"Haan… arey Mr. Junja aap ki wife Pregnant hain naa… aur aap ko tou khush hona chahiye ke unke sath itna bara accident hoa phir bhi… woh aur aap ka baby ek dum theek hain…", the doctor said.

Prem was in shock hearing all this. He didn't know what to say.

"Aap ko apni wife ka khaas khayal rakhna hai… she is very weak…", the doctor said and went away leaving behind a totally dumbfounded Prem.

Prem kept standing on the same place for quite a while. He was totally lost. He couldn't understand why he felt that way. Why the thought of her being with someone else and carrying someone's baby hurt him that much.

"I think main pagal hota ja raha hoon… us larki ka itna asar hota ja raha hai mujh pe ke us ke siwa kuch aur soch hi nahin pa raha hoon main…

per aisa kyon ho raha hai… I have just met her… I hardly know her… I don't even know her name… still her presence and her pain is making such impact on me…

come on PREM… just take a deep breath and relax… she is just a stranger and its very stupid to become so emotionally attached with a stranger… aur agar woh pregnant hai tou mujhe iss se koi faraq nahi parna chahiye… I am not bothered…"

He thought all this and tried to compose himself but in vain, he just could not stop himself from thinking about her and worrying for her.

"what crap man… why I just can't focus my thoughts away from her… why I am bothered… main tou aisa nahin hoon… I don't even care for my family that much…

And I can't understand why the hell I am hurt so much… mera dil kyon bechen hai jab se main ne doctor ki batein suni hain… and… GOD!!! Plz help me… main pagal ho raha hoon… "

Then Prem decided to go and talk to her. He entered her room; she was lying with her eyes focused on the roof. She was looking very tensed and obviously in pain. Prem just forgot about everything expect for her pain and the way he can help her to reduce that.

He moved a bit closer to the bed and sat on the couch beside the bed. Heer had seen him. Prem opened his mouth to say something but he couldn't utter a word. It happened several times.

"main janti hoon aap kya pochna chahte hain…", she started the conversation.

"aap kya janti hain…", he asked unthinkingly.

"main janti hoon ke doctor se pata chal gaya hai aap ko mere barey main sab kuch…", she said in a low voice.

"haan… kya aap… I mean…", Prem didn't know what to ask.

"aap ko kuch kehne ki zarorat nahi hai… aap ne meri jitni help ki… uske liye thanx… ab main janti hoon ke mera yahan rukna theek nahin hai… aap fikar naa karien main chali jaon gi…", she said.

"aap… dekhiye meri baat sunein…", Prem tied to say something but was cut in by Heer.

"main ne tou pehle hi kaha tha ke jab aap mere barey main sachai jan jayen ge tou khud mujhe apne ghar se chale jane ko kahein ge… theek bhi hai akhir kon insaan kissi paraye(stranger) ki waja se apna naam kharab karna chahe ga… aur waise bhi main tou woh larki hoon jis per uske ghar walon ne bharosa nahin kiya… aap tou phir ek anjaan insaan hain…", she said wiping the tears from the corner of her eyes.

Prem could feel her pain in his heart. He felt like taking all the sorrows of the girl and giving her all his happiness. Her tears were killing him. He extended his hand to wipe them off but instantly pulled it back.

"dekhiye aap mujhe ghalat samjh rahi hain… main aap ko apne ghar se jaane ke liye nahin kahon ga… kyon ki… I have promised you… main aap ka khayal rakhon ga jab tak aap ko mere sahare ki zarorat hogi…", he said in a determined tone.

"yeh aap kya keh rahe hain?", she asked unbelievingly.

"main bilkul theek keh raha hoon…", Prem assured.

"lekin… lekin aap ko andaza bhi hai ke aap ke iss faisle se apki zindagi per kya asar parey ga??? Log kya kahein ge mujhe aap ke ghar rehte dekh kar… aur aap ki izzat to pal bhar mein mati mein mill jaye gi…", she tried to make him aware of the consequences of his decision.

"dekhiye logon ki parwah tou mujhe kabhi nahin rahi… aur insaan ki izzat kisi ki madad karne ya kisi ko sahara dene se kam nai hoti…", Prem said.

"per aap tou kuch nahin jante mere barey mein… aise kaise kissi anjnabi ko aap apne ghar mein kaise rakh sakte hain?", she raised another argument.

"main kuch janana bhi nahi chahta aap ke barey mein… coz I can see the honesty in your eyes… mujhe nahin lagta ke aap ghalat ho sakti hain…", he replied.

"aap mujhe ghalat nain samajhte? Yeh jan lene ke baad bhi ke meri shaddi nahi hoi aur main pregnant hoon… aur issi waja se main ne suicide karne ki bhi kohshish ki? ", she asked in astonishment.

"haan main aap ko ghalat nahi samajhta… ab aap ko araam karna chahiye… doctor said you need a lot of rest…", he said and left the room.

Heer couldn't believe that somebody was being so kind to her even after knowing that she is carrying an illegal child because till date she had been hearing curses and bad words from everybody she knew.

She kept on thinking about Prem for quite a while and then fell to sleep.

On the other hand Prem was sitting on his bed trying to comprehend his conversation with her because he was failing to understand why he asked the girl to stay in his house. He knew that it would be very difficult for him to stay with a girl in the same house; people will doubt their relationship all the time and things could get worse if somebody came to know about her pregnancy.

But still he promised to support her. And the girl was carrying an illegal child; still he wasn't doubtful about her character. Why his heart kept on saying that the girl is innocent. He soon fell asleep with so many whys in his mind.
