Still . Incapable of comprehension.
Her Maa , Daadi , Dada ; worrying , crying .
Her Baba was her strength, her mentor , her guide.
Baba had suffered a major heart-attack , and his chances at survival looked thin. Being a doctor , she knew the odds and it broke her .
Her phone blared with the name 'Mr. Dev Dixit'
She cut it the first time , but Mr.Dixit continued to call .
She took the call .
"Dr.Bose it's eight . Aap Abhi Tak Nahi Aayi?" Dev said .
The other end was silent .
"Dr.Bose, I'm talking to you ."
There was still no response.
"Dr.Bose , Is everything alright"
The silence made him worry , it wasn't something he was accustomed to with her .
"Baba" she said , her voice trembling , shaking .
"Ms.Bose" his voice mellow .
"Heart-attack" she managed to say before she broke down on the phone.
"Mr.Bose Ko Kuch Nahi Hoga , trust me" He said.
"Baba" She said .
"Kuch Nahi Hoga" He said .
Her pain was grieving him. It wasn't the first time something had affected him but it was the first time he felt like it was happening to him .
Something inside pained a little to much listening to her cry.
"Tina cancel all my meetings . And forward the number of the best cardiologist in Delhi now."
"Sure Sir, Is everything okay at home?"
"No"
He didn't know why he said that . He didn't want to . For now all that mattered was being there for Sona.
He rushed to the hospital , at the entrance of which he saw her , alone , crying .
He went there and sat beside her , quietly .
She looked at him , her eyes drenched with tears .
"Baba" she said.
He looked at her . He held her hand . She buried her face into his chest .
He didn't stop her , he let her cry . He placed a hand around her , in a partial embrace .
His phone rang , it said 'Maa' . He cut the phone. He would never do that , he had never done that , but today he did . Why? He didn't know.
She composed herself and got up .
He didn't say a word . He didn't feel the need to .
She went to her family "Dada , Aap Maa Aur Daadi Ko Lekar Ghar Jaao Mein Yahan Rukti Hoon"
"Nahi Shona , Tum Akele " Maa said .
"Aunty Ji , Mein Rahunga"
She looked a little skeptical but Dada was convinced .
"Chalo Maa" Dada said and they headed homewards.
------
It was hours into the midnight and neither of them had spoken a word . He sat beside her . He wasn't holding her hand , she wasn't laying her head on him , but there wasn't a moment where they weren't by each other .
Baba was being operated by the best cardiologist in Delhi , she was now a little more hopeful . She looked at him her eyes with gratitude , he looking at her with reassurance .
Amidst the spoken and unspoken two hearts found solace in each other .
While his phone lay at a distance with 8 missed calls from Maa.
