Fate, truly had its own way of crossing people's paths. Fate brought together the most irresistable forces of fate together. Prem smiled to himself at the notion of that bizzare thought. Fate had pulled one of those on him, changing the course of his life so absurdly.As he stood in the banquet hall, his eyes landed on that chandelier. It was the same crystal chandelier with its brightness lightening up the room...but today there was a darkness it, or maybe it was just him who still had not pulled himself out from the past. A sudden flash appeared in front of his eyes, that face...he knew it was not real... Prem observed the chandelier, it had the same rays of light but this time there was a dimness in it and the light was not able to reach him. His mind went back to six years in a flash of a second, but that was not anything new. He often dwelled on the memories from the past. He thought it was quite ironic how humans had the power to control the future, yet not the past. How he wished, he could go back to the past and retrace his steps to avoid that moment, so he could escape the lifetime of pain. The moment when his path crossed hers under that chandelier... When two paths crossed weren't they supposed to head up one trail? Then why did his life head up a different trial...
6 Years Ago.
Prem stood in the banquet hall and looked at the cream colored decorations, the flowers,the lighting, the fountain and many more things. Everything was done beautifully with great care and elegance. What was the Jhunejha man doing at a wedding? He was here for his best friend's wedding. He shook his head in disbelief, still finding it hard to believe that his confirmed bachelor friend was commiting. All of Prem's friends were getting engaged or married. Prem was okay being single, because being single meant being happy. So, he told himself but he was actually about ready to settle down himself. So what seemed to be the problem for Prem Jhuneja? Ah, yes, the perfect girl. Unlike all his friends he had not had temporary flings with different girls, well not even with one. He was too busy with work, the only time he ran into women was during business.The man absolutely had none experience whatsoever with girls.He rememberd what his friend had said " You don't find love, love finds you. Fate has its own way.." Complete cliche, he thought. Was it true? He had seen two contradictory sides of that emotion. Along with that happiness that he saw in his friends, on others he had seen the uglier side of that emotion. Which one was more accurate? For an objective businessman, he sure was a thinker and philosopher. He often escaped out of the real world and had a tendency to dwell on thoughts and debate in his mind. bad habit, he thought. He snapped out of his thoughts, his eyes rested on the crystal chandelier on the ceiling...
Heer looked one more time around the banquet hall to make sure everything was perfect. She wanted to fufill the image her friend had for the perfect wedding.Not just her friend, but what every girl dreamed of. She had no such dream, atleast not for now. She was at that point in life, where she was searching for a place in the world. She was struggling with life, at the moment. Her only fun was planning weddings for friends, she was not a wedding planner. Heer was a hairstylist at a salon, she was holding that job to put herself through medical school, and also to survive. Heer was on her own, she always had been. She never relied on anyone but herself. The grants, the student loans and scholarships were putting her through medical school while being a hairstylist took care of her usual life.
Heer looked at the hall, everything was fine. Although it was only a rehearsal dinner, everything was looked perfect.She only hoped that the wedding day would be the same. As she looked around at the adorned room, her eyes fell on the chandlier. Her friends called it the lucky chandelier.Heer had bought that chandelier when she had planned the first wedding, soon after that it was spotted at every wedding Heer planned. In Heer's circle of friends, she had planned her first friend's wedding. She bought the chandelier and used it. After that she used the chandelier in all her friends' weddings. Once it was used, it was consecutively used. All her friends called Heer and the chandelier their lucky charms. This was the last of Heer's friends who was getting married. She was the only single one left, she had no problem with that. Heer did not have a plan for any sort of commitment at the moment. Heer tried to avoid getting involved in such relationships. Along with having no time, she simply chose not to because the past had taught her a lot.
Prem was now standing under the chandelier, Heer's back facing his front while she spoke to someone. A unfamilair voice rang in ears, there was a sweetness about it, so melodious, words flowing like a song. Then he heard the confident firmness in the voice which said " How are the desserts not here!!! You have got to be kidding me! These people have some nerve to send them to the wrong place..." By now he sensed the temper in the voice, Prem stood by himself, silently grasping the conversation. Suddenly, an idea clicked in his mind and his steps scooted closer toward the girl whose back was towards him, he gently laid tow fingers on her shoulder, as if to almost tap her, but he felt this unusal heat through her clothes reaching towards him. He knew that had to be impossible, he was definitely imagining things.
She turned around, he almost forgot what he said.The face first felt oddly familiar but definitely it also felt like a remarkable face that he had never seen. For a minute, he became compeltely speechless and lost track of his thoughts. The voice said "Umm..Yes?" Prem shook away his thoughts and said " I'm Prem Jhunejha, friend of the groom. I just overheard your situation. I have a suggestion, would you like to know?" Heer knew him very well, almost too well. The last person she wanted to get help from was him. This was her friend's rehearsal dinner, for just a rehearsal dinner it had quite a crowd. She was completely out of thought because from what she had though of, no bakers would be able to deliver so many desserts in such a short span of time. Heer could not let her ego get in the way of her friend's perfect image of a wedding. She casually said " What is it that you would like to suggest Mr. Jhunejha."
" I know this cafe which makes these great desserts...."

Prem had come through like a magic man, taking care of the desserts. She was quite impressed, the rehearsal dinner had gone well. Heer stood under the chandelier where Prem rejoined her. They had only had a small conversation about the desserts, she had not said much besied agreeing with his idea and a thank you at the end.
" So, everything went well?" he said in his smooth voice while his breath brushed her cheek, arousing a deep buried instinct within her. He stood close to her, she only hoped he could not hear her heart going off like a hammerjack. She thought the organ would beat right out of her chest.
" Perfectly Mr. Jhuneja. I thank you for coming through with the desserts" She was facing him now.She observed him and understood why the women during the dinner were whispering while a lot of them descirbed him as tall, dark and handsome. She decided to keep what she thought about him closed up, she was afraid someone might hear her thoughts.
" So Uh... I don't know your name"
"What's in a name Mr. Jhunjeha?"
Prem gave a small laugh and continued " A lot, Shall I take a guess? My guesses might take years...Alright lets start here with Susie---"
"It's Heer. Heer Mann" Oh, how she would love to play this game. NOT. Heer's saracasm always came off as an attitude to strangers. She was surprised he took it quite well. Heer heard someone call her name, she excused herself and fled.
Prem was now standing talking to his friend's fiance, his gaze rested on Heer. He did not know why, but he just could not take his eyes off her. Sure, she was quite a beauty but he had seen better. There was something, that he could not get. He questioned his friend's fiance " Is that your best friend over there?"
"Who Heer? Yes, she's a sweetheart isn't she? She's not a proffesional wedding planner, but she did quite a job with this wedding, didn't she?"
Prem had to agree with that. The banquet hall looked absoluetly fantastic, everything stood out to him. " What does she do?"
"She is a hairstylist at the Tresseme Salon, you know what I'll be right back Prem..." Prem stood there and he ran his fingers through his hair. His hair defintely was long, he surely needed a trim. He decided it was time he got a haircut and he needed to look nice for the wedding.
What was up with him? He felt like he became a totally different man in moments. He told himself it was just a haricut. That does not mean anything.

Prem stood outside the salon which read TRESEMME- Done by Proffesionals. Tresemme was one of the top reputed salons of the town. Prem had canceled his meeting with the bank today for a haircut.Jeez, he was loosing compelte control. Just a haircut, he told himself. He pushed open the glass doord, hoping to see the face that had plagues his dreams the night before. He had spent the entire night tossing and turning in bed. He needed to get a grip. He could not spot her anywhere. Instead, he went up to the counter and the woman up at the front desk said " How can I help you"
"I...uh..need a haircut"
" Is there a specific stylist that you would like?"
Prem knew that he should say no but instead " Yes, Heer Mann"
"She actually has her hands quite full today, she usually does, there are other stylists avaliable, unless you're willing to wait" the blondle woman said informingly.
Prem's mind screamed JUST GET ANY STYLIST OR GO TO A DIFFERENT SALON. Instead he replied " I'll wait"
" It'll be a while, you can have seat over there" She pointed to a row of chairs, most of them full. He took a guess that most of these people were waiting for Heer.

After waiting for hours, his turn finally came. Heer appeared in front of him and he instantly stood up. She was not looking at him, she was peaking to someone else. She looked beautiful but tired. After the long hot summer day of one appointment after another, Heer was extremely worn out. After perrm, highlights, full dyes and haircuts, she only had one person to go. Then soon she would have to rush to the wedding. Heer's hair was gathered in a loose ponytail on the side. She wore a blue t-shirt and white capris, unlike all the hairstylists who wore trendy and proffesional clothes. She decided on something that would keep ehr cool through out the day. In her hand she held a bottle of iced tea.
Heer looked at Linda, the blonde front desk woman who said " Heer, this young man has been waiting patiently for you since this morning"
As Heer put the tea on the desk and while she dug in her pocket she said " Thank you for waiting so patiently. I know you've been-----"
As she turned around, she was surprised, not even, more like shocked. When she saw the Business Tycoon Prem Jhunejha waiiting for her for hours to get a haircut.
