For over two weeks, Narayani Shastri (Taashu) had stopped shooting for the Balaji daily Kkusum (Sony TV).

As the former wife of Abhay (Anuj Saxena), Taashu and her son Trishul (Akashdeep Saigal) were to wreak havoc in Abhay and Kkusum's (Manasi Joshi Roy) lives.

But after waiting for her character and track to take off, barely two months after being called back in the soap, she has called it quits. Shastri tells us what made her take this decision…

The vitriolic Taashu is losing her sting.
There was nothing much for Taashu to do in the track; she was going nowhere. When I was called back into the soap after over a year, it was for a specific purpose, i.e. to make Kkusum's life go topsy-turvy. That was not happening in the track.

Why is that?
There are too many characters in Kkusum. Moreover, there are a bunch of negative characters presently. I didn't want to be part of a group and mouth my lines every now and then.

Were you unhappy with the character?
I waited for a while before taking the decision. It was an amicable decision. I have told the Balaji folk that whenever there is anything for me, I will be back.

So now there's time to take up another assignment?
Yes. I am looking at doing a weekly now.

What about your other show Piya Ka Ghar (Zee TV)?
Ever since the show got a new director and took a generation leap, things have not been the same. Former director Chander Behl had done a very good job with the show. Piya Ka Ghar had a strong storyline and never resorted to gimmicks. Now things have changed. Let's see how the show shapes up in the next three months.

You have also done the Marathi film Pak Pak Pakaak with Nana Patekar.
Yes. It is releasing in mid-April and I am really looking forward to it.
