Chapter 14****************Last date************
Today has been a very busy day for Heer. She is working continuously without a break so that she can go out with Prem. She was so looking forward to it as Prem had told her that he was planning something special. She was curious and excited. She got an email from Prem telling her that they will be going to the Radhe-Kishan Mandir. She tried calling Prem, but his phone went to his voicemail.
"Hi..Sorry you missed me, Prem will soon get back to you."
"Hmmm, I would so keep hearing this all day."
Little did she know that her destiny was gonna make her do that.
At the expected time, Prem arrived to pick her up. She was angry with him for not answering her calls.
"Oh it seems someone is very angry."
"I'm, why the hell did you not answer my calls."
"You called. I'm so sorry, I did not check my missed calls, I just check my voicemails."
"And I hate to talk to the automated machine."
"Ok dear, next time it won't happen. Ab to gussa chod do."
"Ok, maaf kiya. Btw aaj mandir main kyun."
"Kyunki, main chahta hoon ki hum aaj waha mile jahan maine tumhe pehli baar dekha tha aur vaise bhi tumhare siva waha koi aata bhi to nahi."
"hmmm."
When they reach there, Heer sees that the Mandir has been decorated with colored flowers and the path to the mandir is full of white flowers. It was so beautiful just like walking down for her wedding. She looked at Prem with tears in her eyes.
"Heer please don't cry. I thought this will make you happy."
"Prem, I'm so happy that I couldn't control my tears. Why this Prem."
"Heer, that day when I had visited you at the wedding, I could see you wanted something like that. And I remember that once you had said that you would like to make the promise of love just with the one you love. So Heer, its for you, we are gonna take the Promise of our Love in this sacred place. Come along with me heer."
They walk down the path of flowers inside the mandir. Together they light the diya. Their hands are clasped in each others and they hold it over the diya.
Prem---- "Hum aur tum, tum aur hum kabhi juda nahi honge."
Heer ---- "Main tum hoon, aur tum main hoon. U are Me and I'm U. Hum ek doosre main samaye hue hain."
Prem ---- "Mere dil ki har dhadkan sirf Heer ke liye hogi. Sirf Heer."
Heer ---- "Meri saasoon chalengi to sirf Prem ke liye. Sirf Prem."
Prem & Heer ---- "Hum ek doosre ke liye bane hain. Ek doosre ke saath hi jeeyenge.
Humne na zindagi dur kar sakti hain na maut….."
This is the Promise of Our Love..Prem and Heer..are One."
"Heer now can you close your eyes for a minute."
"Premmm..par ..kyun."
"Please heer, do as I say."
As heer closed her eyes, Prem got on one knee, "Heer u can open them now."
Heer opened her eyes to see Prem on his knee. He took her hand in his, pressed a lingering warm kiss of promise on her palm. Her heart turned over and before she could make am attempt to say anything, he said,
"Heer, meri zindagi main tum kya ho, shayad tum samajh na pao. Ek din, isi jagah maine pehli baar tumhe dekha tha. Aisa laga ki mere khwaab haqeqat ban rahe hain. Pata nahin itne thode se waqt main tumne mujhpar kya asar kar diya. Lekin, main bas itna jaanta hoon ki tum meri jaan ho. Jhuk jaye gardish bhi dharti kea age, par mera pyaar, nahi jhukega kisi ke bhi age sivay tumhare..Mujhe akele chodkar kabhi nahi jaan Heer..main jee nahi paunga…." "On this day and on this time, I ask you dear "I don't want to spend my life without you. I love you, Heer Maan. Will you be my Wife?"
Heer is so overwhelmed by Prem's words. And the shock of Prem proposing her..all this brings tears of joy to her eyes.
"Prem..I don't know what to say. I'm not good with words like you are. The words I say now may not be flowing poetry, but they are from my heart.
Prem mere har rom rom main tum base ho. I love you so so much can't think of my life without you. And Yes I want to marry you."
His smile was dazzling ----full of joy and intense pleasure. Still holding her hand, he reached into the pocket of his pants and drew out a small box. Heer stared in pure amazement as he flicked it to reveal a ring and slid it into her finger.
"Heer the ring I got is not very fancy but I liked the meaning hidden in it…."
Heer quietens him by putting her finger on his lips.
"For me this ring is the symbol of our love and it is priceless. And yeah the meaning….two bands intertwined becoming one around the diamond….it depicts our souls becoming one…Thank you Prem."
Prem rose from his sitting position and wrapped Heer in a tender embrace. And they kissed. And the feelings between them went to the depth of their soul uniting them. There…..in the place of the Promise of Love.
"Now time to make it official, heer.."
They walk out of the mandir, hand in hand, when Prem gets a call.
"Sorry heer, I guess our family has to wait. I need to attend some emergency at the hotel. Why don't we do one thing. Its anyways late now. I have a busy day tomm. I will pick you up from your office and then we go to our respective families and tell them.
*************Next Day***************
Everyone is at the table having breakfast at the Juneja house. One after the other leaves the table to do the routine work. Gayatri and Prem are the only ones sitting. Gayatri realizes that Prem is in extra good mood today.
"Prem. Kya baat hain. Aaj tum kuch jyada hi khush ho."
"Hmmm. Kuch khaas nahi maa. Aise hi."
"Ek baat puchu beta, kyat um kisise pyaar karne lage ho?"
He chokes on the food he is eating."ah,,ah..maa aisa sawaal aaj kyun?"
"Nahi woh kya hain na, mujhe ek ladki pasand aayi hain. Sochti hoon tumhara rishta usse karva du.."
"Maa,, no no please…"
"Oh, to tumhe abhi shaadi nahi karni.. Theek hain, ab kya kar sakte hain..vaise mujhe Heer bahut pasand aayi thi aur laga tha ki tum bhi shayad use pasand karte ho. Par jaane do shayad tumhe koi aur pasand hain." Gayatri starts to get up.
Stopping her Prem says," Maa, no aap jara rukiye. Aap kya keh rahe the. Aapko Heer pasand hain."
"Haan, lekin abhi sochti hoon to lagta hain. Heer tumhe kaise pasand aayegi, tumhe to koi US wali ladki pasand hogi."
"Noooo No Maa…."
Teasing Prem, Gayatri says,"Heer chalegi."
"Oh Maaa, main kaise batau aapko. Main, yane hum dono ek doosre se bahut pyaar karte hain. Aaj hi aap sabko batane hi wale the."
"Hmmmm. Tum kya samajte ho, main tumhare man ki baat mujhe nahi pata chalegi. Prem, jab maine heer ko pehli baar dekha, tabhi laga ki woh tumhare liye hi bani hain. Tumhari ankhon main pyaar jhalakta hain jab bhi tum uski taraf dekhte ho. Aaj to main sirf apne doubt ko yakeen main badalna chahti hoon."
"Oh, I love u, maa. Aap hamesha mere dil ki baat ko samajh leti hoo. Lekin abhi ghar main kisiko mat batana. Hum dono shyam ko sab ko batayenge specially bauji ko."
"Apni di se bhi chupaya.." Kuldi comes in.
"Sorry di, Lekin pehle main to apni baat usse kehta."
"No probs..Heer tumhare liye sacchi achi hain."
"lekin please koi bauji se kuch mat kehna. And now I'm off. Already late for my meeting"
"Heer, ko hamara pyaar dena." Kuldi blinks at prem making him to blush…
******************At Maan House****************
"Oh di….yeh kab hua, kaise hua." Ashlesha starte firing questions at heer.
"Ash, please, baki to tumhe pata hain. Bas aaj Prem proposed me. And gave me this ring."
"Oh Prem jiju..Now I can officially call him that."
"Not till we tell our parents."
"Oh ok…but till that in private I can call him..and such a lovely ring di."
"Heer beta, tumhare liye gaytriji ka phone tha. Unhone tujhe thodi der ke liye ghar bulaya hain."
"Abhi. Ok. Main office jate jate hokar aati hoon."
**************************************************
Heer reaches Juneja house to meet Gayatri.
"Auntyji aapne bulaya."
"Haan, beta. Come sit with me."
"Kya baat hain auntyji."
Aaj Prem se meri baat hui. Usne mujhe tum dono ke bare main bataya. Actually maine hi ugal liye."
Heer feels uncomfortable, lowers her eyes and starts playing with her dupataa.
"Heer, jab Prem ne mujhe yeh bataya, tab meri khushi ka thikana nahi raha. Heer tum mujhe bahut pasand ho. Aur jab maine tumhe dekha tabhi mann main yeh khwiash hui thi tumhe bahu banane ki aur mera beta who pura karne wala hain."
Heer gets up and touches gayatri's feet, "Thank you auntyji."
Gayatri says, "Auntyji nahi chalega, ab se main tumhari bhi Maa hoon."
Heer is overwhelmed and her eyes fill with tears to see so much love from her would be mother-in-law. Seeing tears in Heer's eyes, Gayatri embrace her, "yeh kya heer, kabhi rona nahi, sirf khush rehna, kyunki aaj maine apni Prem ki ankhon main dekha hain ki woh tumhe kitna pyaar karta hain." Heer remains cuddled to Gayatri for a while.
"Ok auntyji.sorry Maa. Ab main chalti hoon. Office ke liye late ho rahi hoon. Shyam ko milti hoon."
"Ok Beta."
****At Prem's office*******
Prem comes out of the conference room and heads towards his office. He is counting hours and feels like the time is passing very slowly.
He is scanning his IPhone for his mails, when one of the mails brings a varied ecpressions on his face. His eyes seem to be lost. He gets tensed.
"Aise kaise ho gaya. Mere se aisa kasie ho gaya. Main heer ko yeh baat batana kaise bhul gaya. I have to meet her now. I won't be able to work till I get it out of my system."
He dials heer's no. "Heer can you meet at the coffee shop near your office in another 20 minutes. Yeah u can wait outside."
"Prem, lekin baat kya hain."
"Main, aake tumhe batata hoon."
Heer is waiting for him outside the coffee shop. She is thinking
"What is so urgent that Prem called me at this time. Whats wrong. I could hear a sense of insecurity and tension in his voice. Oh Prem, I'm so nervous….what will be it about. Is his family against our relationship. No Maa was fine with it in the morning. Oh hell, I don't want to think about so many things. Let Prem come and then we will talk."
Heer sees Prem's car coming from a distance. And then she sees a small boy of 4-5 years crossing the road without seeing the car coming in his direction. There was no one around. She could hear Prem's blaring horn but the kid seem not to hear it. Heer started running. And then she saw, to save the kid from getting run over, Prem changed his course and it seemed that his car was out of control and it went and directly slammed into a tree. It made a deafening scream coming out of Heer's mouth…"Premmmmmmmmm…."
She reached his car. She could see Prem had hit his head and blood was oozing from a notch above his forehead. She tried to wake him up.."Prem please open your eyes…Prem..look at me."
People started gathering.
"Please help me get him out and to a hospital..Please…" Pleaded heer with tears streaming down her cheeks.
2-3 guys got him down and stopped a cab and heer got into the car and they placed him inside with his head on her lap.
"Prem…please aankhen kholo. Main heer..tumhari heer.."
She caught a flickering of his eyes. And he stared straight into her eyes.
"Heer…main ..tumhe batane aa raha tha..woh Sanjana….pyaar…main..I'm Sorry Heer…."
"Prem tum kya keh rahe ho…Please don't say anything….Please be with me…"
He looked at her once and closed his eyes…...
"Premm….." He did not respond…She checked his heartbeats….she could her a soft murmur..
"Prem…U have to live.. U have Promised Me…………"************************************************************************
