In case anyone missed it: I edited chapter 2 to delete the line that said Neev is the only son-in-law of the Shahs.

Chapter 4 –"Unfinished business"
Deidcated to my love for Kavyanjali
*Copied*:the life hx of Kavya is copied from the Balaji soap Kavyanjali. It is not my invention.

Introducing: Kavya Nanda played by Ejaz Khan (this character is not to be confused with the guy who cheated Prachi)

Kavya had just received a phone call from his friend Milind asking to meet him at their hotel. They were more business partners than friends actually but Milind was such cool company that their business relationship had become quite informal.

Kavya had done his MBA in the U.S. on the insistence of the love of his life, Anjum. He had finished his degree and returned to India with the dreams of carrying on his family business and building a beautiful life with Anjum. But as soon as he landed he had met with the sad new that the love of his life had died in a car accident and had informed everyone before she breathed her last, that she did not want him to be notified. She knew he would be devastated at the news and would leave his studies and come to India only to face a bleak future. So 6 months after Anjum's death he had got the news and was broken completely. The only thing that gave him the strength to survive the ordeal was the affection and expectations of his family towards him. But soon even that had turned out to be a nightmare. The step-mother he had so trusted had turned her back to him and cruelly revealed to him just how much she hated him. His spirit was broken a second time and he had left all the business for his younger siblings and left the house he once considered home. It was at this time that he had been contacted by Milind.

Someone Kavya knew from Columbia, where he had done his MBA, was working with Milind and had recommended his name to Milind. Milind had done his research before contacting him and made an offer that Kavya just couldn't refuse. That was Milind's style of working. He always did extensive research on both his business rivals and associates. And when he went to make a deal, he made sure that there was no excuse to refuse him. Kavya had watched Milind do this to many times and had been in awe of the guy. Many of Milind's employees considered him to be ruthless but Kavya saw it simply as his genius. Taking Milind's offer was one of the best decisions Kavya had made in his life. He had been able to make a fresh start in Turkey. And now he had become quite successful himself without the name of the Nanda's attached to him. He had settled in very comfortably in Turkey but there still was a loneliness in his life and subconsciously he longed for a family, for someone to love.

Currently he was headed to meet Milind who had informed him last month of his decision to return to India permanently and hand over legal responsibilities of their business in Turkey to Kavya. Kavya had been a little shocked at this sudden development. He had even asked Milind why he was making such a move. But Milind had given him a strange expression, one that he had never seen before on his face, and said simply that it was time to return as there was some unfinished business he has to take care of. Kavya sensed that this "unfinished business" was somewhat personal and had not probed further. There was a few more formalities to finish before Milind could be freed from his responsibilities towards the empire they had built together. Ofcourse it wasn't a termination of partnership but Milind had decided that they would open up branches of their hotel in India and he would take care of business there while Kavya handled the business in Turkey. Kavya had agreed as he himself had no intention of returning to India, at least not anytime soon. Because the wounds that country had bestowed on him were still pricking at his heart.

Chapter 5 – Time to face the truth
Dedicated to my mommy dearest.

Everyone had finshed their dinner quietly today. Except ofcourse for the naughty 4 yrs old who never followed any rules that she set up for him. And it was not his fault either. Prachi had pampered him to no extent. He wouldn't listen to anyone other than Prachi. The little devil had become quiet a handful. But PL's joy in running after him knew no bounds. She couldn't deny that caring for a grandchild was much more fun than raising her own children. It was the only thing that gave her more joy than watching all her children sitting together on one table having dinner.

It was a tradition her late husband had set up but she intended to follow it. It wasn't just in his memory but she had felt that it was the only way to keep her family together in the wake of Inder. Inder's relationship with Amrita was not a secret to her. She had found out the truth within a few days of their marriage, that Inder was in love with another woman and could never quite love her the same. Though the knowledge had shattered her, she quickly recovered. She hadn't married Inder with too much expectations. She knew that her cousin had married her off to Inder with what then was a hefty dowry for Inder because he wanted to keep the rest of her property all to himself. PL had not resisted this alliance because she was a woman who believed strongly in fate. Besides she had not wanted any property. She was someone who could live happily with very little to call assets. Her asset was simply the love she shared with everyone. And that had continued till today. Inder had been intrigued by her patience and the care she showed towards him, knowing that he could never love her like he loved Amrita. Inder lived his whole life in guilt, of not being able to do justice to either of the women in his life. But at least PL enjoyed the status of being Inder's wife. Inder had taken care of all his responsibilities towards her. He had given her beautiful children. And as long as he lived he had not let his past cast a shadow on his present.

PL knew that he had a child from Amrita. And she also knew that Inder was sponsoring that child's education under a fake scholarship fund. He also was providing basic necessities for Amrita and Ayesha without their knowledge. When Inder died he needed to make sure that Ayesha and Amrita would be taken care of well just like PL and her children. This was his only dying wish and PL had sworn to fulfill it. But she didn't know that Amrita was mentally unstable. If she had known, she would have insisted that Ayesha be brought up as Inder Shah's daughter. PL would have gladly taken over Ayesha's upbringing. It had horrified her to think what life must have been like for Ayesha while she was growing up. She had invited Ayesha and her mother to live with them and she had cared for both of them like they were family. Ayesha was Inder's child and therefore no different than her own children.

It had been 5 years since Inder had left them. And Ayesha had been able to accommodate herself into PL's family. She had warmed up to her slowly and PL was very happy that Ayesha shared some of her concerns with her now. It was one such concern that Ayesha had shared with her after dinner. Ayesha had been restless and not been able to sleep and had come to her and told her the news that she didn't want to hear. Milind was coming back for good. PL had known that this day would come and had prepared herself for it. But no amount of preparation could make her ready to tell her daughter this news. Prachi would not understand but it was time for her to face the truth. PL knew she was about to break her daughter's dreams. But someone had to do it and as a mother, she was probably the only one who could comfort Prachi at this time. She had been cleaning up the kitchen and after taking a determined breath she told Ramu Kaka to close up the kitchen and she took a glass of warm milk and made her way up to Prachi's room.

Up Next: Prachi will be finding out about Milind's return. Any guesses on her reaction?? This part is a bit slow paced so i'll be posting the updates sooner.😃

Waaaaaaah. I'm getting too curious.

Enjoyed the part of Kavvya. Poor sweet guy.

Keep them coming JC.

Oh just to humour you 😆, my guess is that Prachi will calmly tell PL that she already knows, or she scream like mad then will pack her bag and take the boy (who is not her child) away from Shah mansion 😆.

Chapter 6 – Fear
Dedicated to Omanathinkal Pakshi (don't ask)

It was almost midnight and Prachi was still awake. Though her body was giving her cues that it needed some rest and so it was time to sleep, she just couldn't put that book down. She had come up after dinner with the apple of her eye on her toe. He had walked all the way tugging on her dupatta and insisting that she sing to him. Finally she had to sing him to sleep while he clinged to her slender neck. There was no other way to put him to sleep. But Prachi never felt it as a task like many others made it seem. She was always criticized for pampering her baby. Especially Neev and her mom kept interjecting between her and munna. They often said that he is getting older now and should break away a little from his innate attachment to her. She would always be enraged at such talks. Why was everyone always after her child. He was the most important aspect of Prachi's life. Nothing mattered to her other than her little angel.

She always had had a fear of loosing her baby. It was ridiculous to think that a child could ever be separated from its mother. But Prachi was never able to get rid of this gnawing feeling in her gut that someday her baby would be taken away from her. Maybe as a defense mechanism against such strong feelings of fear, she kept him close to her all the time. She never let him go anywhere without her and no one was allowed to take him anywhere without her permission. She had taken care of him solely, even though the rest of the family also loved him dearly. After all he was the first grandchild of the family. She had still exercised a somewhat exclusive rights on the boy. No one was allowed to make any decision regarding her child other than her. Her fear had driven her to great extremes sometimes. Sometimes she didn't even let her mother scold or punish her baby even though PL was only trying to discipline him. She often felt guilty for behaving rudely with everyone else when munna was the topic of dispute. But could she really be blamed. She had almost lost him on so many occasions. She was bound to be protective, it was only natural.

Prachi was still intently reading her book with one hand resting on her sleeping cherub when she heard a light knock on her door. It could only be her mother, Prachi thought. She must have brought her milk. Prachi smiled at the thought that her mother still treated her like a child. She quietly got up and kept the book aside and went to open the door.

Prachi opened the door and motioned PL to be quiet. PL peeked in and saw the little devil sleeping like an angel and asked Prachi to come out. She walked a few steps away from the door.

Prachi was surprised. Like she had thought, it had been her mother at the door with milk in her hands. PL had asked her to step out of the room. This could only mean that they were about to have an important conversation. Prachi's instincts were telling her that something was seriously wrong. But she chalked it up to her paranoia and gave a loving glance back to the bundle of love sleeping on her bed and she slowly closed the door behind her. She walked into the hallway and both mother and daughter walked out to the balcony.

PL was a little hesitant as she didn't know how to begin. So she handed Prachi the glass of milk and tried to ask her how her day went. Prachi sensed this hesitancy and helped her mother out. She said "Maa, aapko kuch kehna hai mujhse". PL was glad for the cue and said "Haan, Prachi mujhe tumse ek zaroori baat karni hai". "Tumhe sun kar shayad bura lage lekin sunna toh tumhe padega".. "kyunki agar aaj tumhe nahi bataya toh kal toh tumhe zaroor pata chal hi jaayega". Now Prachi was really worried. She realized that what her mother was about to say was not good news. She braced herself for it and questioned, "Kya baat hai maa, aap aise kyun keh rahe ho?" PL couldn't get a hold on her emotions. She turned around and closed her eyes in anticipation of what was about to happen…and she said "Prachi, Milind wapis aa raha hai…hamesha ke liye".

Chapter 7 – SHE WILL NOT LET HIM!!!
Dedicated to anger management

PL was not sure if she had actually said what she had meant to say or had she only imagined that she had said those words to Prachi, because she didn't hear any response from her. She opened her eyes and as she turned around. She was met with a stone faced Prachi. She couldn't figure out what was going through Prachi's mind. She called out to her, Prachi, Prachi "tumne suna maine kya kaha". She shook Prachi and that effectively dropped the glass of milk that Prachi was holding so tightly in her hands.

Prachi looked up at her mother, dazed, and asked "kya kaha aapne maa?". PL just gave her a sympathetic look and that's all Prachi needed to see. She had heard correctly. Her worst fears were coming true. Milind was coming back. This could only mean one thing. And the thought that was creeping up in Prachi's mind shook the depths of her soul. It couldn't be, Fate could not deal another tragic blow to Prachi. Hadn't she been through enough. Starting from her father's death Prachi had endured one tragedy after another and now when she had finally found some peace in life, someone was coming to take all of that away. She hadn't realized that she had left her mother in the balcony and had started on her way back to her room. And PL had come after her shaking her and telling her to say something, but Prachi was not aware of anything around her. She could only hear the words "Milind wapis aa raha hai" constantly resounding in her ears. She walked back into her room like a zombie. Her mother watched her from outside the open door as she sat on the edge of her bed and looked at the sleeping child on her bed, but she couldn't see him. She realized that the tears in her eyes were clouding her vision. She blinked, and the burning liquid spilled onto her cheeks. She bent down and planted a kiss on his tiny feet. He stirred slightly at her touch and she quietly moved away, not wanting to disturb his sleep.

She saw the book she was reading, sitting on the table by the bed. She grabbed it and stared at the pages. Everything was blurry. The damn tears were getting in her way. Why was she crying, she thought. There was no need to cry. No one was going to take away anything from her. Not anymore. She wouldn't let him. Slowly the anger was building up inside her. Who was he to waltz into her life unannounced. SHE WILL NOT LET HIM!!!! Her heart was screaming inside her silent body. Suddenly the rage that was taking over her seemed to have complete possession on her. She intended to break every breakable object in her room. But considering that there was a sleeping baby in her room, she did the best she could to not make any noise. She closed her eyes and started counting backwards from 100, 99, 98... Then she tore the pages of the book she was holding and threw the pages on the floor, stepping on them as if it were the face of the one man who was causing her such misery. When she was done stomping, she looked up and was greeted by the horrified look on PL, who was still standing outside the door watching her. Her mother's face seemed to have a calming effect on her and she slowly closed the door, silently asking her mother to also go to sleep. But she knew that neither of them would sleep tonight.

Translation:
"Maa, aapko kuch kehna hai mujhse"
"Mom, do you have something to say to me?"
"Haan, Prachi mujhe tumse ek zaroori baat karni hai".
Yes, i have something important to tell you.
"Tumhe sun kar shayad bura lage lekin sunna toh tumhe padega"..
You must hear it.
"kyunki agar aaj tumhe nahi bataya toh kal toh tumhe zaroor pata chal hi jaayega".
Because if i don't tell you today, you'll find out anyway tomorrow
"Kya baat hai maa, aap aise kyun keh rahe ho?"
What is the matter mother, why are you speaking like this?
"Prachi, Milind wapis aa raha hai…hamesha ke liye".
Prachi, Milind is coming back...for good"
"tumne suna maine kya kaha".
Did you hear what i said?
"kya kaha aapne maa?".
What did you say mother?
"Milind wapis aa raha hai"
Milind is coming back[/code]

Next update: 😛Milind is next. But i might not update anymore tonight. Phew its a good thing i had nothing to do tonight.😆
