Chapter 2
Heer looked for her seat and finally found it. Someone was already sitting at the window seat reading a magazine so she just went and sat next to him. She put her seat belt on and looked around. There were some businessmen reading the newspapers or on their laptops. There were two old ladies knitting away and gossiping. She could almost imagine herself and Meher doing that in 40 years before she remembered she'll be dead soon. Than there was a 2 year old boy playing with a little toy sitting next to what looked like his nanny. The plane finally took off and she sat there praying.
"Are you okay?" asked the man sitting next to her. He looked Indian but had a British accent.
"Umm ya. Why do you ask?"
"You are clutching my hand really hard and praying loudly." the man said matter-of-factly. Heer looked down at her hand and saw that she was holding on to the man, she moved her hand away. Embarrassed, she looked at the boy and his nanny. She saw the boy throw his toy away and it rolled under her seat and the boy started to cry. The nanny didn't seem to care. A part of her wanted to get up and get the toy but another part told her if she gets up, something would go wrong and the plane would crash and she'll die. Well her boss was killing her anyways so why not do a good deed before she dies. She slowly opened her seat belt and sat on the floor. The stranger sitting next to her put his book down and stared at her.
"Don't worry, sweetie, I'll get your toy. Don't cry." she said sweetly to the little boy.
"Don't bother, he doesn't really care about the toy." The nanny said as she handed the boy a lollipop. The little boy started to suck on it with tears still rolling down on his face.
She tried to crawl under her seat and finally managed to get the toy and handed it to the little boy who looked at it for a second and than threw it on her face. The nanny giggled while the stranger gave her a kind smile.
"Well that went well." she said as she buckled back her seat. All of a sudden, the plane started to move strangely and she heard the pilot say something about bad weather but she didn't hear anything. Her ears were blocked, she knew that was it. The plane was going to crash. That was it. She grabbed her seat.
"We are going to die, we are going to die, we are going to die" she whispered to herself.
"I am sorry? What?" The stranger said as he saw her grab his hand again and keep on repeating the same thing with her eyes tightly shut.
"You know I am too young to die! I haven't achieved anything! I don't even have a proper job, I got fired from 6 jobs in the last 3 years and now I serve coffee and write letters, for God's sake. I need to get a promotion first atleast. I need to show that Ashlesha that I am better than her! I have to show mom and dad that I am not worthless! And Sameer.....OMG I haven't even had sex yet!"
"Are you ok? You are not going to die!" The stranger kindly told her but she wasn't listening and went on...
"I had this dream......and once when I was 6, I was riding my bicycle.....that Sameer, he is only after one thing......Sanjana, when she gets out of the house, me and Meher.....Meher, she's a really sweet girl but once......mom and dad always running after Ashlesha, never giving me a second look.....that Ashlesha denied me a job after I lost my job.....g-strings are really uncomfortable....it was me that ate all of the ice cream.........." one by one, she blurted out all her secrets while the stranger looked at her, amused.
"Ma'am, we are here. You can get up and leave now." An air-hostess tapped Heer's shoulder.
"You mean, we are on ground? We are not going to die?" she asked the stranger.
"We are not going to die." The stranger looked at her and smiled.
Oh my god, and was she speaking for two hours about all her life and revealing all her secrets to this stranger thinking she's going to die?? She never ran so fast as she got up and existed the plane and in record time was at the arrival's gate.
+++++++++++++++++++++
"Heer! Heer!" She heard a familiar voice call her and looked around to see where it was coming from. She finally spotted her boyfriend jumping up and down with four welcome back balloons and a huge bouquet. Oh God, why does he have to overreact all the time? She was only gone for like 6 hours!
He ran up to her and gave her a huge hug. "Oh baby, I missed you so much!"
"I was gone for less than half a day. Can we go home now? I am exhausted."
"Oh I thought maybe we can go out for dinner." Sameer said giving her a disappointed look.
"Sam, really not today. Maybe tomorrow since it's Saturday. I am really tired. Can you just drop me home?" Sameer gave in and dropped her home. For the first time that day, she didn't think about her boss's reaction but instead how she blurted out the most embarrassing secrets to a stranger.
Sameer kissed her goodbye and left while she entered her apartment. She lived with her life long best friend, Meher and another roommate, Sanjana. As she entered the apartment she knew Meher was home as there were papers all over the floor. Meher was an upcoming lawyer and everytime she had a case, there would be no room to walk in the apartment as it would be taken over by her case papers. She spotted Meher sitting on the floor writing down notes.
"Hi Meher!!"
"Oh look whose back? And whoohoo, your plane didn't crash! I told you, you were freaking out for no reason. How was the meeting? I so know you did well and are going to get that promotion!"
"Will you slow down? And no I am not getting any promotion. He's going to kill me instead!"
She sat down next to Meher and told her everything about the meeting and the plane ride.

"What?? Heer are you serious? You hit the CEO of the other company in the balls with a stick?" Meher sit there shocked, not knowing what to say. This Heer, why is she so clumsy?
"Stop making it sound worse than it was. It was an accident. I was just showing him that we use the best wood in our company and you know, I got into the moment and went a little crazy with my demonstration and he was standing right next to me! But he said he won't call HIM and tell HIM but we didn't get the contract so he is going to murder me!" Heer said as she hid her face with her hands.
"Ok calm down, he's not going to kill you. It was not your fault that you didn't get the contract. As you said, they already had decided against it before you smashed that poor man's balls." Meher said trying to laugh.
"Meher!!!"
"Ok forget about that, what was with you spilling your secrets to the stranger in the plane?"
"Oh ya....I don't know I thought I was going to die so I spilled everything to him. He must think I am psycho!" Heer cried.
"Ok well don't worry, New York is a huge city, it's not like your going to meet him again so who knows if some stranger knows your secrets. Did he say who he was?"
"Well I really didn't give him a chance to talk."
"Well stop freaking out and go get fresh. Oh ya, your mom called. She wanted to know if your coming to her party on Sunday....Heer I am sorry, I tried to make excuses but it's better if you talk to her." Meher said apologetically.
"Not your fault....I guess I do have to go! Arrgg a perfect ending to my worst weekend ever, a date with Ashlesha the great! Because smashing some CEO's balls was not enough and telling a stranger my secrets was not embarrassing enough now I have to face Ashlesha!" Heer said as she made her way to her room.
"Don't worry, the CEO's can get replacement balls and it's not like your going to meet that stranger again." Meher yelled from the living room.
Heer giggled at the thought of the CEO. "I guess she's right, it's not like I am going to meet that stranger again. New York is a huge city."
