So I realised that I hadn't updated in a long time, so here I am!! So, so, so sorry!! *hold ears* Here is the next part, hope you like it! It's not a very long part, but I hope it is enjoyed nonetheless!
Prem and Heer stood for a few moments in silence before awkwardly making their way to sit down on his desk. Prem pulled out the seat for her and she sat down, giving him a small smile for his sweet gesture. She began taking out her pens and pencils and placed them in front of her. She watched as he laid out his stationary neatly and suppressed a giggle. 'I didn't bring any books with me as I thought you would have most of them' she said and he nodded. 'Yes, I have them' he said simply and leaned forward to grab a book from the adjacent shelf.
'Why don't we start with mathematics? Since you hate statistics,' he teased. In response she pulled a ha-ha-very-funny look. 'Yes, why don't we?' she said sarcastically. He put the book in between them on the desk and opened it. Starting with the basics he passed her a sheet of paper and told her to write anything that she knew about statistics. She took in a deep breath, and shakily held her pen to the paper, 'humiliation time' she thought to herself, feeling then heat in her cheeks rise.
Bracing herself, she wrote whatever she could bring to mind, jotting down a few notes on mode, median and mean, alongside basic ideas of correlation and graphs. She slid the sheet across the table to Prem and closed her eyes, prepared for the worst. He looked at the sheet and then at Heer. He smiled and leaned over, 'You don't need to worry- I won't bite!' he laughed, 'This is actually a lot better than I expected, you do know the basics, so it won't be too difficult to teach you more' he assured, hoping to give her the confidence boost that she needed.
'Thanks' she said meekly, looking down as a small smile tugged at the corner of her lips. They spent the next hour expanding on what she already knew about statistics and laughing about everyday things. She was surprised that she had not noticed him in class before, he was such a personality. His character just shone through, she hadn't met anyone like him, not only was he smart and sensible, but he was kind, funny and humble too. Slowly all the awkwardness melted away, and the barriers that they had created were breaking away.
It surprised him to see her without the facade that he was used to seeing. At this very moment he was seeing the real Heer Mann- The girl who was admitting her flaws, the one who would modestly seek for help. Everything was natural, neither felt the need to pretend to be someone else or hide who they really were. Strangely he was enjoying her company. 'Ur we should take a break now' he said and Heer simply nodded. 'When studying, it is important to take a short break after every hour or so. It's not good to over-stress the brain. That way it gives the brain to register everything you have studied' he advised and she smiled, wondering if he ever took the advice that he was giving himself.
'I want a tour of your room' she announced, beaming and getting up from her seat before he could get a word in edgeways. Heer walked around the room gazing at his collection of books, his music collection, his posters, and the pictures of him and his mother. Prem smiled and watched her. Suddenly Heer's eyes fell on a picture that rested on his bedside table, she walked over to look at it and smiled at the image of a middle aged man kneeling down, with his arms around a ten year old boy. She immediately recognised the boy to be Prem, with his shaggy black hair and the square rimmed glasses. She looked at the picture of the man and turned to Prem, 'Is this your father?' she asked softly, pointing at the picture.
Prem froze, unable to get any words out.
Oooh, cliffhanger! How is Prem going to react! Will try to update as soon as possible! Can't wait to read your comments!
