Netra, what I liked about him is that his comedy was always refreshing. All you members who have grown up on Goundamani, Senthil, Vadivelu, go and watch his films. Then you will understand why K.B. Balachander used Nagesh to critically assess the greatest actor after Sivaji, Kamal Hassan.

My favourite Nagesh role is that of Thiruvilayadal. 😃

Agreed Roja, I too thought, that Nagesh is a better actor than the great Sivaji. He can make the audience cry and laugh at the same time.

I remember in one picture he acted with AVM Rajan and this was a serious role, it was a real tearjerker. Some of the movies I cannot remember the name, but I do remember the scenes very well. I feel he was best paired with Manorama. Only 2 weeks ago they showed him pairing with KR Vijaya. It was so funny. My mum and I were laughing so much. 😆😆 His characterisation is he thinks everything in negative way and goes beyond exaggeration and to see him romantic with KR Vijaya and in comedy is to die for. 😃

Yes, I thought he and KRV were so cute, being lovey-dovey and all. 😆

I can't agree that Nagesh is better than Sivaji, although Sivaji has gone on record to state that he had stolen the scene in Thiruvilayadal (you won't have many "heroes" admitting that) but such was Nagesh's versatility that he used to have several shootings each day. So directors, actors and camera crew had to adjust their times accordingly....he would spare them 2 hours each per day. Pity alcoholism and a quarrel with MGR took its toll.

I saw Jerry Lewis being feted at the Oscars....they showed snippets from his old films....and I thought how superior Nagesh was!!
