Breaking moulds: Sushant Singh Rajput.
'I love chocolates' by
Sana Amir

Breaking moulds: Sushant Singh Rajput.

QUICK FIVE Sushant Singh Rajput has a huge female fan following.

Sushant Singh Rajput is a recognisable face on television. With cute smile and tall figure, he has a huge female fan following. He made his mark as Manav on Zee TV's "Pavitra Rishta" and broke several hearts when he quit "Pavitra Rishta" due to some disagreement with the script. But he is back with a bang! He is making his film debut with the movie "Kai Po Che", an adaptation of Chetan Bhagat's book "3 Mistakes of My life".

Why did you pick "Kai Po Che"?

I liked its script. I was not thinking of the launch as such. I was doing a film making course. After doing some television shows, I started getting film offers. I rejected eight films and when then I auditioned for 'Kai Po Che'. The film is about three best friends, Ishaan, Omi and Govind. I am playing Ishaan.

Tell us about your character.

Placed in Ahmedabad, these friends have different dreams. Ishan is a professional cricketer. He is quiet myopic in his world view but good at heart. He has two friends for whom he can die for.

How difficult was it to break the Manav mould?

Initially it was tough. I was all Manav. But when I joined the workshop, I started understanding the intrigue behind the Ishaan's character. Now I think I am all Ishaan!

How do you see acting in different mediums and you have been part of reality shows like Jhalak as well?

I am trained in contemporary dance, I have done theatre for four years. Being able to be a part of such diverse mediums has strengthened my acting skills. I think as actors you don not change. Medium changes but you do not change. I think like a dancer even when I act.

Will you be able to break the chocolate boy tag and what projects are you working on?

It is not surprising because I love chocolates! I have been offered some big projects but right now I want to concentrate on "Kai Po Che". I will first finish this film and then I will sign any other project.

Actor Sushant Singh Rajput, who is now busy with Kai Po Che, an adaptation of Chetan Bhagat's novel, Three Mistakes of My Life, has given up on offers for the director, Abhishek Kapoor.

According to a source close to Sushant, "It was Sushant who was offered Aashiqui 2 before the role went to Aditya Roy Kapoor." Apart fromAashiqui 2, the Pavitra Rishta actor also let go a three film contract with Yash Raj Films which also included Aurangzeb with Arjun Kapoor.

"He was under a two film contract with UTV. And thus couldn't bag these lucrative offers," confirmed the source. Prior to offers from the Bhatt camp and Yash Raj banner, Sushant was approached for a Hollywood project. "The film was about female foeticide but he did not like the script. His priority is not about having a break and making money. But Sushant is excited by quality work," said an industry insider.

The actor gained 12 kilos to get into Ishaan's shoes for Kai Po Che. He also trained under professional cricketers for the film. In an earlier interview with TOI, Sushant had revealed his intentions of being the Asian James Bond. "I had an All India Rank of seven in the engineering entrance but I took the risk to venture into acting. Now, I can take the risk of venturing into the big screen. I have trained under Shiamak Davar and Barry John," Sushant told TOI earlier.

zaheer turns acting coach

Mumbai, July 11 -- They were India's premier fast bowlers. So if Zaheer Khan and Ashish Nehra offer to train an actor for a cricketer's role, it's bound to be authentic. And that's exactly what happened to actor Sushant Singh Rajput.

A few days ago, during the pre-release promotions of Kai Po Che! in Delhi, director Abhishek Kapoor and Sushant bumped into Zaheer and Ashish at a five-star hotel while they were having dinner.

"Sushant plays a cricketer in the film. And when Zaheer and Ashish found that out during the course of the conversation, they became very interested and started giving him tips on the game. They spent a lot of time discussing cricket because Sushant has also played the sport in his youth," says an insider close to the film.

"It was a pleasure to meet them and I'm excited that I will be using insider tips from two of the best fast bowlers in the country. They will help me get into the skin of the

character I'm playing," confirms Sushant.

What's most interesting is that both Zaheer and Ashish have told the actor that they will train him before the next schedule of Kai Po Che! kicks off in about 12 days.

The makers are also elated at the opportunity. "Sushant will train intensively for his role as a cricketer. He will work on his batting and bowling skills and it was brilliant for him that he met Ashish and Zaheer by chance, who are good friends with Abhishek. He could pick their brains on bowling tips," says Manish Hariprasad, creative director, (studios), Disney UTV.

actor Amrita Puri, the only female actor in Kai Po Che!, says that director Abhishek Kapoor is the USP of the film.

Kai Po..., the big screen adaptation of Chetan Bhagat's book The 3 Mistakes Of My Life, also features TV actors Sushant Singh Rajput, Amit Sadh and Rajkumar Yadav.

"I was a little nervous earlier but Abhishek is such a nice person. In the beginning of the film, he had a one on one chat with me, where he wanted me to get completely comfortable. That chat actually set the path for the rest of the film."

"During our chat he talked to me as a person and not as the director of the film or as a professional. He made me understand the fact that he has chosen me because I am the best person for his role. If your director believes in you, it gives an actor a lot of security. He is the star of Kai Po...," Amrita told IANS.

Not many newcomers get a chance to do something new film after film. But the 28-year-old got to play a small town girl in her debut film Aisha followed by a housewife in Blood Money, and in Kai Po... she will be seen as a vivacious girl. Amrita considers herself very lucky.

"My character in Kai Po Che is very different from that in Aisha and Blood Money. Vidya is very naughty and a fun loving person. She is very mischievous. She is not the traditional types. She is very strong and a go getter," she said. "The three characters that I have played are completely different from each other. I think I am a lucky one."

Recalling the shooting schedule Amrita says she loved being pampered by the male co-actors on the sets. "Working with three actors was a fabulous experience. I was thoroughly pampered. They have been very sweet to me and I just loved it," she said. Hindustan times article

Sushant Singh Rajput has proved himself as a dancer, a theatre artist and TV actor. Now he is ready to take on the big screen, and feels taking risks has been fruitful for him.

sushant singh rajput

Sushant Singh Rajput has proved himself as a dancer, a theatre artist and TV actor. Now he is ready to take on the big screen, and feels taking risks has been fruitful for him.

Sushant shot to fame with TV show "Pavitra Rishta", but he shocked his fans when he decided to quit it at the peak of his career.

"I am the kind of person who likes taking risks. I quit 'Pavitra Rishta' because I wanted to go abroad and study films, but that did not happen," he said.

"I always do what I want to. I got all-India rank seven in engineering, got a scholarship from the government. During the first semester, I was a part of Shiamak Davar's dance troupe, during the second semester, I joined Barry John's theatre classes and in my sixth semester, I quit."

"I wanted to go ahead and pursue my dream because I realised that I love it when performing on stage or I am on camera," Sushant told IANS.

The 26-year-old is all set to begin his journey on silver screen with "Kai Po Che".

Sushant believes he is a performer - medium irrespective.

"For me the only difference was with the paychecks that I got. I have been a performer throughout whether it was dancing with Shiamak, doing theatre with Barry or playing Manav in 'Pavitra Rishta' and now in 'Kai Po Che'.

"As an actor it is just the medium that has changed for me. Everything else remains the same," he said.

Directed by Abhishek Kapoor of "Rock On!!" fame, the film is the big screen adaptation ofChetan Bhagat's book "The 3 Mistakes of My Life".

Sushant, who plays cricket enthusiast Ishaan in the film, says the script made him decide on to "Kai Po Che" as debut film.

"After quitting 'Pavitra Rishta' and doing 'Jhalak Dikhla Jaa', I started getting film offers. Among the seven to eight offers I got, 'Kai Po Che' was one. When I read the script, I just loved it. I auditioned for it and got the role," he said.

The film portrays the journey of three friends as they discover cricket, religion and business in their respective fields. Actors Raj Kumar Yadav, Amit Sadh and Amrita Puri will play prominent roles in the film.

Sushant says he read the book after shooting a major portion of the movie. So he has sketched his character according to the script, and not the book.

"I read 'The 3 Mistakes...' after I shot for almost 60 per cent of the film. I have read 'Five Point Someone', 'Revolution 2020' and '2 States'. This is the only book that I missed on and got a film."

"I have sketched my character according to the film. I don't know if it will be difficult for audiences to relate to my character with the character in the book. But when the ones who have read the book see the movie, they will be pleasantly surprised. The book is superb, but I have to say that the film is going to be amazing," he said.

pls ppl comment on article⭐️

The Hindu Sushant Singh Rajput

Sushant Singh made difficult choices and underwent rigorous training for his film debut

Sushant Singh Rajput, famous for his characters Manav on Pavitra Rishta and Preet in Kis Desh Mein Hai Meraa Dil on television, is making his film debut with Kai Po Che. Directed by Abhishek Kapoor, the film is an adaptation of Chetan Bhagat's 3 Mistakes of My life and tells the story of three friends who face various hurdles as they try to achieve their dreams. Sushant plays the character of Ishaan, who is quite myopic but good at heart.

"Before this movie I was 85 kilograms. When I signed this movie Abhishek told me that I am playing a 24-25 year old boy and I have to be very fit. So I lost almost ten kilograms," he says.

The character of Ishaan in the movie is a big fan of cricket and dreams of opening a training academy. Sushant is trying his best to step into 'cricket mode' and enact his character well.

"Initially it was tough. But when I joined the workshop, I started understanding the intrigue of the Ishaan's character. Now I do four hours of rigorous cricket training in the morning. And two hours of functional exercise to stay fit," adds Sushant.

Sushant also has a strict diet plan. "I eat meals with no salt in it. I eat boiled food, no fried things. I even juggle with candies," he says. Additionally, Sushant made the tough decision of quitting smoking recently.

Sushant is also a trained contemporary dancer. He was a part of reality shows Zara Nachke Dikha and Jhalak Dikhla Ja where he impressed everyone with his dancing skills.

Sushant adds, "I think like a dancer even when I act. I trained in Wing Chun Kung fu for two years." credits ASHU PR FORUM
