I was itching to get back to work'

Actor Gautami Kapoor (left), who has recently made a comeback on the small screen with the show Khelti Hai Zindagi Aankh Micholi after a hiatus of almost six years, is happy to be back. The actor, who was busy raising her two kids says that she missed working. "It feels wonderful to be back at work. I missed working and I'm so happy that I am back doing what I enjoy the most." She adds, "I've been itching to get back to work since last two years. There were offers that came my way but nothing shaped up."

Mom to daughter Sia, 7, and son Aks, 4, Gautami says that she was apprehensive of leaving her kids behind more than facing the camera. "I wasn't nervous facing the camera but was worried for my two children and their safety. I had butterflies in my stomach to leave then alone," she says. Gautami, who has been part of shows such as Ghar Ek Mandir, Kehta Hai Dil, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi among others says that her actor husband Ram Kapoor has been instrumental in all her decisions. "Ram has been very supportive and always wanted me to get back to work. Whenever I got offers I discussed them with him and he rejected most of the time. After that I would get annoyed and crib saying, how long will I not work.' To which, he would ask me to relax and wait." Ask her about the changes she has seen in the telly arena in the recent past and she says, "These days the shelf life of TV serials and actors have become limited. Many shows don't even get enough chance to gain TRP and are taken off the air."
