Preet Juneja was walking on the streets with his backpack on his shoulder. His bag only contained two shirts and a pant. He was walking with the address in his mind towards his destination. It was almost dark when he reached to his desired place. He looked at the chawl and walked towards the address. He took some courage and knocked. The door opened after a few minutes. He was happy to see her and a smile came on his lips.
She was confused why he was here at this hour and at her house. She kept looking at him shockingly. Her concentration was broken when he spoke.
Preet: Hi Meher
Meher(confused): Hi Sir
Meher worked at the Juneja corporation as Preet's secretary. She was more than a secretary. She took care of all his needs and she also bridged the gap between Preet and his Bauji. She was surprised to see her boss standing at her doorstep at this hour. She also wondered how he got her address.
He knew he must have surprised her. He could tell by the look on her face. It was not hard for him to locate her chawl. Since she worked for him, her contact information was stored on a file. He had looked at that file, that address, many times. However, he never had the courage or the excuse to go to her house. But today, he had a very good reason to be at her house.
Meher: Sir, app yahan, is waqt? koi zaroori kaam tha? (she didn't know what else to ask)
Preet: haan. tumse kuch zaroori baat kerni thi. kya main andar aa sakta hun?
Meher(moved to the side): Haan. Ayay. (she closed the door behind him and walked towards him)
Preet(facing Meher): Meher main apna ghar chor ker aaya hun.
Meher(shocked): Ji?
Preet: Haan Meher. (paused) Meher,I love you
Meher(she kept looking at him. He just said I love you. Her boss just said I love you): Sir, app yeh kya keh rahay hai?
Preet: Sach keh raha hun Meher. Main tumse bauhat pyar kerta hun. Maine aj tak tum jaisi larki se nahi mila.(He started walking towards her. She saw him coming closer to her so she moved back) You are so simple and pure(He came closer and she moved back a little more). The most beautiful woman in the world.(He came closer and she moved back more but now there was now space behind her to escape. She had hit the wall and in front of her was her boss, who was confessing his love for her.Preet raised his hand and softly ran it across her cheek. Meher closed her eyes. His touch was making her lose her control)
Meher(tries to take control of the situation. She opens her eyes and moves her face away from his hand): Sir, please app aisi baatain na karay.
Preet: kyun na karun Meher? Main tumse pyar kerta hun. Tumhare liye apna sab kuch chor ker aya hun. apni family apna ghar.
She looked at him in surprise. How did all this happen? When did it happen? She never noticed this about him. She lowered her gaze.
He kept looking at her. He knew it was hard for this innocent girl to digest all this. He had left his home for her. He informed his family about his love. He wanted to take their permission before he proposed to Meher. But they were not happy. His Bauji lashed at him. He said how could a poor secretary become bahu of his house and she must have done something to trap him in her love so that he could have all his money. Preet told his Bauji to keep his wealth. He only wanted and needed Meher. So he left. He didn't take anything with him except his two shirts and a pant and walked to her house from his house.

Preet(sad): kyun Meher?
Meher:App ko apna ghar aur apni family nahi chorni chahiye. App ke paas hamesha app ki family rahi hai isliye app ko un ki kadar nahi.Jin ke paas nahi hoti unse poochay.(Meher was an orphan so she understood the value of having a family very well. She didn't want Preet to feel the emptiness she had felt all her life)
Preet(he tilted her chin up with his hand and looked into her eyes): Meher pyar ka kya? Pyar bhi to aik baar hota hai. Main apni family ke so called status aur is society ke liye apne pyar ko nahi chor sakta!
Meher: Laikin main app se pyar nahi kerti!
Preet(angry): Jhoot! Kerti ho pyar!
Meher(angry and tears started to come in her eyes): Nahi kerti pyar! maine app se kaha na!
Preet(he moved closer to her. Now, there was no space between them. He was frustrated and angry why no one was understanding his love. First Bauji and now Meher): Jhoot bol rahi ho tum! Maine tumhari aankhon main apne liye pyar dekha hai. Agar tum mujhse pyar nahi kerti to tumne mujhe itni raat ko apne ghar main kyun anay dia? jab maine tumhe chua to kyun tumne mujhe thappar nahi mara? main tumhare itne kareeb khara hun to kyun mujhe durr nahi kia?
He looked at her waited for her to annswer. She kept her gaze down. Soon, Preet saw tears rolling down her cheeks. It made him feel as if someone stabbed a knife in his heart. He hated to see her tears and today he was the reason was her tears. But he has to do this for their love. She needed to understand her feelings.
Preet(wiping her tears): Meher tum mujhse bauhat pyar kerti ho. Main jaanta hun. Agar tum mujhse pyar na kerti to itna chillanay ke baad itni badtameezi kerne ke baad tumse, tum mujh par chillati ya mujhe maarti. Magar tumne aisa nahi kia. Yeh aansoo is baat ki gawahi detay hai ke tum bhi mujhse pyar kerti ho.
Meher knew whatever he was saying was true. She had fallen in love with him but she didn't want him to give up his family for her.
Preet: Meher main apni poori zindagi tumhare saath bitana chahta hun.tumhare saath apna har pal baatna chahta hun. tumhe hanstay hue dekhna chahta hun. tumhari aankhoo main jab bhi aansoo ayay unhe apna banana chahta hun. har subah jab main uthoon to tumhara chehra dekhun sab se pehle aur jab main soo to tumhe dekh ker soo. main chahta hun hamaray bachay ho, hamara bhi aik parivaar ho. tum ek parivaar ki kami ko achi tarah mehsoor ker sakti ho.kya tum chahti ho tum mujhse durr chali aur yeh kami hamari zindagi main hamesha ke liye rahay?
Meher looked at him. She was touched by his love. She had secretly loved him and thought that she would spend the rest of her life alone loving him only. She never expected him to love her. She was wrong. He was confessing his love. He was promising her of a family that she had always wanted.

Preet moved away from her. He bent down on his knees and opened his fist. Meher looked at it and saw red powder in Preet's palm. She was confused.
Preet: Yeh sindoor mujhe Prem bhaiya ne dia tha jab main ghar se jaa raha tha. Unhonay ne kaha tha main saray rishte chor ker jaa raha hun magar is sindoor se apni zindagi ka sab se bara rishta banaun. (He paused) Mere paas abhi is sindoor ziada kuch nahi tumhe dainay ke liye laikin main vaada kerta hun tumhe har cheez dunga aur tumhari har khuwahish poori karunga. Meher, kya tum aik parivaar ki kami poori karogi meri zindagi main? Kya tum mujhe mauqa dogi tumhe aik parivaar dainay ka? Mujhse shaadi karogi Meher?
Meher looked at him in shock. Preet just proposed to her. She could see the love in his eyes. She had never felt so wanted and so loved. She wanted him to fill her maang with the sindoor. He was right. She didn't want him to feel the emptiness she had felt all her life. She wanted him to have a family and live happily.
She moved her hands towards his hand and gently closed his palm back into a fist. Preet looked at her in shock. Meher extended her hands and put it on his shoulder and moved him up. Now, she was standing facing him again.
Meher: Sir, app meri maang is sindoor se bhar sakte hain, laikin main chahti hun yeh sab app ke parivaar ki marzi se ho.
Preet(He looked at her in shock. Did she just accept his proposal? he thought. She gave him permission to marry her but with a condition. He didn't care about the condition right now, he would take care of that later he thought. For now, he was in the sky to hear what she said. He widely smiled at her and she returned the smile, confirming that she was in love with him too): Meher, hum kal chalaingay bauji se baat kerne.
Meher(smiled): Thank you Sir
Preet(smiled): ab Sir nahi, ab Preet! (Meher blushed)
Preet wrapped his arms around Meher's waist and brought her closer to him, surprising Meher. She could feel him bringing her closer to him even more. Maybe he was scared of losing me she thought. She raised her hands and rested them around his neck. She could feel his tears dropping on her neck. Those were tears of joy.
Later, Preet and Meher had dinner and talked all night. There was no sleep in their eyes. There was only love, for each other. They didn't think what would happen tomorrow. What mattered the most was that they were together now.
