Chapter 9
Arjun was stealing glances at Arohi while driving. He found her so cute and sweet. He remembered their first meeting. She seemed so full of attitude but as he became friends with her he found out that she was very sweet but a little hesitant about strangers. She was quiet but amiable. She can talk friendly with strangers if she had to but would never let anyone so easily into her life. She is very much precautious. Arjun had watched with amusement how she joke around in the company of Shefali and Swayam but would never do that with him. But it had been changing. She was opening up. Everytime he looked into her eyes he saw some kind of pain lurking there. He wanted to hold her close and say everything will be alright. He wanted to be there for her. He was waiting for that time when she would let him in. He didn't knew what this emotion would be termed. Is this love? He didn't know. He knew he was attracted to her but that was just an infatuation. It seemed different now. He couldn't see pain in her eyes. He wanted her to laugh everytime. He would wait to know whether this was the famous love or not.
Arohi looked out to the place. It was an old age home. Arohi throw a curious glance at Arjun. He just smiled and took her to the campus. Arohi had seen old age homes before but this was different. Here the elders laughed and enjoyed everytime. No worries, no sadness. Just happiness. Arjun told Arohi that this programme was done for these people. It wasn't just for raising money for them but to entertain them. Money was not a problem for the Singhanias but to see happiness in these elders face they decided to arrange a programme on their expense. Arjun had moved to the good category of Arohi with this one act of kindness and caring for elders who actually had no relationship to him. Arjun told Arohi that he wanted her to see his two favourite women here. Arohi was puzzled. Two favourite women of Arjun?
Arohi smiled when she saw his two favourite women. Arjun called them Dj and Dadi. These two fought with each other but wouldn't let anyone come between their friendship. When their children couldn't concede to their friendship they moved to here. Arohi greeted both of them.
"Good evening dj! Good evening dadi!" Dj and dadi loved Arohi on first sight. They had seen the world and can analyse anyone with one look.
"Good evening beta! How sweet you are! Umm Arjun you didn't tell us that you found such a beautiful girl for yourself! We love your choice! You two look cute together!" Dj told Arjun.
Arohi blushed hearing this but Arjun replied back, "Dj she is not my girlfriend! How can I have a gf when I am committed to you! I am so in love with you Dj!" Arjun had a glint of mischief in his eyes. But before Dj could reply dadi cut in.
"Oye! You told me I am your gf! You are a one big liar!" Arjun laughed at his dadi and dj. Soon after this dj and dadi had started their 'who is more beautiful' arguments. Arjun just stood there watching these two fighting. It was the cutest sight ever. Arohi was watching how Arjun interacted with dj and dadi. He was not the typical flirting and i-don't-care guy. He was the most caring person she had ever met.
Soon Arohi had made a place for herself in dj's and dadi's heart. They loved this simple, sweet and down-to-earth Arohi. Arohi spent the rest of the afternoon chatting with these two and learning from them how to cook some traditional dishes. She loved the ambiance of this place. So serene and pure just like the mind of the people who lived here. Arohi hadn't seen Arjun for a while and was looking for him. She found him busy with two children. Arjun looked very much lovable with these kids. The kids were making him do sit-ups with his hands on his ears. He was surely being punished. The boy was saying,
"Arjun bhaiyya this is the last time we are letting you go! If next time you didn't come on time we will never speak to you!" The girl joined in, "Haan Arjun if you are late again I would never marry you when I grow up! I will marry this stupid Raj!" she pointed to the boy.
"Don't say that my sweety! What will I do if you don't marry me? I will be on time next time!" Arjun laughed picked up the kids and turned to find Arohi standing behind him.
"Arjun is making promises to marry your favourite hobby. You already promised three!" Arohi said with a smile.
"Haa Arohi I only proposed to 3 girls! How can I not propose them! They are the cutest in the world!"
"Arjun bhaiyya who is this girl?" Raj asked looking at Arohi.
"This is Arohi, my friend! Arohi, these two are my cutie pies Raj and Ria." Arjun introduced everyone. The kids instantly liked Arohi. Raj was already in Arohi's lap and was telling about his classes while Ria was stroking Arohi's hand and putting her small hand in Arohi's palms. Arjun was watching this sight. Arohi had a particular charm that made everyone like her. She looked like an angel with two little angels. Raj was saying,
"Arohi when I grow up I will marry you! You will marry me naa? This Ria says no one will marry me but you will! Won't you?" Arohi looked at an eager Raj. The kids were like Arjun. So eager to marry! Arohi nodded her head and Raj smiled sheepishly.
"But Raj what if Arohi got married to someone else before you grow up!" Ria brought up an issue.
"Then Arjun bhaiyya would marry her before someone else could and when I grow up I will marry her. Won't you marry her Arjun bhaiyya?" asked an innocent Raj. Arjun was dumbfounded. He never expected this.
"Yeah Arjun you marry her! Then no one will marry you and I can marry you when Raj marries her!" Ria supported her bestie Raj. Arjun was totally thrown out of the world. Arjun looked at Arohi who was obviously shocked but was slowly broking into a laugh.
"Raj if they these two got married there is no chance he would give his wife to you! He is a possessive guy!" Dj and dadi had come to the scene. Arohi blushed but regain her composure very soon. Arjun still seemed to be in shock. Dj gave him a pinch to bring him back.
Arohi totally loved this place. She was totally shocked by the kids question but couldn't control her laughter when she saw Arjun's face. He looked so funny. Arohi found out that Raj and Ria were the grandchildren of two of the inhabitants. They had no family other than their grandparents. Arjun had to go against the establishment's board to get these two rooms here. These two kids had no family of their own but now they had every relationship they could dream for. Arjun was their saviour and protector! It was time for them to leave and good byes were being exchanged. The kids were sad. They didn't want to let Arohi go. Well nobody did. Arohi promised them she will come back soon. She kissed the kids' cheeks and took the blessings of Dj and dadi. Arohi and Arjun were getting into the car when dj shouted to Arjun,
"Oye Arjun! Tell that one-screw-loose June to come visit us. It has been so long since we met her!"
"I will dj!" Arjun shouted back and drive out of there.
June was completely going crazy by looking at the file in front of her. It was a rough draft of a new writer. She can't make heads and tails of it. The guy needs some serious guidance. She closed the file and shut her eyes. For past two days she was very busy. Reading and reading. She was totally going crazy. She heard a tap on her door and automatically said "Come in!"
"Wow the bossy writer is thinking! A rare sight indeed! I heard you are throwing a success party and no invite for me! So bad!" a husky voice said.
June didn't need to look back to knew who was it. Only one person was able to irritate her like this. And he was doing this from the time they met in kindergarten.
"Robbie Sabharwal! What an unpleasant surprise! I was feeling peaceful and here you are to ruin it!" June spitted out her anger. The guy gets into her nerves.
"Don't say it honey! After all I am the hero of your film! You got to show some friendliness! Plus I am an old schoolmate! You got to give me that!" Robbie obviously loved irritating her.
June was fuming. "Yeah I should be friendly with the guy who messed with me whenever he could. Moreover you used to pick up fights with my best friend for no reason!"
"I only fought with him because he was so close to you! You know I love you! I can't see you with anyone else! You aren't dating him, are you? Well, you didn't answer my question! Are you inviting me?" Robbie said with a mischief in his eyes.
"Urgh you are so annoying! Whether I am dating anyone or not is none of your business! Even if I don't invite you would barge into the party then why waste my invitation!" June replied with sarcasm.
"Oh attitude! You had not changed a bit and don't. I like you this way!" Robbie said with a wink.
"Urgh ummm'you..." June was irritated. She stood up from her chair and took her keys out ready to go home.
"You are going! Give me a ride home! My car broke down outside your office! Give me a lift love!" Robbie said with a puppy face. June hated it. She looked at him and reluctantly agreed.
"Okay! BUT DON'T YOU DARE CALL ME LOVE!" June said stressing each word.
Robbie nodded. June headed outside. Robbie followed her muttering under his breath, "You have no idea how much I love calling you that ma love!"
