Hello everyone,
Been busy for the past few days so wasn't coming here... I'm nursing a headache right now as well but I still felt like writing a bit on Dev today. :) Shaheer continues to surprise me and in a good way. I loved Dev's watchful, wary act throughout the date. He barely looked at Natasha. All he did was watch Sona closely trying to gauge the truth of the situation. Dev is right. Sona is a terrible, terrible liar. 😆 Neel was far more smooth. I was actually amused by Sona and Neel's brief interaction yesterday as well.. Somehow they just looked so comfortable there and far more like a couple than Dev and Natasha ever have. Today however was more a series of blunders. 😆
What I liked about this new character is how stark a contrast he is to Dev. They are both business tycoons.. Neel probably an even bigger one going by Dev and Natasha's complete shock when he told them who he was, but that is where the similarity ends. I'm curious to see if this makes Dev take a closer look at himself. He is always far too serious and all about work. Neel however, inspite of being a businessman as well still seems to know how to live and enjoy life, which is something that Sona constantly tells Dev to do. It is somewhat of a similar predicament that Sona has had with regards to Natasha. Dev and Natasha appear to have the same interests and seem fit for each other and the same goes for Sona and Neel. I want to see if it bothers Dev that Sona would prefer Neel over someone so boring like him.
Poor Sona though.. Caught between the dread of possibly being caught at her lie and plain jealousy on seeing Natasha and Dev. BTW Dev doesn't seem to care two bits about Natasha.. Sona was far more aware of Natasha's hand on his wrist.. Dev remained totally oblivious. 😆 I like how one half of him is skeptic about Neel being Sona's boyfriend at all and the other half is oh-so-bothered that it just might be true. BTW does Natasha look up on the background and career of every other businessman in search of a potential husband? 😕 Dev and Natasha knowing far more about Sona's 'boyfriend' than the lady herself was just 😆😆😆 I loved what Sona said about her being more shocked than even Dev and Natasha over her own boyfriend's identity. 😆
My favorite scene has to be the one between Ishwari and Dev. How good was Shaheer there! 👏 I loved the touch of petulance with which he asks his Mother about whether she had any knowledge about Neel. Dev is really such a child and Shaheer makes sure that you fall in love with this side of him. I was amused by how Ishwari was genuinely taken aback that such a question is even on Dev's mind. There she is all bothered about Dev and Natasha and her son 😆😆😆
It's interesting how in his head Dev already feels he has a right over Sona. He couldn't help but make a clipped comment during the date too about this. As far as he is concerned he should know everything that goes on in her life because hey, she knows everything that goes on in his life right? Give and take. 😆 I loved Monday's scene too... He looked so genuinely upset and hurt when she said she doesn't consider him a close friend whereas he considers her as his bestfriend. She's not just your bestfriend Dev. I also liked how Sona had realized that she had upset him and had tried to take it back. I love this particular sense of maturity and understanding between these two.
Anyway coming back to today, oh that beautiful beautiful parallel where Ishwari assumes that Sona having a boyfriend bothers Dev because she might neglect his Mother! Yes, once upon a time, that had been the only reason why Dev hadn't liked the idea of Sona marrying a certain Mr. Roy but now the tables have turned. Now Dev's dilemma is an entirely different one. I loved how for a brief moment Dev looked almost in pain at the idea of Sona marrying Neel or just marrying someone one day. Such a subtle, nuanced act by Shaheer! 👏 I loved Dev's changing expressions as his Mother's words registered; the inner conflict within him came through beautifully in these bits. Then ofcourse he just lashes out a bit over why they are even talking about Sona's potential MIL and surprises Ishwari with his outburst. This is no longer about Dev losing his 'best employee' and his Mother's nutritionist. This is about Dev losing his dearest friend and that one very special woman who has both figuratively and literally brought so many colors in to his life, someone whom he has opened his heart to and ultimately someone he can't imagine his life without.
