Why are Indian TV soaps so negative?

Each serial for the most part starts as positive and happy. As the time progresses most characters turn negative, relationships become victims of misunderstandings, and love bonds shatter. I know that even in reality we go through both positive and negative phases of our lives, but I feel that our soaps take those realities to somewhat extreme. What do you guys think? Are the India soaps an accurate portrayal of real life?

Serials are no way close to real life!! That is why we enjoy watching them, as we escape into a different world other than ours which makes us happy! And negativity in the show at the moment is in fact wrecking the show, but not making it unrealistic, because saas-bahu fights, little bickerings are part of everyday life, so dunno what to say really!! It is realistic and unrealistic simultaneously! xx

not quite ...dill mill gayye doesnt evn have villains to creat misundrstandngs they show a happy life w/ occasional natural misundrstandings and ive nevr seen miley jab hum tum but it seems more real and happy

its jst ekta soaps and in general the family soaps

Its true and all of them are fictional
They should try and make a few on real life
There was a Pakistani show on ARY (Barnes road ki Nelofar) it was based on real life and was hilarious
I would really recommend it

Ditto that!! I dont know abt all of u but me and a lot of other people watch serials to escape into a fantasy world thats different from our world and thats also entertaining to watch!!! Serials have negativity which seems like a lot cuz were seeing all that negativity usually with one family, but theres negativity in everyones lives!! Ya i agree the fact that serials tend exaggerate the negative things at time..but hey..it does make the serial entertaining...sometimes...

And its true that we mostly see all of these things in family soaps cuz family life is very confusing!! And DMG and MJHT are youth shows not family soaps....but sometimes i do enjoy the non negativity in both those shows...

not all the soaps r negative...there r many shows which r very close to reality & real life

I wont say every indian show coz its mainly ekta shows which are filled with negativity other shows like bidaai dmg n mjht are quite happy serials without any villains

but its also true tht real life had negative things too but then wats point of having tv when it can entertain u & make u happy making u forget the sad things in life?

real life and serials have nothing to do with each other! the tracks take to such extremes that its ridiculous..! its only a pleasure to wach nothing more
