Gautham rips Bheema!

Gautham Vasudeva Menon is a gutsy guy. In the weekly column
"love/hate" in "The Hindu", Cinema Plus (Feb 8), he has ripped Vikram-
Lingusamy Bheema to shreds!
The film Gautham loves is Mani Ratnam classic Nayakan, which he says is
his "all time favourite film". And why he hates Bheema, Gautham
explains- "when you see Bheema, you are left wondering what Vikram
saw in the narration and in the first place made him sign a film like this.
The way it was made, it was a rip-off of so many films without a trace of
originality running through it."

The ace director further asks- "When you see a film that has a scene that
reminds you of your own film, you don't know whether they are trying to
emulate you or imitate you… In so many places, it was like
Thalapathy, like Company, like Kaakha Kaakha and the last scene was
straight out of The Departed. More than being a film I hate, it was a film
that completely disappointed me."

Will Vikram and Lingusamy defend their much publicised "classic with
never-seen-before stunning climax" ?

I agree. In fact, many of the scenes reminded me of Kaaka Kaaka. Let's see what responses these guys will make.

Only Goutham Menon has the b*lls for saying such things! 😆

In a recent interview, he even ripped the movie Sivaji and Dir.Shankar. He didn't spare even the comic lines in the movie - "Vaanga Pazhagalam". He said the intent of those lines with the black painted on the twin girls was atrocious, to say the least!

I haven't watched Beema yet, could say that I lost a li'l interest after reading some of your comments on the movie. I read a very funny review on this recently and the reviewer says, the relationship narrated between Vikram's character and PrakashRaj's character was unmistakably so g*y 😆 The reviewer gives so many examples.. the review itself was so funny, but that comment made me lose total interest in the movie!

If you ask me, GM has no right to talk abt rip offs, when his own PMKC was supposed to be ripped off from 'The derailed'. The diff is that GM did say that 'its my version of the English movie'

Vikram had said that he did Bheema only for its climax,;if the climax itslef was a rip off, how come he didn't notice, being the 'intellectual' he is in choosing movies and scripts?

I think there's a "huge" difference here.
Kaaka Kaaka was Menon's movie and if Beema had "ripped off" some from KK, then Menon has all the rights to scream.

That said, Menon's PKMC was a poor rip off the original "Derailed". And I think I may've already said that before in another thread.
