Thanks Anj, great post😊
I was sooo looking forward to this as I am a die-hard fan of ARR. I must admit, first time I heard the songs, I was slightly disappointed. I thought what has happened to my idol's work? Where has the magic of his old school music (like Roja, Bombay, etc) gone?

It's only when I heard the tracks again a few times over, that I realised that the genius wiil always be in him! Instead of sticking to what he's good at like certain other current music directors (ahem, no names mentioned), Rahman is breaking boundaries with his music. This album is definitely quirky, as the man himself has coined it, but his magic is still there.

I like them all but my favourite tracks are Mannipaya and Aaromale. Ah Mannipaya - those lyrics are beautiful. Shreya Ghoshal and Rahman's vocals combined - amazing! Of his recent albums, I'm begininning to notice a trend that I always like the song that he sings, the most though it is not always the most popular. And Mannipaya is definitely the 'odd' one in the album.
Aaromale is also beautiful. I love Blues-y feel of it. A lot of people have said it reminds them of Pink Floyd, which I agree with, but with an Indian twist. Joseph Alphonse is excellent. Even though I don't understand a word of Malayalam, I can enjoy this song. The music speaks for itself.😊
