especially when it comes to their private lives...like dating . I mean we are living in modern times, not the dark ages...even then there were secrets...😆
These are matters of privacy and hence mother should not feel that son has to report every thing to her..Respect their privacy and when the time comes, Dev will inform her.

However, Iswari is not shown to be strong here...she seems to be expect her son at her beck and call and listen to her only..

If given the opportunity, she would make a monk out of her son and condemn him to a life of celibacy!😆

Exactly my point. These are modern days and hence when a girl like Neha can claim to be in love, I fail to see what Dev is so embarrassed about.

I was watching the older episodes. And each time there is a question about marriage, Ishwari said this decision is for you to take. She eggs him on to live for himself and he asked her are you with me in my every decision ( After proposal to Sona) and she said Yes...

So according to me... Dev is just following her orders. Ma said take your decision, Ma said live for your self and I will support you...

Ishwari also mentions, I will not help you decide, you have to decide for yourself.. so... isn't that what he is doing?

So... like Dev says "Woh kehti nahi mein samajh jata hoon" ... He also probably feels the same ... ki mein na bolun aur ma samajh jaye...

Ishwari's problem doesn't seem like Dev is not telling her... It's about Dev not telling her first... In my opinion it's always the friends or siblings who come to know first.

The issue was never about the "choice" as to whether he can make his own or not but about informing her about it. He didn't secretly cancel his engagement did he ( I know he couldn't have but just saying it). He confidently shared that with his mother.

So I don't understand his reluctance in sharing this with his family. At the very least he can protect Sona from being harassed by GKB. He claims to be so caring or understanding of Sona why subject her to this all the time, leaving her locked up in his room and silently always apologising to her or not even that when Ishwari ridicules her during Payal ka scene.

No this is not Dev who is sure his mother understands and knows about him but a scared little boy who can't even protect his girl from being rediculed or insulted.

Tell me one thing, would Sona ever let her father/Nani talk to dev like GKB does to her??

Yes you know you are right. It's not like they are teenagers. I understand Dev not sharing with Ishwari too early in the relationship but if they can take wedding vows together there is no doubt in Dev's mind.
He had locked the room and was with Sona, obviously it is embarrassing. But now it's high time for him to share. Nothing is more important to him than Sona and his mom.

Ishwari mentioned during her birthday that they should focus on Neha's wedding.

So now that, that is done they should inform their families.

Confirmed: It's not a theory anymore 😉
Ishwari herself said she isn't sure if he is her child or she is his child 😆 she's such a puzzle!! In one of the initial episodes, when she threw that tray of food itself I knew she was the child. She needs to be cajoled & pampered. is that they claim to know each other so well... but they just don't communicate. can't agree more... This lack of communication is the root cause!
