This is the interview from TV guide, deccan chronicle! Sorry if posted b4!
ENJOY!
Full of beans, Natassha is said to be Ekta Kapoor's favourite. In Natassha's words, "Ekta has been my strength throughout. She has offered tremendous support." When Balaji Telefilms singled her out for the lead role in Kavyanjali, nobody was surprised.
Pitted against Amrita Singh, who she says, "is an amazing actress and we share a very good rapport," this is one saas-bahu duo, that electrifies the screen. Natassha once hoped Kavayanjali would be the turning point in her career. Looks like her dream is coming true. She also has a few film offers lined up.
Excerpts from an interview
Before Kavayanjali happened you were not really known, especially on TV. So Kavyanjali gave you a boost. I've done a lot of work for Balaji Telefilms. What happened was that after Krishna Cottage I didn't get any good offers. This role came my way. That's why I took it on. But I took my time over the decision.
While everyone else goes from television to films, I was the opposite — went from films to television. Television is a big medium now. There is no demarcation between films and television. Many film stars, big ones mind you, are doing television these days.
You started off in the South.
Yes, I started my career in South Indian films, then did Kabhi Souten Kabhi Saheli on TV. Then I did Kuch To Hai. I now have three films here including Koi Apsa, and eight in the South.
Does it mean you are getting back to films?
I am now doing both, films and television. Both are equally important. As an actor both are satisfying. In films you get 16-17 scenes and it gets over in 3 hours. But in a serial the characters have more shades. TV gets better with each episode.
But I am not going to do any films which are inconsequential and insignificant. I have allotted 20-22 day shifts for Kavayanjali, then I am doing some films. I am doing a great comedy — Ek Se Bhure Do with Arshad Warsi and Rajpal Yadav. I have never done comedy so it is something I am really enjoying.
Any favourite role so far?
So far my best role is Koi Apsa. It's really good. I play a tomboyish character in the first half and in the second half circumstances have her get serious and she's a single mother towards the end of the movie. It's an amazing role for an actor to do; it has a lot of scope for performance.
