A warm welcome to everyone who decided to peep in.🤗
To those who remember me, kudos to your unfailing memory.👍🏼 To those who don't, I'm just another member who decided to try my hand at writing once again.

Just Another Day

Dev sighed as he looked out the window in time to notice the rapidly darkening skies. The weather seemed to match his mood, he decided. The only difference between either was that he could not, would not cry. No, he thought with resolve. Crying is for the weak. And he'd rather be damned than be weak.

Time seemed to have changed the proud man Dev Dixit had once been. What remained was a stone cold, unfeeling, machine of a man. He could have been a robot, for all one cared. And it wouldn't have made a single difference.

His body lurched forward, as the car was brought to a sudden halt. His ire increasing, Dev snapped, 'Why did we stop?' . Beads of cold sweat formed on the visibly trembling driver's forehead, as he stammered, 'T..The engine has heated, Sir. The car w..won't start until it cools down.'
Clamping down on his anger, Dev replied, 'Call me when you are ready. I'll be at the cafe across the road'

Exhaling with relief, the driver nodded frantically as he opened the door for his master and then turned, moving towards the hood of the car.
Walking towards the cafe, he irritably wondered how much longer would he have to wait. Entering the vacant cafe, he settled for a table near the window.

Is a bit of service too much to ask for? was his only thought as he looked around the empty room. The sound of approaching footsteps, however, caused him to turn his head, eyes searching for the source.
Well, she certainly doesn't fit the bill, he thought, as he observed the profile of the woman standing before him. From the look of this place, he'd imagined an elderly lady to be the one running it, certainly not the woman before him.

She was...no, pretty was not the word for her. There wasn't a word, really, that seemed fit to describe her beauty. Though, beautiful certainly came close. She appeared to be a woodland nymph, with her halo of dark tresses framing her heart shaped face. Her lips were like a cupid bow...Currently turned upwards in a knowing smirk.

Pulling himself out of his reverie, he now noticed the arch of her eyebrow. His ears reddened, and trying to save his dignity he quickly said, 'Coffee. Black' as he turned to once again sit on his chair.

Hearing the 'Really? I would never have guessed. Bet his favorite color is black, too' indignant mutter of his lady caused an upward twinge of his lips.
His thoughts continued to be on the fiery woman as he tapped his foot. His attention wavered as a cup of steaming black coffee was placed before him.

'Your coffee, Sir. Black, as demanded.' said the woman, as she settled on the table beside him, her hands cupping her own cup of what appeared to be hot chocolate.

He sipped his coffee, savoring the strong taste as he observed the lady from the corner of his eye. So, not only fiery, but a spitfire too. Her sarcasm while using the word sir and the emphasis placed on the word demanded had been too strong to miss. While he should have felt offended, he was far too amused at her behavior to take offense.

'Tapping your foot is a bad habit, you know. I would have expected better from Your Highness' she said in a manner far too nonchalant to be true.

He immediately stopped tapping, feeling his own surprise at his obedience a moment later. He wondered at her audacity. Surely, she must be unaware as to his identity, else she wouldn't have dared reprimand him, Dev Dixit. Yes, that must be the reason. Feeling like using the age old tactic, he said , ' Do you know who you are talking to?'
'A human being? Though your behavior is more like that of an animal' was her quick retort.
Oh, this was the limit. 'Watch your tongue, lady.'
'I'd rather advise you to do the same when on my property, idiot'

Finding himself surprised at how much he enjoyed this verbal spar, he suddenly grinned. The smile was enough to throw the lady off guard, as she frowned and then, hesitantly smiled back.

Feeling at ease with their new found camaraderie, he leaned into his chair. 'So, are you the brooding type? You know, all time gloom and doom kind?' she asked, breaking the silence which had enveloped them,
'Apparently. What about you? Are you always on a sugar high?' he asked, feeling satisfied at the mock glare she sent his way.
'I'll have you know, Mr. Broody, that I can be perfectly serious, when the situation warrants it.' she retorted.
'Could have fooled me' he said, hiding his smirk behind the cup he brought to his lips.
'So, who are you, anyway?'
'Dev Dixit. And you are..?'
'Sonakshi Bose.'

The sudden ring of a cell phone broke the steady flow of their conversation. Rising, Sonakshi said, 'I'll be back in a minute.'

Trying to while away the minutes till Sonakshi's return, he felt a grimace forming on his face, as he noticed the bulky form of his driver approaching the cafe.

Raising his hand in a gesture of dismissal, he turned away the driver. Rising from his seat, he slipped the money for his order inside the menu, along with his card bearing his number and address. At the back of the card he wrote his personal phone number, along with two words: Call me.
Making his way out of the cafe, his thoughts remained on the enchanting Sonakshi Bose, who had so thoroughly captured his attention. There was something about her. He could not say what, yet. But that thought did not worry him. He had plenty of time to find out, after all.

Later, as he observed the form of Sonakshi waving cheekily and making gestures of phone calls as his car rode past her window, he realized that something had changed.

But, the again, changes happened everyday. So, all in all, it had been just another day. Yes, that's all it had been. Just Another Day. Or, he thought, Perhaps Not.

So, that's it. I just wrote it on a whim. So, I hope you'll forgive me if it comes out as a bit too abrupt. I hope you enjoyed the read.😳
To all my friends, I'm sorry for my unannounced absence. 😭I shall make certain not to repeat that particular folly.😉

You must write more on a whim. This was light hearted and fun. It reminded me of DevAkshi's early interactions. Lovely OS!

OMG Lils Di :)
What are those things which you may not always find in life... what's the word? Oh yeah, unicorns! Your magical piece of writing is one such. It is definitely not the regular shot of fan fiction you'd read which may be eventful or dreamy, but this was one of those that makes you completely relaxed. Almost like music without words, so soothing and so soft. What I'd say is that this is so breezy, with nothing quite chaotic, you can feel it happening right before you. Loved this sooo much <3

Keep writing and taking us to heaven,

You might not know me. But I know you very well. Welcome back, first of all. And when you were writing in the forum before, I was a silent reader. Your OS on the rain is one of the first I've read on this forum. And it was beautiful. One more thing, an you continue your FF?

This one was good as well. A setting completely different from the show though Sonakshi and Dev's characters are still similar to their onscreen ones. Please, write more. I'd love to read your work
