We have a week to go before KYM will celebrate its first anniversary on February 19th. I thought we can try listing all the positives of show. Being a K-serial, there are bound to many negatives. But this being a happy occassion let us only think of the positives. For me these would be the positives.

- A strong core to the story. Two couples caught up in the turmoil of their lives and marrying each other's partners only to find one couple moving ahead and the other stuck in the past. This is really very intriguing.

- Fairly consistent characterisation. A lot of thought has gone into the characterisation of each of the main characters and by and large they have stuck to this characterisation (with only mild deviations). There has not yet been whole-scale massacre although there were times some of the things that the leads did bring in a fear that they will slaughter them.

- Excellent cast. I think of all the K- serials, this one has the best star cast. Each character fits like a glove to the actor chosen to do it. The only one I feel is a little out of place is the new dadi. And the actors are doing an excellent job.

- Excellent dialogues. This show has had some of the best dialogues so far, whether it is the heavy emotional stuff or humourous one liners.

- The best jodi ever - Michi - I just so love them. So far they have retained the innocence of this jodi.

- Excellent direction - Although at times some episodes were patchy, by and large the direction in this show has been very good.

- The show has been path breaking in many respects.
  • For the first time they showed a c-night only after the couple admitted their feelings for each other.
  • They followed it up with a beautiful morning after which only reaffirmed their love. There was no shame or guilt as was shown in other past K-serials.
  • So far the show has not been corrupted by rape, divorce, ONS or cross marriages. Although there was a baby out of wedlock, atleast they show that it was conceived when the mother foolishly thinks she is married. That is quite an achievement for a BT show - a full year without this sickening masala. (Hope I have not spoken too soon).
  • The vamp in the show cannot be called a real vamp, but someone who has lost her way and ended up thoroughly messed up. The shades of grey are pretty dark but are not fully black yet.
  • The show has less grandeur than the other shows. Although the flip side is that the cast does not get a decent wardrobe sometimes, at least the show is not as gaudy as some of the other K-shows.
Well these are some points which struck me. Do add you thoughts.

I agree to everything said Opti...
Yes Kayamath has maintained its distinctiveness from the other BT soaps in many ways and i sincerely hope that it continues to do so...

Something that i also love about Kayamath is that the male actors are very real and close to life..Esp Milind..I know many people find his treatmen of Prachi very unruly and unjustified when the Ritwik fiasco broke out, but how else would a man like him react if his wife whom he dearly loves tells him that she had a baby before they got married? And i think the portrayal of his emotions after that was well well brought out, with Shabbir giving his extra bit into every scene! I think Shabbir's entry into the serial was a major turning point of the show..Im so glad Ekta that Ektaa cashed on him to play this role...

Oh I like those positive points 👏

The most positive thing about Kayamath for me personally is definitely Michi and how creative maintain the 'purity' of their relationship.

Plus Milind is a very intriguing character. He has quite short attention span though.

Optimist, it's really difficult to post a reply to your topics cos you cover everything so wonderfully and there is usually nothing more I can add to it. 😊 👏

But one of the intriguing things about KYM for me, though it's not always fully explored is the depiction of working class folks. So one of the positives of KYM for me is the depiction of a working class hero who tries to retain his salt of the earth sensibilites inspite of all the success he has achieved. I also thought the old Ayesha was a great example of a working class girl. Strong with great survival instincts but also someone who could be a good friend to others. Except for Sukriti (no excusing her stupidity), they came across as street smart but essentially decent people. 😊

No, don't change how you write your posts. I honestly meant that as a compliment. 😛

Another positive of KYM is a vamp, I have a sneaky (okay, a lot of) sympathy for. No matter how dispicable Ayesha gets, I still feel as if her pain is genuine, probably cos I found her old character so relatable. 😕
