Highlights - October 16

• Heer arrives at a restaurant where the manager tells her that Prem booked a table for her. On her table she finds a note from Prem, which says that he has arranged for her to go up on the platform and sing in front of everyone. A flashback ensues, where Heer tells Prem that she's afraid of performing on stage in public. Prem smirks and tells her that he'll make sure that she overcomes this fear of hers on her birthday. End of flashback. Heer is then called to sing. She goes up nervously, and upon seeing an imaginary Prem sitting among the audience, starts to sing happily but in a very poor manner. People start throwing things at her. Preet shows up and drags her out.

• Preet and Heer arrive home. Meher takes Heer away. Lalit goes ballistic and starts blaming Preet for Prem's death. Upon hearing the chaos, all the family members rush down to the hall. Lalit starts beating Preet up. He kicks, slaps and punches him while accusing him of Gayatri and Heer's plight. Then, he picks up a cane and hits Preet with it mercilessly. Finally, Kulraaj and Kiran are able to hold him back. He tells Preet that he doesn't deserve to be alive - "I would have been so glad if you had died instead of Prem!" Lalit leaves.

• Kulraaj, Veera, Ash and Harman rush to Preet, who's lying on the floor. Preet says that Lalit was right; he should have died instead of Prem. Kulraaj and Harman console him and tell him not to blame himself for what happened. The male version of "Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham" plays while Lalit, Gayatri, Heer, Preet, Harman and Kulraaj are shown mourning in their respective rooms. End of episode.
