The story will be different from the soap, the point of divergence being that though Sona returns the box to Ishwari (who did not cry over it), Dev knows nothing of the matter. So, here goes:

Part 2

Sonakshi could feel his eyes on her as soon as she walked into the room. She lifted her eyes, matching the gaze of the infuriating Mr.Aubhodro. The audacity of that man! Who did he think he was? If he thought she was going to cower under his gaze, then he had a thing or two coming.

She remembered his apology in the morning and, make no mistake, she had forgiven him. But he hadn't yet apologized for his past sins. Yes, sins. The insufferable man didn't realize the true repercussions of what he had done. He had effectively, single handedly, destroyed her reputation as a nutritionist in the medical industry.

There was no guarantee whether she'd be able to secure a good job if he ever decided to fire her. Her career was now completely at his mercy, and she did not appreciate it.

She had reflected on her behavior these past couple of days and needless to say, she was shocked. She, who had prided herself on her courage, had backed down. It was not to be borne. She had resolved, then, that if he ever dared to treat her again in such a manner, there would be hell to pay.

He averted his gaze as she continued walking towards him. Good, she thought, it's high time he learnt when to back down.

As she reached him, she tripped. She closed her eyes waiting for the impact. To her surprise, she did not fall. She opened her eyes.

A spark of electricity ran through her hands, which were held by his', preventing her from falling. She looked at him, stunned. His honey brown eyes seemed to veritably soften as they looked into her steely gray ones.

She could see his eyes shining with emotion, but which? She couldn't make it out, though not for lack of trying. The sound of a throat clearing broke the moment. She looked at the traitor, Ria, whose amusement seemed etched on her face.

'Thank you.' she said, pulling her hands away, inwardly reprimanding herself for getting lost in the moment.

Her clipped, curt tone seemed to startle him, as he flinched. Very good, she thought, far be it from me to pretend everything's dandy.

'Sonakshi,'said Kushal, 'I must admit you look rather pretty today.' She glanced at him, her ire now directed at him for insinuating that she looked ugly every other day. It was funny though, she hadn't even noticed him until he made his presence known.

'Just pretty? I, on the other hand, believe she looks absolutely beautiful. Don't you agree, brother?' Said Ria, her eyes sparkling with mischief as she looked at her brother.

'Yes, now please excuse me' said Dev, as he took his leave.

What is it with him, anyway? He looked like he had swallowed a lemon while agreeing with his sister. Why do you care? Asked a tiny voice at the back of her head. She started, unable to answer her own question.

As she walked out of the room, Kushal by her side, her last thought was that though Mr. Roy had gained Ria's approval, she somehow didn't believe that he would ever be able to gain hers.

She would have been worried, however, had she been able to hear Ria's last thought, which was, 'I think it's time to play cupid'

I absolutely love this! Its bloody amazing! I think your words are like a waterfall splashing in my mind like music. Its really melodic and subtle emotions have been written like magic. Keep writing.
