Hey guys, sorry its been forever since my last update. It was very hard for me to continue writing this SS. When I started it , I did so on a whim and wrote down whatever I wanted in a particular moment with no end in mind. However I decided to get out of my head and post something in the hopes that it might inspire me to continue. Thanks for the support ❤️

Part V

Dev walked into the house completely distraught. For the first time in his life he did not know what to do.

When he was with Sona the everything seemed so simple, his picture perfect life was within reach. But as soon as he got home and saw the look on his mother's face everything changed. All he saw were the years of sacrifice and the love she had for him. How could he be selfish now and claim his happiness in exchange for hers.

Lost in his thoughts Dev didn't notice Ishwari calling out to him. He stormed up the stairs and locked himself in his room. Ishwari sensing his mood decided not to disturb him.Like him even she had a lot to think about.

She walked up to her room,sat on the bed and looked around at the lavishness that surrounded her. She wondered if it was all worth it. Sure they might have been poor before but at least she was happy.Her son was with her. Now all she did was watch him struggle between the decision he wanted to make and the one he felt he had to.

She slowly drifted off to sleep lost in memories of the past when suddenly she heard a sound. It wasn't a loud sound but it was who it was coming from that shocked her. Standing in front her of her was her husband, just as she remembered him, clad in white with that knowing look on his face.

"Its been a while Ishwari" he said in a way that spoke volumes about his love for her. "I don't know if I should offended that you only think of me when things get rough" he continued.

She walked around the room pausing at her husbands garlanded photograph. "I guess...I never needed to before".

He walked up and stood behind her admiring the photo of himself. "Why do you think you need me now then" he asked not missing a beat.

"Cant you see" she spit out dejectedly. "I have nobody."

"Thats not what I see" he said knowingly taking her face into his hands. "I see the son you raised, who loves you more than anything and I see his beautiful wife who treats you like her own mother. That definitely is not nobody."

"Thats how it used to be, Its not like that anymore" she complained. "She's taken him away from me."

He chuckled at that. "Like you took me away from my mother all those years ago?" he asked forcing her to recall his mothers words. She scowled at him "Its nothing like that and you know it."

"Do I?" he interjected. She walked away from him, sitting back down on the bed. Not liking where the conversation was heading.

"How is it that you are a part of my imagination and are still taking her side." she argued.

He sighed sitting on the bed beside her. "Maybe because both of you are on the same side... Dev's side." He paused in thought for a while before continuing " or maybe because you've known what you have to do all along... you just needed to hear it from someone else."

Ishwari sighed in defeat resting her head against his shoulder. "I wish you were here" she whispered. "Then everything would be easy."

"I wish I were there too" he admitted, serious for the first time that night. Then they just sat, leaning on each other, there for each other and Ishwari felt something she hadn't felt in a while. Contentment.
