How did no one put together the connections before though? Meher Maan, Heer Maan. And they're supposed to be smart? Is Maan that much of a common last name?

y'know? i thought about that, and i thought that i had a few things on the side of how i've done the story:

1. i think that last names are common, and people tend not to put too much thought into it. (you may take this as the weakest reason, i think).
2. it was not that long before prem found out.
3. i think that all the junejas themselves have been through severe trauma for the last 1.5 years or more. and personally, i think that when you have a random stranger, literally thrust herself into your lives, you don't start making links with a name that you heard once a long time ago (the rest of the juneja's knew the name maan only for the week or so from when preet had told them 'bout meher, and they were concentrating on meher).
'cause personally, i think it's kinda incredible that heer just walked into their lives. and for me, that's part of this story -- trying to capture what has fascinated me about the prem-heer-are-one story -- that they are inevitable. one way or the other, they are made to happen.
4. if there is one person who should've made the link -- 'specially 'cause meher had told him her name once, and that she was a famous artist -- was preet. but preet is also the person who is the most emotional, and has suffered the most emotional trauma.

put all these together and i thought it was feasible that you could have an element of surprise for a while.

if you will notice, i didn't make the time horizon too long. i think that might have stretched credulity -- the balaji telefilms kinda way. 😆 no? what d'you think?

she doesn't -- oh, you got that. i know what you mean. i think (have always thought) that heer has always had a huge burden on her shoulders. some of it imposed 'cause of her upbringing, and some of it 'cause of her prem-heer-are-one-ness. and i've always felt for her. i've always liked people who can stop and think -- even in the middle of emotional madness -- before they react. i wish this version of heer always remains this way, actually.
