A long time back a woman on this forum told me something that both disconcerted me and amused me. She said that in the world of Indian television, you can play a negative role, but if you are a man, and a good looking one, you will be liked, admired and loved. Heck, in fact, you'll develop a "fan" base. If you are the female protagonist, you've obviously arrived. However, god forbid, if you are the negative lead and are a woman, then you only draw apathy. This is of course partly the work of the creatives too, as in how wicked they make a character, but as a woman dominated audience what does that say about us? Not much - and we wonder why it's a man's world.
Connecting this back to Kayamath, I think Sanjeeda acted really well, and she deserves an applause, just as Panchi gets applauded when she emotes well. I didn't see that though, unless a specific someone starts a topic...whereas if Shabbir, Panchi or EVEN Jay acts well, a furore goes up in the discussion threads....Sanjeeda needs her due.
As a woman, and also a liberal feminist, I applaud Sanjeeda. Kudos to her.
