Chapter 2 - incomplete
Her eyes shining bright, Kumudini looks at the money on the table. She couldn't remember the last time she was this happy. Putting the money in a bag she thinks gleefully, "it is time to share my happiness." Without a hint of regret, she looks to her daughter and says, "Tulsi come with me. Today we shall avenge all our insults."
An upset Tulsi looks towards the stairs and says brokenly, "aai, you could have put a stop to this." Kumudini says dismissingly, "it is part of being a devdasi. I went through it. You went through it. There is nothing to be upset about. Come. Soon you shall be filled with joy." Curious, Tulsi follows her mother.
Kumudini walks forcefully into Pradyumna Rao's home. Furious that she dare step into his home, Pradyumna Rao roars, "how dare you..." Glaring with a triumphant smile, Kumudini interrupts, roaring back, unfazed by his aggressive demeanor, "I dare... I dare much more." She looks towards the stairs, her expression defiant and almost gleeful as she watches the family members come down the stairs with surprise etched on their features. Kumudini says, "I am very happy today." Tulsi steals an apologetic glance as she reads the contempt and unhappiness around her. Worry gnawing her as she wonder what spectacle her aai was planning to make.
His gaze filled with contempt and smugness, Pradyumna Rao sits on his chair and says, "of course... Congratulations, so you have another dancer in the family... Your earnings shall increase."
Walking up to Pradyumna Rao with an equally smug expression, Kumudini puts the bag of money in front of him and says, "not I, but you." Without seeking permission Kumudini sits on the chair next to Pradyumna Rao and says with a smirk, "it is I that should be saying congratulations." Frowning Pradyumna Rao opens the bag that is set in front of him. Seeing the money he stands up, affronted, asks, "what is the meaning of this.
