Dasavatharam's judgment day

The case against Dasavatharam reached the final stage yesterday (27th May, 2008). After hearing the arguments of both the petitioner and the respondents Justices M. Sathyanarayanan and K. Venkatraman posted the case for judgment on 29th May. The petitioner's allegation that Dasavatharam hurts the sentiments

of Vaishnavites was refuted by the Censor Board, the producer and the director, as it was based on imagination. It may be recalled that Govind Ramanujadasar, President of the International Sri Vaishanava Dharam Samrakshana filed a petition in the High Court alleging that scenes showing Kamal stamping on the Om Mantra and Bagavad Gita should be deleted. He also alleged that the Central Censor Board must withdraw the certificate given to the film. However, the Censor Board, which happens to be one of the respondents, contended that it is not necessary to withdraw the certificate, as there were no such scenes in the film. Meanwhile Santha Chidambaram of Kalyana Suba Samiti also filed a petition in the High Court alleging that Dasavatharam has twisted the historical events. On hearing all the parties to the suit, the Judges posted the case for judgment on 29th May.

Looks like when the releasing date is coming nearing, things are also getting worse with many petitions etc😕

Okay, stamping on Om Mantra and Bagavad Gita is bad and hurts many peoples sentiments but how do they knows D have twisted historical events without seeing the movie? Inside info?😕

Yes.. the same feeling here.
After all that hype surrounding Aalavandan/Baba, I was disappointed with both.

I'm a little sensitive to the Saivite vs. Vaishnavite bit surrounding the movie. My earlier interest is somewhat dimmed by this controversy. Although I'm not a religious fanatic, I can't definitely take Kamal showing Saivites in bad light - history or misrepresentation of it. I hope the movie doesn't hurt the sentiments of either devotional group.

Suram.. MovieCity in OakTree Road seems to be showing this starting Fri 6/6 for $16. I'm not that crazy about this movie any more, to pay so much . Do you think waiting it out may lead to lower ticket price? Or is this the new ticket price - haven't watched Indian movies recently in big screen, so don't know the recent trend.

Yep Jenim... I am also not too comfortable with the shaivaits vs the vaishnav bit here... Indiala yerkanave romba prarchanai.. ithula theyvai illama ethukku pudhusa onnu.

Frankly, I am confused... Kamal -Ravikumar combo was a success earlier, but this one ... I donno if it will have the same brand of comedy or will it be serious!! Lets wait and watch!

As far as Oak Tree goes, Jen, I have my reservations... i am NOT crazy about Oak tree..esp.. movie theaters in oaktree... ayyo ange pona ..romba tension aaiduven!😳.. plus $16 is pretty steep yaar. They always do that with hyped-up indian movies esp. tamil movies..Paarkalaam .. some of my friends will def. go.. vanthu polambinaa naan thappichennu ,will be happy ..it they say it was good then I may go...😃

I saw those new trailers from suntv 😃 They looks stunning....tsnami, kamal in different get ups, asin etc 😊

I just hope and pray they dont have any adult stuff--my ghosh..its so embarassing to watch Kamals movie with family... 🤢

They have postponed for a long time now...grr...thought June 6th will be the D-day...but looks like I have to wait more.

jenim, suram...does it cost 16 bucks 😲 I guess they have raised it all around the world...it cost 150 KR aka around the double rate from US 😡
