Part 6

Arohi stood in front of mirror and looked at her devastated state..her hair were total mess..the kajal has spread on her face..there were few cuts and bruises on her pale skin..she removed the jacket and looked at her torn sleeve...just then there was a knock on door..she quickly wore back the jacket..

Arohi: come in..she whispered wondering who it can be..maybe Maya..but as the door knob turned and Arjun entered in..she was shocked to see him..

He with few small steps came closer to her..

Arjun: how are u feeling now?

Arohi: better..she said in a slow whisper..

Arjun: I came to chk ur wounds..sit..he ordered her..

Arohi: m fine sir..

Arjun: sit..i didn't asked u..he said in stern voice..

Arohi sat on edge if bed as Arjun pulled a stool to sit in front of her..he carefully held his foot and kept it on his thigh..he opened the box and took out cotton and bandage..

Arohi tried to pull back her foot but he kept it there firmly..he cleaned the wound with cotton which made her hiss in pain..he looked at her and tried his best not to hurt her again...

He carefully dressed her wound and kept her foot carefully on floor..

He stood up from stool and sat beside her..

Arjun: take out the jacket..

Arohi hesitated a bit..

Arjun: I need to apply ointment Arohi..so..

Arohi removed the jacket feeling awkward..Arjun turned his face to other side and once she kept the jacket side he turned towards her applied ointment on her bruised areas without looking at torn sleeve..

Arjun thought of asking her about the boy and her family..but before he could ask Maya entered with food and spare clothes..

Maya: Kumud mam ne inke liye khana aur kuch kapde bheje h..

Arjun nodded and stood up..he signaled her to keep it beside Arohi..

Arjun: Maya make sure she eats her food and see to it she gets everything she needs..he then looked at Arohi..take care..m just two doors away..feel free to call if u need anything..he said in concerned voice and turned to leave when Arohi's soft voice stopped him..

Arohi stood up and moved towards him...

Arohi: thank u sir for everything u did for me today..m really grateful to u..

Arjun just nodded with a sense of understanding..

Arjun: don't think about that anymore..u r safe now..he said in a sincere voice...now u go have ur food and sleep well..good night..

Arohi: good night sir..she said as Arjun turned and left the room..

It was past midnight but sleep was still far from Arjun's eyes..he was standing near window looking outside in the endless sky...he hadn't reached on time the things could have been worsened..

He could see the pain and fear in Arohi's eyes..the incident brought back the memories of his scarred past...somewhere she might be also going through same pain and fear alone..he wondered loud..he saved Arohi today..but if he had been on time that day too..he could have prevented that horrible day from his life..that awful morning which shattered his life..she was too oblivious of what was happening with her..only if she knew..only if he knew...a lone tear slipped from his eye remembering her lifeless face..

He looked out in the sky..

Arjun: I don't believe in u..i don't believe in ur existence..and why should I when u had snatched the most precious thing of my life..my happiness..my everything..but Arohi says..u exist..so please don't make her suffer like her..i don't want her to lose belief in u..because when trust breaks it hurts...when truth strikes it shatters...and I don't want her to go through all this..he prayed to god...he prayed for Arohi even if he had lost all his faith in him three years back...

He wiped his tear stained cheeks and closed his eyes composing himself..Arohi's chirpy face flashed in front of his eyes..he opened his eyes astoundingly..he was shocked..

Arjun: Arohi..! but why? He pondered..he remembered his first meet with her..he was impressed by her confidence..and their later meetings..her advice..his apology..her understanding..how her changed behaviour irked him..how restless he became seeing her upset and lost..the girl definitely has some affect on him..seeing her in this state today killed him..her tears were like acid to him..when she withdrew from his arms..he felt an emptiness..he wanted to keep her there and protect her from everyone...but still the question was why?

In last 3 years he had not even noticed any girl so carefully let alone getting this much affected..even before that it was only her but then also he never felt so much driven towards her as he feeling towards Arohi...

There were so many questions budding in his mind..he blocked all questions..he was not willing to find their answers..he closed the window and tried sleeping..but just then he heard a loud shriek from Arohi's room..he ran towards her room immediately..

After lots of turns she had finally fell asleep but the memories of horrible incident were still fresh in her mind..she had a bad dream about it..and woke up with a start..she was still catching her breath when the door of her room pushed open and Arjun entered in with anxious expression on his face..he switched on the lights and rushed to her..

Arjun: Arohi..u ok? he looked at her sweaty and petrified state..

Seeing him Arohi just threw her in his arms and hugged him still terrified with dream..Arjun worriedly hugged her back giving her the security she was craving for..it didn't took him a moment to realize that she had a bad dream..he rubbed her back soothing her..

Arjun: pssht...its ok..its ok..everything is ok..he lighly whispered in her ear calming her down..he pulled back feeling her relax..he picked up glass of water from stand and made her drink it..just then his dadi and parents entered in..

Dadi: Arjun puttar ki hoya? She asked worried about her..

Arjun: kuch nhi Dadi..she saw a nightmare..he kept the glass back on stand..

Dadi nodded concerned and sat beside her comforting her..

Dadi: everything is fine..she patted her back as Arohi lightly nodded..

Arohi looked everyone and with an assuring smile told them to leave as she was feeling fine but Dadi volunteered to stay wth her and Arohi agreed without denying..

Rudra and Kumud left but Arjun stayed for few minutes until he was sure that she was fine now he went back to his room getting few more questions rising in him..

Arjun entered in Arohi's room with angry face as his mother informed him that she was getting ready for office

Arjun: Miss Arohi..what is this? He frowned

Arohi: m really sorry sir..i borrowed Rashi mam's clothes for a day..i took permission from Kumud mam..i will return them tomorrow..

Arjun hushed her: that's not wat m talking abot! Wat in the world makes u think u r going office?

Arohi: sir..m perfectly fine..she started but Arun again stopped her..

Arjun: I get that but..u r still having off for today..he said sternly..

Arohi: but sir..

Arjun: right m the boss and I will decide..and u r not coming office today infact u r going to rest whole day so I can have my chirpy and confused P.A. back..he said the last part softening and with a small smile..

Arohi had no choice than to agree with him..she nodded with a small smile..

Arohi: okay sir...then I will go back to my place now..she said in a casual voice..

Arjun: hell u are going back to that place again? Firstly I don't understand why ur family is even allowing u to stay..that place is so unsafe for u to live..i am going to talk with ur family..before he could continue his phone rang and he missed the sad look of her face..he didn't saw her silent tears..

He got busy on his phone and turned to leave but moved back to her..

Arjun: will talk to u in evening..u r not going back there..he whispered as he rushed out talking on phone..he met Dadi on door who was there with cup of coffee..he gave her an assured smile and left..

Arohi quickly composed herself..

Dadi: Coffee..she kept it on table..Arohi gave her a small smile and excused herself to go washroom..

Arjun was sitting in his cabin..he was having hard time working without Arohi..numerous times he had picked his intercom to call her in cabin but then realized that she is not there..it has not been more than 3 weeks and he had become this habitual of her..he wondered amazed..

He cancelled all his meetings for day..he was not feeling like working today...for last 3 years work has been his escape route from all the pain of past..but today it was all different..today he was not escaping from the past and it was also not coming haunting him..his mind was occupied with Arohi..wat work couldn't do..wat others couldn't do..Arohi did..

He looked at wall clock..it was striking 5..he picked his car keys and left..he had enough..he couldn't take it more..

Arohi had just woke up from her long nap..she had slept for 3 hours..Arjun;s mom and dadi had been too sweet to her..she didn't felt like some stranger or guest in his house..he along with his whole family wa so caring and understanding towards her..his mother and grandmother were showering love on her which she had always craved for..in just one day she was feeling a connection with them..

And Arjun..she had never imagined sadu can be so sweet and caring..she had found that he portrays himself as strict rude and arrogant person but inside he has a genuine heart like everyone but feeling his this side was all too a different story...

She was still list in his thoughts when Arjun entered in..he clicked his fingers infront of her to bring her out...

Arohi looked him amazed..blnking her eyes few times..

Arjun cleared his throat uncomfortably on her stare..

Arjun: Mom told u r sleeping..

Arohi collected herself..

Arohi: umm..i ...I just woke up..

Arjun nodded and sat infront of her as she made some space for him..

There was a few minutes of silence when Arjun spoke up..he wanted few answers and he knew now Arohi was able enough to answer them..

Arjun: who was he? Ur boyfriend? He had a stinging feeling as he asked the question..dont no why but he was praying Arohi to say NO..

Arohi looked him shocked: NO..he was not my boyfriend..

Arjun relieved...but he dint let it to show on his face..

Arohi: he is gunda of our locality..she continued and told him about few instances when he had bothered her before last night..

Arjun's face turned red in anger..he fisted his hands to control himself..

Arjun: u should have told me earlier..last night's situation wouldn't have arised..he said gritting his teeth..

Arohi: I was too scared..i didn't wat to do..i had no one..she started in frail voice only to be shut by him..

Arjun: No One..!! he almost shouted...I asked u million times..okay I understand u were not comfortable talking with me but ur family...wat about ur family..he calmed himself..as this was not time to shout on her..where ur family lives? I want their number...give me..i will talk to them..i don't know whether u have told them anything or not..but now they need to know as police is involved in maater now..why haven't u complained to police earlier...I thought u were confident and smart girl..but no..u..he stopped as he finally saw her tear filled eyes..which were ready to burst any moment..

Arohi: m sorry sir I troubled u so much..i think its time for me go..i can take care of myself..i had done always..she stood up from bed but Arjun pulled her back making her sit on bed..

Arjun: u r taking it absolutely wrong Miss Arohi..i am not asking for ur parents number so that they can take u from here..but for letting them know about u..its their right..and they deserve to know about u..he sadi as calmly and kindly he could..

In response he just heard a sob from Arohi..and then few more..

He panicked: Miss Arohi..m sorry if I had hurt u but I had no intentions of doing so..he forced her to look him..her eyes were completely red and cheeks were tear stained..wats the matter Miss Arohi? He asked sternly..everytime he raise the topic of her family..he see this sadness and pain in her eyes..is she having some problems with her family? He wondered..

He was keenly looking at Arohi to reply..Arohi looked down and then in almost inaudible voice whispered..

Arohi: I am an orphan sir...I don't have family like everyone..she closed her eyes letting her tears fall freely..

Arjun's eyes popped open on knowing the reality..he not even in his wors dreams had thought that this might be the case...a series of his own statements ran through his mind..

"agr family friends boyfriend ke sath time spend karne ka itna shaunk h toh jao jakr khud karo..dont give me ur advices"

"u should spend some time with ur family and friends..it will be a great stress buster for u..u are working so hard from last few weeks..u need some quality time I guess.."

"u urself told me Miss Arohi that our family deserves our time..so now why r u shying away? Go get urself pampered with mothers food and dad's love..and u girls are anyway princess of ur fathers..i remember how my sister has always my dad on her side in our each fight..m sure u would also have a sibling with whom u would have this love hate relationship..he smiled a bit remembering his childhood fights.."

"Firstly I don't understand why ur family is even allowing u to stay..that place is so unsafe for u to live..i am going to talk with ur family " and the words he just said to her now..he had no idea his mere words could have hurt her so much deep..he was feeling guilty to unknowingly always hit her on sensitive point...

Arjun: I am really sorry..Miss Arohi..he said in remorseful voice...

Arohi whimpered not able to control..as pain of not having family overpowered her..

Arjun pulled her roughly in his arms as her whole body started shocking..she struggled to get free..she just wanted to run away from there and wanted his herself until she cry her heart out..

Arjun didn't loosened his grip..he kept her firm in his arms hugging her tightly..after some more trying she finally gave in and broke down in his arms..she had stopped crying for family at a very younger age but she had always craved for a family...all these years these tears had mustered up in her heart and today fially they were getting there way out..all the pain she had always hid in her heart was coming out..today she had no control over it..she cried until her tears didn't died..Arjun all the while just held her strongly in his arms letting her cry...he wanted her to let everything out..he knew it was necessary for her to cry..once her cries dies down to hiccups he patted her back lightly and made her drink water..

Arjun: feeling better? He asked concerned..

Arohi just nodded wiping her tears..

Arjun: m very sorry Arohi for unintentionally hurting u..i never knew wat I was doing..

Arohi shook her head in denial..

Arohi: u need not to be sorry sir..u were just being concerned..its not ur fault..she said in her still heavy voice..

Arjun: even if I say I wouldn't be able to understand ur pain..i always thought u r confident and smart but I never knew u r this strong..u r a very tough girl Miss Arohi..i have no idea what I should do or say to make u feel any better but I want u to know it that u r not alone now...m there for u always as a Friend..so now never think u r alone..he held her hands in his giving her a assuring smile..

Arohi just gave a faint smile in response..thats not first time someone had said these wrods to her but this time it was different..there was honesty and promise in Arjun's eyes..which made her believe that this time these were not mere words but he actually meant them..
