Devakshians! Hola! Quick one this late evening. Back in 2001, Farhan Akhtar made his mark writing and directing his first movie called Dil Chahta Hai. Earning a somewhat cult status, the movie received praise from both critics and the public. But I am not here to talk about the reasons for the popularity of this movie. I am here to talk about one particular scene where Aamir Khan who plays the character of Akash realises that he is in love with Shalini (played by Preity Zinta). All he was asked to do was close his eyes and to think about the person who he is wiling to die a thousand deaths for in order to spend just one moment with. The answer of course made him realise that he was deeply in love with Shalini. Thereafter, Akash sunk into a depressive state before finally fighting for his love.

Imagination and soul searching enabled Dev to finally picture the woman he really wants to be with. Hidden away in the corner of his heart, was a love that he was unknown to. A moment of darkness in his eyes brought eternal light to his life in the form of Sona. How easy it was for him to grab her hand and put that ring to her finger. How easily it brought a smile to his face. How quickly that smile disappeared when he opened his eyes to the harsh reality that he was now stuck. As they say, true realisation of love comes when the threat of losing it looms. Those last few minutes were perfect for a realisation scene. I don't think I have smiled as much, watching a male lead finally fall in love. It was the most beautiful few minutes ever. But those minutes also brought immense fear and confusion for Dev. This turmoil will continue as he launches into a monologue in front of his mirror tomorrow. It's time to face this new you Mr Aubhodro. It's time to embrace your love.

P.S. Shaheer Sheikh's light eyes have never looked more beautiful 😳

I don't think I have smiled as much, watching a male lead finally fall in love. Agreed. Can't stop smiling after watching the scene!
Well I guess after Dil Chahta hai, there were numerous adaptions! but this was the best I must say. Because of it's simplicity, it is better. Loved the post. 😳

Thank you :) Definitely agree with you, the simplicity of this realisation makes it better. The idea of posting this video from the movie was that it shows that realisations are not meant to be a long episode of emotions full of hyperventilating and running to that person. We're never going to see that happen with this show because its uniqueness is the simplicity behind every character and storyline. Love happens and when you feel it, you go with the flow. I am sure that tomorrow we will get to see and hear Dev breaking down in his own way what he has realised. He isn't going to go to Sona first. He will ensure that the person who will end up hurting the most doesn't get messed around with - Natasha. He will go to the person who he hopes will help him sort it out - Ishwari. That's the Dev we love :)

I have to say, South Indian women are truly stunning. The colour and embroidery on Erica's lehenga reminded me of a similar outfit Deepika Padukone once wore for Ram Leela promotions.

I kinda wrote same thing a while ago...about Dev's realization. He is going to make it right. Simply but surely. He will make his own path for Sonakshi.

About Erica's lehanga- that's why it looks familiar to me. Specially the embroidery and patch work but could not make it where have I seen that. Thanks for reminding 😆

Lovely post as always! 😊

I agree with your take on the most awaited moment of the show so far.., which was magical to say the least, in my humble opinion.

I often liked to think that Dev has indeed fallen for Sona as immensely as she had, and at the same time... the time of the accident and after. Only that love was buried in some delicate corner of his heart all this while, waiting patiently for it to be discovered. And shared.

And I feel the smoothness with which Dev imagined Sona as the one important person he's about to spend his lifetime with in yesterday's realisation scene had proven just that. For one can so easily and yet so richly visualize the love of their lives while wide awake only when one's been in love for long enough to start day dreaming of that person. 😆

All said, I can definitely say that I'm in love with the simplicity with which the makers have made both Sona and Dev fall in and realise their love.

Ah, and Shaheer's light brown eyes... what to say about those..! 😳
