Yeh Dil Humara hai Pt 1
"Hi, how are you?"
She looked into his eyes not knowing the storm that was raging within him. He looked at the enchanting face in front of him and wondered how such a beautiful creature could have ruined his life.
"what are you thinking milind?"
" Nothing ". He replied. What could he say. The woman who had ruined his life, a woman never to be forgotten in any lifetime dared to ask him such a question? Who did she think she was? To him she had become a nobody. Somebody who merely smiled at him every day and worm themselves into his life at every possible moment.
He turned away from her and walked towards his car.. Not wanting her to see the hatred in his eyes. After all she had been his best friend.
Ayesha wondered how she would get Milind to open up to her, to become closer to him. She was getting frustrated with his non-answers to her questions. She hated it when he walked away from her. She had to wait, wait until the storm that was raging through Milind's heart for Prachi calmed. Until then she would have to wait to reclaim her Milind. After all she had waited for four year.
" Where are you my love?" he silently willed her to answer. " where are you?" Come back, he though, please come back. He was missing her terribly. Yet what could he do but extract the most precious thing that he had that belonged to her. With very gentle hands, he extracted a beautiful yet simple necklace. His wife's Mangalsutra. His Prachi's Mangalsutra.
Part 2
Cradling his most prised possession, Milind let the silent tears fall. Looking out at the beach where they had first made love. He relived every special moment they had shared. The tears, the tantrums the smiles the laughter, the love. He wanted it all back. He wanted his Prachi back.
"Neev! I needed that information yesterday!" he growled.
" What information?" He shouted back.
Neev was well aware of Milind's moods. After working with him for four years Neev had developed a great respect for Milind, he wasn't just Prachi's husband but a dear friend. What had started as a relationship of hate had now become a relationship of the deepest understanding that could exist between two friends. Neev knew that the only reason Milind was angry was to hide his true feelings.
"Aaj phir us churail se pala pad gaya tha kya?" (met with the witch again today did you) Asked Neev.
"Hmm…" grunted milind, still thinking about Prachi.
Neev knew that Milind was remembering Prachi. How could he forget that fateful day when in front of everyone Prachi had left Milind. Prachi's words still rang in his ears, Milinds curses still made him wince and how could he forget his own behaviour? Oh move on Neev, he thought to himself, cheer him up like you usually do and get back to work.
"Pata hai last night mujhe Tina milli thi. She was beautiful yaar, wah kya baal the, kya chaal thi! Our pata hai milind us ki tangai! Hai! Menh to kaayal ho gaya us ki tango par. Who toh yaha takh aa rahi thi."
He pointed to his chest.
With a Sardonic grin milind looked and said " bas itni lambi? Giant bhootniya hi tujhe kyunh milti hai? Satya gaya hai. Sudhar ja. Shadi kar, bache peda kar. Tha ke mujhe koi chacha kahe. Par nahi tu to apni bhootni girlfriends menh hi hush hai!"
With a mock horrified look, Neev replied "Shadi churail se ki, wohi kafi thi is liyai thalaak ke baad downgrade kar kar ab bootniyonh pe tikka hunh! Our bache? Tera Ritwick mere liyai kafi hai! Tu us ka baap menh us ki maa!"
"Chal re, aisi maa se to mera Ritwick to hassi ke marai soosoo kar de! Ab kaam kar, warna ma se keh kar teri shadi kissi bhootni se karva dunh ga!" So saying they got on with the day's tasks.
Part 3
Prachi Mishra, Financial Consultant. She smiled at her name plate. She was so proud of her achievements. It had taken her such a lot of time to finally reach this level. To finally move on with her life, to not look back. STOP IT, she chided herself . I will not think about the past, I will not think about the past. She kept repeating to herself, a mantra that she had learnt to repeat as much as possible over the years. Taking deep breaths she calmed her self and looked through the pile of paperwork that she had to go through before her leave started.
"I'm going to have ice cream, pop corn, chips, more ice cream then pizza."
"Itna sara kaah ke to aap motai ho joa gai. Phir aap ko menh kese utao gi?"
"Simple maa, aap bhi mere saath khana phir aap ke paas big muscles honh gi. Wrestlers ki tharah phir aap fighting bhi kar sacti hain The Rock ke saath, par zyada nahin khana warna moti ho jao gi!"
Trying to keep her laughter in control Prachi held on to her daughter's hand as they walked to her car. This small bundle of joy had made her laugh through her tears, had given her the courage to go on and become who she was today.
Anyone looking at them could clearly see the resemblance. The little girl in dungarees smiled with innocent mischief in her eyes. Her straight hair tied into two cute little pony tails bobbed gently as she walked. She was an energetic child who seemed fascinated with the world around her. She tried to dart here and there yet she held onto her mothers hand.
Milly looked up at her mummy. She was always smiling and today her smile was the biggest smile she had ever seen. Milly knew why her mummy was so happy. Today mummy had got a weeks holidays to spend time with her. She was looking forward to all the things that they were going to do together. Milly just wished that her daddy was there to play with her too.
As Prachi Strapped her daughter into her car seat she remembered how alone she had felt without him. How she had secluded herself in the simple apartment where her father would escape to paint. No one knew it's existence not even her mother. She had licked her wounds in private until the day she had discovered she was pregnant. That was the day that she had realised her true purpose for being. She wasn't just his wife, she was a mother. The joy coursing through her veins had spurred her to find a job in the financial sector. After all her degree had been in Maths. She had been very lucky with her employers, a large progressive company where she could leave her precious baby in their nursery as well as train as a financial consultant. She smiled again thinking how secure her life was.
Part 4
"Mr Mishra, Your son is a very bright and able 6 year old boy. Lekin uski harkatain aisi hain ke bachchon our teachers ko pareshan kar denh."
"Esa kya kiya hai us ne?"
"Yeh poochiya kya nahin kiya. Har class menh board pe pictures banana, teachers se sawaal karna… Ab menh aap ko final warning deh rahi hunh. Aggar yeh nahin sudra to school se yeh nikala jaye ga."
A very quiet and shamefaced milind walked out of the principles office. He had no idea how he was going to tackle this issue. Rithwick's mother wasn't here otherwise she would know what to do. His Maa (Premlata) and baba spoil him, Neev encourages him in all his mischief and he would never let Ayesha near him. He wished Prachi was there, she could always handle Rithwick.
He remembered how his young son as a baby had been brought into the house. Prachi had lied to everyone to get Sukriti and Alaap's, Stop, he's my son, not Alaap's, not sukriti's, Prachi is his mother and will always be. As usual the truth had come out, he had trusted Prachi, but had investigators find the truth about Rithwick. He hadn't blamed Prachi for her actions, he had been proud of her.
"Kya huwa papa?"
He was brought out of his reverie by a small boy dressed in a blue uniform. His hair was long and curly and had looked like it had never been combed. His eyes sparkled with innocent mischief. Anyone looking at them would immediately recognise the father and son jodi.
"Mein tera kay Karun, Rithwick?"Sighed Milind
"Mera fault thori na hai, aggar teachers ko jawaab nahin aatai to menh kya karunh? Ou papa aap ko to pata hai mujhe drawing ka kitna shoak hai. I couldn't help myself!" Giving his papa a winsome smile with his one tooth missing.
Milind merely shook his head and led his son to the waiting car. He had no choice but to take him to work as he had been called in an emergency to the school. He had missed out on an important meeting where he was about to take over a financial company. He knew Neev could handle it so he took his time to get back to the office. All the while trying to explain why his son's actions were not acceptable.
"Esai lagta hai ke pathar pe upna sar maar rah hunh."
"Kyunh papa, phir aap ke sur se hoon kyunh nahin nikal raka?"
"Yeh mohaavera he bacha"
"Who kya hota hai"
"Ab me tere ko kese samjaon"
Ritwick started giggling. He loved it when hi papa lost his cool, he would start talking in his amchi Mumbai voice. When he cried his papa could completely loosen his tongue. That's when he knew his papa was really upset.
Part 5
Milind set Rithwick up in his office with his crayons and paper. That will keep him happy for awhile, he thought. His son had certainly inherited his grandfather's talent for the Arts. He personally couldn't see the point but he knew that it would make him happy.
"Haan Neev, Meeting ka kya huwa?"
A very preoccupied Neev walked in and tousled Ritwicks hair.
"Hi, mere hero"
"Hi chacho, I cant play now, menh busy hunh." Says Rithwick, as he furiously colours in his drawing.
"Achi thi"
"Unka jo head consultant hai who aaj kal chutti pe he us ke saath sab kuch finalise karna pare ga."
"Us ka koi number ya email,"
"Mujhe pata hai tu esa hi kehne wala tha lekin Mr Kapoor is baat pe kafi strict the ke unke koi employee ko nahin contact kar sacte jab thak who chutti pe hain. Our yeh employee to lag raha tha ke kafi haas he."
"Yeh ajeeb baat nahin hai? I mean Mr Kapoor ka esai manna karna?"
"Nahin. Jis tharreekai sai who apna business handle karte hain is very impressive. Humain unki kuch ideas adopt karni chahiye."
"Jesa ke?" Always willing to learn new ideas Milind was all ears.
"Un ke hanh aik nursery hai jaha working mothers apne bache chor sacti hain."
"Sirf working mothers neev?" He raised his eyebrow daring Neev to say one of his one liners.
"Working fathers ke liyai bhi hai." Neev had decided to ignore him.
"Ok. Yeh consultant kab aye ga our us ki details kya hain?"
"do din baad our us ka naam hai…" After searching through his files he finds a card.
"P. Mishra. Financial Consultant. Wah kya title hai"
Milind's heart Skipped a beat. He knew there were many P.Mishra's in this big city. If only…
"Prachi?" He asked in a low voice, not wanting his son to hear.
"Nah. Nahin ho sacti. Prachi kabi business mein interested hi nahin thi. Aggar who kuch banti to who aik teacher ya artist. Prachi kabhi bhi aik cut throat business lady ban hi nahi sacti."
Part 6
"Hi Rithwick"
"Hi masi". She hated that name and wished that he would call her maa. She decided to ignore it this time.
"Tere pyare papa kahan hain?"
"Aa rahe hain." he replied as sullenly as he could. He didn't like masi very much. Neev chacho said it was because Masi's eyes are too close together and she is a churail. Rithwick didn't know what a churail was but he was sure that it wasn't a nice thing. He saw his dear sweet nani, the fourth bestest person in the whole world, armed with a tray full of yellow pastry.
"Naniiiiiii! Mera dhokla!" he cried.
Milind smiled from the doorway. His son's joy at such simple pleasures made his heart full. He longed for Prachi to see their son growing up so quickly. Longed for brothers and sisters for Rithwick.
"Dekha Milind, Tere bete ko aik maa ki zaroorat hai. Aaj phir us ne koi shaitaani ki." Aysha sidled close and started whispering her usual nonsense.
"Ayesha tujhe pata he ke me tere se baat nahi karta. Our apni jassoosi choar deh. Ja koi our time paas dhoond." Saying this Milind walked towards his quiet mother-in-law and her dhokla's
Tu mer pyar tha milind. Prachi se jab toonai shadi ki us waqt to meri zid tha our abhi bhi hai. Tu phir se mera ho kar rahe ga. Menh to jaa rahi bahar business ke liyai lekin jab loatunh gi to phir dekhna!
With a determined look, Aysha flounced off.
"Churail masi challi gayye papa ab to smile karo our dhokla khao!"
Milind smiled and enjoyed the rest of his meal with his son.
Part 7
"Prachi Mishra, here."
"Prachi, Guarav baat kar raha hunh. Kesi ho beta? Our, tumhari Milly ke saath chutti kesi guzri?"
Prachi couldn't help but smile. She had just breezed into her office when her teddy bear of a boss called. He had always been a father figure for her and milly called him nanaji. She had often caught Guarav sir giving treats to Milly slyly.
" Achi thi. Milly ne aap ki treats ko miss kiya." she could hear muffled laughter coming through the phone.
"Prachi mujhe aik bohat zaroori baat karni thi tum se. Mein is waqt California menh hunh so tu hi aik hai jo mere liayai yeh kaam kar sacti ho."
"Ji boliyaiyay," She knew that Guarav sir relied on her heavily, her business acumen was such that each challeneg was as exciting as the next. Guarav sir knew he could trust her.
"Tujhey to pata he ke menh company bhechna cha raha hunh our pichle hafte humain aik buyer mill gaya. Jis ne mujhe assure kiya ke who kissi ko takeover ke baad nokri se nahin nikaale ga. Tujhe us buyer se milna hai."
"Ji. Lekin yeh sab itni jaldi…"
Prachi bit her lip. She knew that she was a valued employee but was worried about her future if the new buyer came to know about her.
"Arre ese maamle to minto menh ho jaate hain our wese bhi ab is buddai menh itni jaan kahan hai?"
"Acha aap unki contact details mujhe bata denh."
"Hanh who hai Mr N. Shergill"
Neev!
shock coursed through her body. The man who had left no stone unturned to hate her. The man who had made sure that the knife Aysha had delivered into her heart had been thoroughly twisted and turned. She still felt the bitter taste in her mouth."Us ka pehla naam Neev he?" she asked with growing trepidation.
"Mujhe yaad nahin beta. Lekin tha wo karoos kisam ka! Pata hai, us ne aik baar bhi smile nahin kiya? Who Shermish International ltd menh partner he. Yeh us company ka naam he. Tum Mr Shergill ko email kar dena ok? Milly ko meri tharaf se kisses dena. Ok bye"
Guarav couldn't help but smile. It was so easy to tell this lie. He wanted to see Prachi happy. It had taken him months to set up a meeting with Milinds company. It was time that they both got together.
Part 8
Yeh neev he ke koi our?
she wondered. She didn't want to do this. The thought of talking to Neev sent shudders down her spine. Her best friend had turned into a stranger and then an enemy. How could she even contemplate working with him?She had no choice she owed Guarav Kapoor a lot and she didn't want to let him down. Prachi decided to err on the side of caution. She decided to email him.
Dear Mr Shergill,
I have been informed by my employer of your company's intention in buying Kapoor and Company. I have been instructed to liaise with you and finalise all details.
I therefore require that you send all the particulars to my office as soon as possible.
Regards
P. Mishra
Finally she was happy with her email. It had taken her two horrible hours to write these lines. Before she could change her mind she pressed the send button.
" Milind mene kaha tha na ke yeh P. Mishra Prachi nahin he. Yeh dekh P. Mishra ka email.
Millind read through the short message and made a face.
"Ese lagta he ke is P.Mishra ne nimboo choos kar email likha he. Teri Prachi kabhi esa likh hi nahin sacti." Neev wondered aloud.
How could anyone write such a short and formal email he did not know. He was not looking forward to meeting this Mr P. Mishra. He knew his Prachi was full of love and this P. Mishra had definitely sucked some lemons! Sucked lemons? He loved Neev's one liners.
"Acha tu aik kaam kar Neev. Is P. Mishra ko email kar ke sari details bhej de. Saath menh ese hi likh dena ke kapoor and Company menh hum 25% of Workforce ko nikaal denh ge. Phir dekhna us ka reaction"
"Lekin Milind hum ne to Mr Kapoor ko promise kiya tha ke…" Neev was confused. What was milind up to?
Mujhe pata he lekin hum takeover kar rahe henh. Our koi bhi employee jab esa email bheje to us ki vaat lagana zaroori par jata hai." Milind replied harshly.
"Lekin Milind.."
"Lekin kuch nahin. It will keep P. Mishra on his toes." Milind Smiled, looking forward to the the clashing of two titans. There was only one Mishra who could rule and that was Milind Mishra.
Part 9
Prachi couldn't believe it! How could he! How dare he! Within half an hour of sending her message. She had received a reply where this Mr Shergill wanted to fire 25% of the Staff! There was no way that she would let him do this. A hundred staff members' livelihood was at stake and she was responsible. Guarav sir had given her this responsibility. There was no way that anyone was going to do harm to Kapoor and Company!
With the light of battle in her eyes. Prachi stormed off in her car to Shermish International Ltd. Every minute spent in the car was agony. The heat of the Midday sun, the traffic of Mumbai did nothing to ebb her anger.
Prachi marched into the reception area and asked for Mr Shergill's Office. The bored looking receptionist looked Prachi up and down. The woman looked like one of Neev sir's girlfriends. But she was a little shorter than what Neev sir usually went out with. Who cares she thought, this one looks very angry. In anticipation of the drama that was about to unfold she let the lady go up.
" Sir P. Mishra is here to see you." Anounced Neev's secretary.
"Neev hum usse aaj to expect nahin kar rahe the kya?" Milind quirked his eyebrow. He knew when he had sent the email that something like this could happen. ab aye ga maza, mere saat sheyyarranh banai ki koi bhi koshish nakaamyaab hoti hai.
"Nahin Milind yeh teri shart ki waja se he." Neev bit his lip. He had seen Milind like this before. It was his battle look, Milind knew he was the alpha male and couldn't stand it if anyone came to challenge him. He knew very well what it felt like to wage a war against Milind and lose. "Aya ho ga gussa jhaarne, Ab menh thamasha dekhunh ga." Laughed Neev.
"MR SHERGILL KAHAN HO TUM?" She Shouted. Prachi had passed all reason, she was so angry that she could barely see in front of her. The stupid receptionist hadn't helped matters.
Part 10
Prachi
Milind and Neev stared at the vision of loveliness. She was more beautiful than he remembered, but she was somehow different. Neev couldn't believe his eyes, after years of searching, Prachi had come back to them!
"Prachi tum…" Neev started. He had no clue what he wanted to say.
"DON'T you dare Prachi me. HOW dare you fire one hundred people for your own gain! HOW DARE YOU! WHO gave you the right to play with lives? TUM apne aap ko kya samajte ho MR SHERGILL. Meri company walonh ko nikaal kar unhi ke banai huwai pesonh pe raaj karo ge. Sheh, jesi maa wesa beta!"
The angry mist around her seemed to slowly lift. She had been aware that there was another person in the room. Her concentration had been for Neev, she had suspected that it would be him and was glad to have her suspicions confirmed.
"Prachi tum mujhe ghalat…" Neev tried to say but was immediately cut off.
"Habar daar Mr Shergill, Habar daar". She was much calmer now and flicked her gaze around the room and stopped. She stared. Her mouth became dry, nothing wanted to come out. She could think of nothing.
He stood in front of her, looking as he had done before, proud and autocratic. He had cut his hair, his beard gone, there were a few flecks of grey. He looked as if he was waiting, waiting to pounce like a tiger onto his prey.
Prachi was angry. Really angry. She had never looked so beautiful and fierce. She was a sight for sore eyes. His eyes.
"I should have known." She found her voice from some where. think Prachi think. You're here to do a job, get on with it. He is only a business colleague. A colleague whose morals belong in the gutter! Shermish? Yani Shergill our Mishra. Wah kya naam he! Our kaam dekho…tum dono ne mil kar jo kiya he wo nakabillai thareef he. Tum dono ne thai to kar liya key 100 logo ko kaam se nikaal do ge lekin yeh nahin socha ke unhi logon ke ghar walon ka kya ho ga? Bacho ki fees, khana, than ke liyai kapre, sar chupaanai ke liyai ghar. Yeh sab bhool gaye the kya? Tum ese un logon ke saath nahin khel sacte. Yeh koi khel nahin, reality he.
On and on she went. Venting her anger. He let her speak. He looked at Neev who was as equally dumbstruck to see his childhood friend lambasting them. Both of them had never seen this side of Prachi. It was confusing Neev no end. Milind smiled, wow she's turned into a fiesty cat, ab aye ga maza.
"Yeh mazaak nahin hai Mr Mishra. Aaj tum un jese amiron menh ho jo garibon ko nachatai hain upni ungliyonh pe."
Ok that's it
. Taking quick strides. He grabbed her and kissed her. And kissed her. And kissed her."Tum dono jaa ke koi kamra nahin dhoond sacte kya?"
"Ufff!" he groaned in shock.
"Ouch" cried Neev.
She had taken him completely unawares, who would have thought that Prachi would have, would have hit him so hard, and in such a sensitive area!
" Ab to tere bache ganje peda honh ge!" Neev was laughing at him!
"Prachi", he gasped, trying to get his breathing under control.
"I'm sorry yaar who chali gayee"
"Yera ho gaya he tu. Usse rok le" cried Milind, there was no way he was letting her go. Not after that kiss. She had been so rigid, he had wanted to give up and then he felt her stir, her lips had parted and she had started to kiss him back. If only Neev hadn't broken the spell. He smiled through his pain, he was going to get his Prachi back, by hook or by crook.
Neev ran as hard as he could. There was no way that he was going to let her go. As he turned the corner he collided with the receptionist. There was no way he could catch up with her now.
😳Please let me know what you thought of this scene as it is crucial for the next bit!😍
Part 11
Prachi was in shock. He had kissed her! She couldn't believe the audacity of it and in front of Neev too!
Her legs were shaking as she reached the car, she just had to sit down and think. She looked in the rear view mirror and saw Neev's approaching figure and quickly ducked down. Get out of here, hurry up. Think you stupid woman think. Get out now. Prachi hurriedly reversed her car out of the car park and promptly got stuck in the post-work traffic.
Now what am I going to do?
sitting in the car waiting for the crawling traffic to move she had time to calm down and think. She was going to be late for Milly. She's my priority, my jaan, there is no way that Milly should see me in this state. Where do I go? All I know is the office and home. If there was one thing that Prachi had learnt in the last few years it was to be decisive. She couldn't stand people who dithered in making decisions. The first thing she would do is go to the office, she would be too late to collect Milly from nursery but that was easily sorted. Making a prompt call to a her friend and secretary, Sur, Prachi asked if she could take Milly home with her.Sur could tell that something was wrong, yet she knew not to pry. Prachi would tell her in her own time. Meanwhile collecting Milly and her own son, Yash, from the nursery would be no problem. Milly staying the night and teaching her nerdy son how to wrestle would be an absolute pleasure.
"Tu fiqar mat kar Prachi, Milly will be fine," she reassured her friend. "You know we love having her when you have to work late. Wese bhi you'll see her in the morning. Just make sure you call her before she goes to sleep."
Prachi knew Milly would be safe and happy. Now for the next bit. She had finally reached the office and was met by kaka, the security guard.
"Kaka aggar koi admi muhe dhoonte huwe yaha aye, our aggar us ka naam Milind Mishra ho to usse upar bhej dena".
She knew he was coming, she knew him well enough to know that he would pursue her ruthlessly just like he had done before their marriage.
Prachi calmed her nerves and practised her breathing and waited.
Part 12
Aap koan he sahib"
"Mein? Mein hunh Millind Mishra, Mujhe uupar jaane do."
"Hanh, hanh Prachi memsahib ne kaha tha aap ayen ge. Wo floor 32 par kamra number 21 mein hain." Replied kaka. Eyeing up the smartly dressed handsome man.
Milind was surprised. She knew he would come and had left instructions. Yeh Prachi bhi na, abhi bhi sab ka khayaal rakti hai. He smiled in anticipation of the coming meeting. As he rode up to the 32nd floor he remembered how Neev had helped him find Prachi's exact location by following her. She had thought that Neev hadn't seen her, but she didn't know how chalaak Neev and himself were. As soon as Neev had realised where she was headed he had contacted Milind and then headed home to tell Maa the good news.
Ding! He was brought out of his reverie and walked out of the lift. The lights were still on. There were still a few people working at desks. He was impressed. Guarav Kapoor ran a tight ship. He stopped a passer by and asked where he would find Prachi.
"Thanks". He was grateful for the man's help. The less time to reach Prachi the better.
"Your welcome, lekin bach ke rehna, Madam Mishra jab late kaam karti hain to koi unhe disturb nahin kar sacta. Boss ki right hand henh wo!" He warned.
Hmm interesting
. Prachi had made a success of herself, he was proud of her but he wondered how much of herself had she lost whilst climbing the ladder off success.Prachi Mishra: Financial Consultant. He was here.
Knock! Knock! Prachi gasped in shock. She had been thinking of the past and making her resolve strong. She hadn't forgotten what he, Neev and Aysha had done. He was about to get a rude awakening.
"Come in." she said in the calmest voice that she could muster.
"Kesi ho Prachi?" He whispered. She was sitting in a black leather chair and looked as if she belonged there. Her face was devoid of any emotion. So that how's she's going to play it is she. Mere ko kya? Aaj raat yeh apne ghar ho gi.
"Menh theek hunh. Tum kese ho?" Yeh kya? She called him tum she never called him tum before. He decided to ignore the question and looked around her office. He didn't care for her stark dcor, the cold colours on the walls were so not Prachi. She had adorned the walls with vibrant paintings. He liked them but he had never thought that Prachi would like such art.
"Paintings achi he."
"Thanks." She was surprised by his comment and flattered. Only Sur and Milly knew she painted. "Lekin tum meri paintings nahin dekhne aye. Seedhi baat karo."
"Seedhi baat to kar raha hunh. Mene tuj se kabhi terri baat ki he kya?"
"Bano mat humara sirf aik business relationship hai. Meri company, tumhari company se deal kar rahi hai. Tum logon kai waadai ke mutabik koi worker kaam se nahin nikala jai ga. Lekin tum ne apna irada badal diya. Mujhe yeh deal chahiyai."
"Humara aik personal relationship bhi hai Prachi." He leaned over her desk, he was so close that he could kiss her. He could feel her breath quicken. So she wasn't immune to him after all. Interesting. He quickly moved away from her, not wanting to rock the boat our to have bold children with her!
"Aggar tujhe yeh deal chahiyai, our tu jo who 100 logon ki baat kar ke mera bheja fry kar rahi hai nah… Aggar tujhe yeh sab chaiyai to tujhe aik.. extra kaam karna parai ga."
"Kya?" She asked with trepidation. This was not what she was hoping for.
"Tujhe wapis Shah House chalna ho ga abhi issi waqt."
"What?!!" She screeched, "that's impossible. Meri aik life hai ussai menh choar kar tere paas aa joan. That's not possible! Tum apne aap ko kya samajtai ho? Menh teri katpttli nahin hunh!"
"Mere paas kis ne kaha tujhe aanai ko. Menh neh to sirf Shah House ki baat ki thi. Meri nahin. Mere paas aana to tere liyai bonus hoga!"
She was livid. She got up and raised her hand, but milind was too quick for her this time and stopped her just in time.
"Unh unh, tu yeh galati pehle mere office menh kar chukki hai. Ab nahin." He grinned as she squirmed, her wrist still held tightly in his hand. What a wrist, smooth to the touch, she looked like a porcelain doll, ready to break. Yet this Prachi was no where near breaking.
Shit
she knew she was cornered. What do I do now. I don't want to get hurt again, please not again. I can't go through another naatak. What about Milly? He doesn't know and if he finds out he'll snatch her away from me just like he did with Rithwik. Prachi why are you dithering? You know you would risk anything to help those 100 people just say yes and think about the rest later. Remember one step at a time."Theek hai Milind." He let go of her hand and smiled triumphantly. "meri bhi aik shart hai. Shah House to main jaa rahi hunh, lekin mere uupar koi pabandi nahin honi chahiyai, our na hi main wohi responsibilities poori karunh gi jo pichli baar mujhe poori karni parri thi."
"Done." He was impressed by this new Prachi. He had never seen her like this, she was like a glorious lioness protecting her cubs. " Ab chal, tera intezaar ho raha hai."
"Mera intezaar koan kare ga? Mere apne to tum ne parai kar diyai thai. Ab wahan koan bachcha hai"
He was saddened by her words. His Prachi had spent the last four years all alone whilst he at least had Rithwik. Hiding his guilt, he replied, "Bachcha hai, yehi samaj lo."

Part 13
"Mummy!"
Uff! A small body collided with hers and was hugging her legs. For a moment she thought it was Milly hugging her. She looked down into a mass of curly hair. He looked up and she gasped, "Rithwick!" Her legs gave way, kneeling on the floor, she cradled her baby. All her resolve, her anger melted. She held him close, smelt his unique smell. Touched his face, his paint spattered hands. She kissed him on his face, his hands. She hugged him again and murmured sweet nothings into his hair like she had done as a baby. Her silent tears a testimony on how much she missed her son.
"Mera Rithwik intna barra ho gaya?" She asked him.
"Barai to sab hotai hain mummy," he smiled at his mother. He had always hated it when anyone kissed him. But in his mummy's arms it felt ok. He had never been hugged like that either. He liked it and didn't want her to ever let go.
"Mummy ab aap kahin nahin jaana. Mene aap ko bohat miss kiya, papa ne bhi. Dekho who abbhi baby ki tharah roh rahe hain! Tissue doonh papa?!" Mein big boy our aap baby. Ha Ha!" He laughed at his own joke. He knew his papa would laugh and feel happy again.
Prachi turned and saw Milind's eyes filled with tears of happiness, sadness ,jealousy? She did not know, nor did she care. She had her son in her arms.
"Prachi." A quiet voice whispered her name in disbelief.
"Maa" Prachi tried to get up to go to her mother, but Rithwick's embrace kept her still. Her mother rushed over to her instead. Premlata cupped her daughter's face in her hands and kissed her gently. Not wanting to break her bond with her nor break Prachi's with Rithwick's, she did her aarti kneeling on the floor.
His Prachi was crying. He had done this to her and he would amend his mistake. Milind looked around at his family, Prachi, Rithwik, Maa. His life was complete.
Part 14
She lay her sleeping son's body onto his bed. Touched his hair, he needs a hair cut,
she thought. Her resolve to be aloof had melted. He was a lovely boy full of mischief yet wise beyond his years. That was my fault, I should have fought harder for you my son. For that I am sorry. She kissed him on his head and quietly left his room."Ussai sulah diya beta? Aa mere paas betth. Mujhe tere saat kitni baatain karni hai.
"Hanh maa. Thori derr main. Pehle mujhe aik phone karna hai. Kya main phone istemaal…"
"Yeh tera ghar hai poochne ki kya zaroorat hai." Milind replied from the doorway. He had changed into a kurta pyjama and was looking very much at home.
Milind had watched her all evening. She had bathed and played with Rithwick. She had fed him with her own hands. His son had loved the attention that Prachi had showered on him. The love that she had for his son was so evident, she was a natural mother. It almost seemed like she knew exactly what Rithwick was thinking and could cater for his every need. She was an amazing mother, his Prachi.
Maa had given her a yellow saree to wear, an old saree that he had kept in their wardrobe. Had she recognised it he did not know. She looked like his old Prachi, but she was missing one thing. Her Mangalsutra.
"Menh study menh phir phone karti hunh."
She brought him out of his reverie. He knew what he had to get. So nodded and walked away.
How rude.
she thought but let it go, she was going to call Milly. She knew her daughter would still be waiting up for her, even though it was now 9pm and way past her bedtime."Hello?" A small tired voice answered.
"Hi meri jaan! Kese hain aap?"
"Mummy! Aap ne bohat derr laga di. You know it's past my bedtime. You're very naughty!" Cried her daughter.
"I'm sorry baba. Menh yahan aik kaam menh busy hunh. So hum kal millai gai ok?" She whispered, she did not want anyone to hear her conversation.
"Ok ab aap soh jain. Love you lots my sweetheart."
"Good night mummy," she yawned.
She cradled the receiver for a few seconds, a small smile still on her face. Crash! She turned around to see milind and a broken vase.
"Kya huwa? Tum ne gamlah kyunh thorah?"
He was in pain. His Prachi had moved on. He had thought she had spent the last four years alone pining for him. Just like he had done for her. But no, Prachi had a lover, a a sweetheart. His chest hurt, his heart hurt.
"Ese hi mujhe pasand nahin aa raha tha." He managed to reply. She laughed at his absurdity. "Milind there are other ways to get rid of something. Thor ke kya faida?"
She was terrified that he had heard her conversation. Yet it seemed that he hadn't heard anything. She sighed with relief.
"Oh well, never mind. Good night milind." She moved to walk away not daring to spend anytime with him alone.
"Ruko. Wo tu apne kissi chahne wale se baat kar rahi thi kya?"he asked with a heavy heart.
"Hanh to?" Thanks Mr Mishra. Jo tum samajna chate ho wohi samjo. She felt relieved he had no clue.
"Tu ne usse mere baarai menh bataya?"
"Nahin. Batana zaroori nahin samja"
"Rishte mein jhoot nahin bolte warna wo rishta toot jata he Prachi."
"Tumhain isse kya? Meri private life mein dahal andazi ka tumhain koi haq nahin he" she was getting angry again. He could see it clearly yet he didn't want to let the matter drop. Ab to aadat si par gayee hai, dard ko lipat kar rulati ja rahi hai (that's a samina original shayr!)
"Mujhe Haq he. Tu meri biwi hai"
"Nahin milind jab mene is ghar ki dehlees langi this us waqt se le ke aaj thak menh teri biwi nahin hunh. Tumhai koi bhi haq nahin hai." Making sure she had the last word, she walked out.
Enjoy😳
Part 15
Hi guys. I was made to realise that not everyone understands Hindi so you will notice some blue bits in this part. they are translations for dialogues. i hated doing this as i feel it impinges on the flow of the story but i do want everyone to enjoy. Please do let me know what u think of the blue bits.
Jaz i stole one of ur lines. can you spot it?
Milind?"
"Kya?"
(What) He looked up to see Neev's face up close."Tu ne poori raat study menh guzaari? Bhabhi tera wait shayad upar kar rahi thi?"
(you slept in the study all night? Bhabhi may have waited for you upstairs!) He teased. It was abit strange to think of Prachi as his Bhabhi."Shut up Neev!" He roared. All of last night's words with Prachi came haunting back and left a bitter taste in his mouth. "Who mujhe bhula chukki hai neev. Us ka koi our chahnai hai."
She's forgotten me Neev. She has someone else. His slumped body was stiff and ached all over. It was nothing compared to the thoughts of her spending her life with some other man."Yeh tu kya keh raha hai milind?"
What are you saying MilindNeev was confused. It seemed that he had spent the last two weeks as the most confused person on earth. Maybe I've been hit on the head?"Hanh yeh sach he. Mein ussai yahan upne swart ke liyai laya our ab dekh. Behtar ho ga ke who challi jai yahan se."
Yes it's the truth. I brought her here in selfishness and now look. It would be better if she just left."Ye tu kya keh raha hai? Jis ke liyai tu ne apni zindagi ke 4 saal intezaar our thalaashi menh guzarai ab ussi ko tum ese hi jaane do gai? Wesai bhi, tujhe ghalat fehmi huwi hai."
What are you talking about? You spent 4 years of your life waiting and looking for her and now you want her to go? Anyway you're mistaken.
"Nahin yaar koi ghalat fehmi nahin huwi mene usse apne kaano se usse 'sweetheart' our 'jaan' kehte huwai sunna."
No, my friend, I am not mistaken. I heard heard her with my own ears. She called him sweetheart and Jaan.
Neev laughed at this man's idiocy. "Arre duffar. Tu aik idiot he. Nahin tu idiots ka bhi baadshah hai!"
You idiot! No you are the king of idiots!"Neev mujhe apne haal pe chor deh."
Neev, leave me aloneHe couldn't stand Neev's laughter right now. Even if he was trying to console him."Chor dunh ga lekin pehle meri baat sun. Kal raat, Prachi ke yahan aane ke baad menh us ke office gaya, wahan uske ke colleagues se mila. Mujhe pata he ke jis kissam ka tu duffar he tu jaldbazi pehle kare ga our baat baad menh pata chele gi. Prachi ka koi Pracha nahin hai. Us ne tujhe kal raat ko ullu banaya hai. Bal ke, tu believe nahin kare ga. Oh god menh bhi believe nahi kar sacta ke…"
I'll leave you but first you will listen to me. Last night, after Prachi came home, I went back to her office, I met her colleagues. I know that the kind of idiot that you are, you head first into a situation then ask questions later. Prachi has no Pracha. She made an idiot out of you last night. Actually, you wont believe this… oh god I can't believe it.
"Kya neev kya?" He cried in desperation and hope.
What neev what?
"Yaar tu ne mujhe dubara chacha bana diya!"
Yaar you've made me into an uncle again!
"Kya? Tu pagal toh nahin he? Bachcha banane mein 9 mahinai lagtai hai. Mein toh Prachi se kal mila!"
What? Are you crazy? To make a baby it takes 9 months. I only met Prachi yesterday! Neev's finally lost it, he thought."God Milind tu na duffar he, naa-hin idiots ka baadshah tu to, tu to bas aik pislah huwa kehla (banana) hai!"
God milind, your not silly, nor the king of idiot, you are…. You are a walked upon banana skin (sorry that's how creative I get, it sounded good in my head)
"Neev" Milind growled. He was getting angry with his insults as well as the fact that he just couldn't understand him.
"Milind… Teri aik 3 saal ki Beti hai, Prachi ki Beti"
Milind you have a 3 year old daughter, Prachi's daughter
"Phir se keh"
Say it again
"Ab tu bhera bhi hogaya kya?"
Have you gone deaf?Neev was getting frustrated. He wanted to go and fetch his niece. "Teri our Prachi ki aik Beti hai. Who 3 saal ki hai. Us ka naam Milly he. Ha Ha. Milind ki aik Milli hai. Prachi ka taste naamonh menh to bekaar he"
Your Prachi has a daughter. She is three years old. Her name is Milly. Ha Ha Milind has a Milly. Prachi has awful taste in names! He had a daughter? A mini prachi named Milly. How sweet! The joy, the elation he felt was nothing compared to knowing that Prachi had no Pracha. A little girl! He could just imagine her in pigtails, wearing a cute little pink frock. She would be just like Prachi, sweet, innocent, demure, classy and so feminine.
"Aggar Prachi Shah House menh he to Meri Beti kahan he? Kahin to kal raat wo us se baat kar to nahin rahi thi?"
If Prachi is in Shah House then where on earth is my daughter? Was she the one Prachi was talking to last night?"Ab aii akkal?" Finally, alittle bit of clarity. Neev hated misunderstandings.
Finally got some sense?
"Chup Neev."
Shut up Neev. He kissed him on his Cheek."Oh Yuck!" Milind "Mujhe bhootniyanh achi lagti hai bhoot nahin!"
I like lady ghosts not men ghosts"Who kahan ho gi, kesi ho gi Neev?"
Where is she, what would she be like Neev?"Mujhe pata hai. Wo Prachi ki secretary ke paas he. Security walai ne bataya. I tell you Milind wahan security tight karni pareh ghi."
I know. She is with Prachi's secretary. The security guy told me. I tell you Milind we'll have to tighten up security over there."Neev chal usse le aatai hain.
Neev lets go get her
"Hanh chalte henh par pehle upne daant to brush karle!"
Yeah let go but could you brush your teeth first!
Milind merely grinned. First his wife, now his daughter. Maybe today wouldn't be a bad day after all.
😛
Part 16
"Yes?"
"Hi. Menh Milly ko dhoond raha hunh, Mujhe Prachi ne bheja hai".
I'm looking for Milli, Prachi sent me. He looked at the small lady in curlers and smiled his most charming smile."Hanh lekin aap henh koan?"
yes but who are you? Replied Sur. She had seen this man's portrait in Prachi's flat so knew he was related to Milly and Prachi. He was very handsome man who brooked no argument, she noted that he was tall and could cause some serious damage if she confronted him. She doubted that he would use his obvious physical strength."Papa!" Screeched a small child and collided with his knees. He looked down into his Prachi's eyes. She was quite tall for her age and was dressed in the strangest nightclothes he had ever seen. Her shirt had a picture of a very menacing looking man. Prachi's turned her into a punk! Oh no… hang on… he's a wrestler, one of those clowns that Neev watches on a Saturday morning. Her hair in to pigtails is messy because it hasn't been combed yet!
She was looking up at him in expectation. His whole body shook with the realisation that his flesh and blood was hugging him. He leant down and hugged her close. "Mera beta,"
My child (masculine) he whispered."Papa menh larki hunh larka nahin!"
Papa I'm a girl not a boyShe teasedWow
she thought. Her papa had kind eyes they were staring down at her the same way that mummy stared at her. His fuzzy beard was scratchy but she didn't mind. This is my daddy!"Aap ne mujhe pehchaan liya milly?"
You've recognised me Milly? he asked in wonderment. He wanted to hear her voice say papa again."Hanh"
Yes
"Who kese?"
How
"Mere paas aapki ko our Ridvi bhaiyya ki aik barri tasveer hai. Mere kamre menh hai."
I have a picture of you and Ridvi brother. It's in my room"Really?" he asked. He was surprised, he hadn't thought that Prachi would keep any mementos of him.
"Really"
"Beta aap mere saath chalain gai?"
Child will you come with me? He was scared that she would say no."Hanh lekin phir mummy pareshan ho jain ghi. Who aaj aa rahi hain."
Yes but mummy might get worried. She's coming today
"Jahan hum jaa rahai hain wahan mummy bhi hai."
Mummy will be where we are going.
"Ok aap meri madat karenh gai thayaar honai menh?Jese mummy karti henh?"
Will you help me get ready then? The same way that mummy does?
Neev looked on. He didn't want to intrude on their father daughter time. He had introduced himself as her Neev chachu (
paternal uncle) and was surprised to learn that she already knew who he was. I wonder what Prachi has told her about me? He couldn't help but smile at Milinds antics in getting Milly ready. The clothes part were easy as she wore some leggings and a t-shirt. She had surprised Milind there who was expecting a Barbie doll of a daughter! He was now struggling to tie her hair in to two pony tails!"Milind yeh tere liyai pareshani wali baat kyunh hai. Tum ne upne lambe baal kabhi nahin baandhe?"
Milind why are you stressed? Did you never tie up your long hair? Asked Neev laughing."Mumff," replied milind, who was busy holding a comb in his mouth.
Neev finally assessed Milind's work. "not bad!" kahan se seekha tu ne hair dressing milind?"
Where did you learn hair dressing from Milind?"Wo main sukriti ke baal bachpan menh baandta tha. Ab chal na Rithwick humara raha dekh raha ho ga!"
I used to tie sukriti's hair when she was a child. Now lets go Rithwick waiting for us.So saying,Milind swung his daughter onto his shoulders to the waiting car.
Part 17
"Mummy our doh na"
Mummy give me some more
"Hanh Beta."
Sure beta. She placed another spinach paratha into his plate. He was the only child, excepting Milly who loved Spinach parathas. "Lekin jaldi aap ko school jana hai our phir mujhe kaam par." But hurry, you need to go to school and then I have to go to work She was impatient to leave, to see her other baby."Mummy aaj Saturday he aaj na school our na hi kaam he!"
Mummy it Saturday, there no work and definitely no school!
"Achcha to phir Saturdays kya karte hain?"
So what do we do on a Saturday? She was now in a quandary. How would she go and meet Milly now?"Ice cream khate henh our bohat sari masti karte hain!"
We eat lots of ice cream and get up to no good!
She laughed in some ways he was so much like Milly. He would be a great older brother for her. She felt a pang for Milly, she was missing her terribly. There was no way to call her without alerting everyone to Milly's existence. Although Milind had disappeared very early in the morning she had no idea when she would be able to see her darling. There was no way that she could stay at Sur's until Monday. She had to do something.
"Rithwick tere aanai se kitna badal gaya he. Abhi thak us ne aik bhi shaitaani nahin ki!
Rithwick has changed so much since you came back. He hasn't played his usual tricks yet! Premlata was proud of the changes in her grandson."Really Maa? Usse thora waqt do. Us ki ragonh menh Milind ka hoon hai shaitaani to who zaroor kare ga."
Really maa? Give him some time. He is afterall Milind's sonShe laughed knowing full well how Milind's children could only stay still for a small amount of time.
"Beta"
Child
"Ji Maa"
Yes maa?
"Kabhi Kabhi mujhe esa lagta hai ke tumhara yahan dil nahin lag raha. Milind to our baat he, our menh us menh pehle ki tharah koi dahalandaazi nahin karunh ghi. Lekin…"
I sometimes get the feeling that you heart isn't here, you're not settled. This isn't about milind. And like before I'm not going to stick my oar in. But…"Mummy!"
"Uff" twice in twenty-four hours. She looked down expecting her son. He really had to stop doing that. "Milly!" Tum yahan kese meri Jaan?"
How did you get here my darling?"Mujhe papa laye."
Papa brought me
"Papa?" Oh dear god no. He knows, he's going to take her away from me. Shut up Prachi he wont do anything of the sort. You are not the same person you were four years ago. If he even tries anything he'll have the biggest fight on his hands!
"Hanh mehne unhai pehchaan liya.
I recognised him. I'm not stupid mummy."Prachi looked around to find every member of Shah House staring at her and her daughter. She looked at Milind who was smirking like an idiot. Neev was with him. Maa looked as bewildered as Ritwick. She knew it was time to come clean. Taking a deep breath she introduced Milly to Rithwick.
"Milly aap ko yaad he mene aap ko aapke Rithwick bhaiyya ke baarai menh bataya tha? Aaj apne bhaiyya se millo ghi?"
Milly do you remember I told you about your brother Rithwick? Would you like to meet him? She knew she had to do this gently she didn't want any jealousy between them. She didn't want the relationship she had with Aysha and Alaap to be mirrored between these two."Hanh
yes Mummy""Rithwick is se millo, yeh Milly hai. Aap ki bahen"
Rithwick meet Milly, your sister
"Hi ridvi bhaiyya. Aap ko wrestling aati hai?"
Hi Ridvi bhai. Do you know how to wrestle?
"Hi Milly aap ko painting aati he?"
Hi milly do you know how to paint?
"Nahin,"
No, both replied to their simultaneous questions. They both smiled at each other."Tum breakfast karo ghi. Mummy neh palak parathai banai. Mere favourite henh!"
Will you have breakfast? Mummy made spinach parathas. My favourite!
"Mere bhi!"
Mine too! She cried excitedly, "mummy hates them but I luurrve them."Prachi smiled at her two babies. She had some more explaining to do yet.
"Aik minute Milly. Mujhe aap ko Nani ur papa se sahi tharah se introduce karwana he."
One minute milly. I need to introduce you to your nani and papa. She decided to ignore Neev."Meri aik nani bhi hai? Wow mummy upne birthday par mene sirf papa our bhaiyya maange the."
I hava a nani? Wow mummy I only wished for a papa on my birthday.Prachi kissed the top of her daughters head. "Maa, Milind. Yeh meri beti hai. Malvika Millind mishra. Sab isse Milly bulatai hain kyunh ke jab isne bholna shuruh kiya tha to wo sirf milind ka naam leh pati thi. Malvika is ke liyai bohat mushkil tha. He na Malvika?"
Maa. Milind. This is my daughter. Malvika Milind Mishra. Everyone calls her Milly as when she started talking she could only pronounce the milind. Malvika was difficult for her. Isn't that right Malvika?"Hanh mera naam Malvika Milind Mishra hai."
Yeah my name is Malvika Milind Mishra. She smiled at them all.Part 18
He looked at his sleeping children, who had fallen asleep whilst watching Lion king. He was so proud of them. Both were so alike yet so different. For the first time in his life Milind appreciated the role a mother played in her children's lives. Rithwick who had so far spent an unsettled childhood now seemed much calmer. Rithwick's behaviour had delighted him, yet he had missed some of his shaitaani (
mischief). Milly, his Malvika, was the brightest and most inquisitive three year old he had ever met. She wasn't anything like what he had imagined his daughter to be like. A tomboy with a passion for wrestling! That was definitely a new one! Yet according to his mother-in-law this was nothing new, Prachi had been the same, although Prachi's obsession had been to climb trees with Neev!He quietly chuckled at their antics today. The atmosphere had been jovial, even Baba had been forced into playing children's games!
Rithwick had been disappointed to share his newfound mother with Milly, yet Milly's adoration for her brother had diminished his disappointment. She had taught him how to wrestle and made him watch her favourite characters on TV. Rithwick in turn had shown her his paintings, she had complimented him earnestly and told him about her mothers paintings. Their bond had quietly strengthened throughout the day.
Prachi his, Prachi. She had turned into an enigma. At every turn in the last 36 hours she had surprised him. Her defence for her colleagues to the love she shared with her family. He always knew what she could be like but seeing her in action had made his blood zing with an old familiarity. Something he hadn't felt in a long time.
What had truly surprised him was her ability to paint. He made a mental note to quiz Milly about her mother, he didn't dare ask Prachi himself.
She had avoided him throughout the day, but not anymore. He had heard Prachi's comment earlier, she thought they got their shaitaani from him. He chuckled imagining the shaitaani he would do with her tonight. He quietly got up, kissed both of his children and made his way to his bedroom.
One more part before the unveiling of why michi split! this may be spread over a few parts! i'm still waiting for inspiration on this so i ask you how should milind grovel to prachi?😉 😃
Part 18
Milind entered his bedroom to find a bedroll on the side of his bed. Oh no not this again! Milind moved towards his wife. He did not want her to sleep on the floor. She was his equal and deserved his respect.
"Prachi yeh sabkya hai?"
Prachi what is all this?
"Who mene spare bedroom ka… intezaam nahin ho paya…wo maa"
I um the spare bedroom… nothing could be arranged… umm maashe tried to explain.
"Teri jaga neechai nahin hai, bed par hai Prachi. Is bistrai pe nahin!"
Your place isn't on the floor, it's on the bed Prachi. Not on this bedroll
"Mujhe pata he milind. Yeh bistra tumahara hai mera nahin!"
I know milind. This bedroll is yours not mine! She cried triumphantly. There was no way that Milind would be able to worm his way back into her heart. He was shocked. Where was the shy, meek Prachi? Who would do anything for her husband. Who had declared Rithwick her child in front of so many just so that he didn't have to bow his head in front of Niharika.
"Mera he?"
Mine? spluttered."Kyunh? Jab hamari shadi huwi thi us waqt tum ne mujhe meri owqaat batayyee thi. Ab menh milind mishra tum ko apni owqaat batati hunh. Menh Prachi Milind Mishra hunh. Tum mujhe se majboori se jure. Aaj is ghar menh menh majboori se hunh. Rithwick pehle mera beta bana ajeeb haalaat menh. Milly merei zindagi menh pehle ayee marham ban ke. Hanh menh tere bachonh ki maaa hunh. Lekin teri biwi menh us din se nahin hunh jis din se menh is ghar ko choar ke challi gayee. Us waqt hamari shadi aik dhong thi jis menh hum dono ne upne characters sab ke saamne bana rakhe. Ab koi dhong nahin hai. Yeh Prachi Milind Mishra aik dhongi ki zindagi nahin jiyai gi. Har baar ghut ghut kar, thayaag deh deh kar nahin jiyai ghi. Tumhain jo karna hai tum kar sacte ho!"
Why not? When we first got married you told me my place, now Milind Mishra I am telling you your place. I am Prachi Milind Mishra. You married me under duress. I am in this house now under duress. Rithwick became my son first in strange circumstances. Milly came into my life first as a salve. Yes I am the mother of your children, but I haven't been your wife since the day I left this house. Then our marriage was like a play played by actors in front of every one. This Prachi Milind Mishra will not act again. I suffered every time, sacrificed every time, well not any more! Whatever you want to do you can do!
So saying she flounced off into the bathroom to have a good cry and remember the past. She hated doing this. Hiding her feelings was killing her, yet this was the only way she knew where she could keep her heart intact. Having had her heart broken, she knew she didn't have the strength to lick her wounds this time. Prachi still felt the shame and hurt of that fateful day. The day that had totally destroyed their marriage.
Milind had never felt so bereft and alone. He owed so much to her and destroyed so much of her. He did not know what to do, where to turn. He knew there would be no solutions to his problems tonight. The bistra (
bedroll) did not look so inviting, he wondered if she had put rocks in there too. He didn't want to risk it so decided that the sofa would be a better option to remember the past.Ok i know i went too far. next bit may prove to be upsetting for some!
Part 19
please note they have gone into the past.
"Milind menh yeh ghar choar ke jaa rahi hunh is lifafe menh tumhari aik amanat he usse choar kar jaa rahi hunh"
Milind, I'm leaving you and this house. In this envelope there is something for."Hanh tu challi ja. Teri yahan koi zaroorat nahin"
Yes you go. There is no need for you here. He proclaimed. He did not want to shout. He had found the whole episode distasteful. He hadn't been able to stand all the melodrama that had taken place over the last month. He had hated it when Rithwick had been proven to be her child, had hated the thought of Neev being her lover. Her first child should have been theirs but that was never to be. But most of all he had hated the fact that she had lied to him. After Prachi had brought him home from the chawl he had gone straight to the spare bedroom. His heart had hurt so much, there was so much pain inside. His tears had dried and it seemed that they too would never stay faithful to him. He had wanted to punish her, to lash out, yet his love for her had stopped him. A small part of him just wanted to hold her close and forget everything, yet the rational part of him knew she was guilty. He felt alone and wished that he could share his pain with his sister at least.
Rrrrrring! He was brought out of his reverie by the house phone. A sixth sense told him that it was from Sukriti. He rushed to grab the phone.
"Kesi ho Sukriti?"
How are you Sukriti?"Menh theekh hunh bhabhi, aap kesi hain, bhaiyya kesenh hain, our mera bachcha Rithwick kesa hai?"
I'm fine bhabhi. How are you? Hows brother? And hows my son rithwick?Milind stood in shock. His whole body had frozen. An innocent question had ripped open his already battered heart. He couldn't believe what he was hearing. His sister was Rithwick's mother? He was a mama to Alaap's son?
He listened as Prachi reassured his sister, she told her about all his cute little antics. She urged her to tell Saket everything, she was sure he would accept the baby. He heard Sukriti's concern over Alaap getting to the truth. He heard his wife reassure her again. He heard his wife reiterate that everything was fine here. He had heard enough.
He quietly put the receiver down. His wife. His sister. Both had deceived him. If only they had both come to him and asked for help. If only…
He knew what he had to do. Before he confronted Prachi there were matters that had to be dealt with. He headed back to the spare bedroom and started making the necessary phone calls.
After four very long and arduous hours Milind was finally ready to face his wife. He now knew the truth. To protect his sister she had hidden the money that Sukriti had stolen. She had gone to the party to protect his sister rather than relive old moments with Neev. To this date all of Prachi's actions had been to protect his honour, his sister's honour and most of all his father's honour. He was ashamed of himself, he had believed so many lies. Lies that had had the power to destroy his wonderful relationship with his wife.
Milind silently walked towards his bedroom. He heard laughter, he turned to see Ayesha talking to his picture. He went closer. Ayesha laughed maniacally. "Ab tu mera he Milind. Mera aaj Prachi se badla poora ho gaya."
Now your are mine Milind. My revenge on Prachi is complete. She laughed again "Mene ne Prachi se Neev ko cheen liya, tha ke usse apna pyar kabhi na millai, Phir ussi ke pyar ke saamne mene us ka dil jalaya. Our us ne phir tujh se shadi kar li Milind. Mere pyar se. ab to menh usse nahi chornai wali thi. Mene usse tum ko bhi cheen liya Milind kyunh ke Aysha sirf teri he Milind, sirf teri!" I snatched Neev from Prachi, so that she can never get her love. Then I tormented her in front of her lover. Then she married you milind. To my love. Now wasn't going to just let her go. I snatched you away from her milind because Ayesha is yours only yours. For the third time today his heart had been ripped open and torn into several pieces. Prachi had suffered at the hands of Ayesha. He had thought that she had been his friend, but she had turned into a fire breathing vengeful demon. How could she have done that to me? On the one hand there is Prachi who can sacrifice so much for the people she loves and on the other there is Ayesha, A cold, heartless bitch.
He turned away as silently as he could. He did not want Ayesha to come in his way, otherwise God only knew what he would do to her. He opened the door to his room, where it seemed his beautiful wife and child lay sleeping. He quickly locked the door and then came and sat by her on the bed. She did not stir. He noticed her wet pillow, the drying tears on her cheek, her furrowed forehead. Even in sleep she was upset. He let her sleep for he knew that just like him she would not have slept the previous night.
Without daring to wake her he moved to sit on the sofa. He had a lot to think about. He needed to deal with Ayesha and win his wife back. He knew it would be easy to ask for Prachi's forgiveness and she would gladly give it. He didn't want that. He wanted to solve all his wife's problems and then he would grovel for her forgiveness. Ayesha was a different matter. He knew that she had to pay, pay for the crimes that she had committed in the sake of love. His love. He needed a plan and he knew who could help him.
All night he watched her, every time she turned he watched. Every time she patted Rithwick in her sleep, he watched. As the cock crowed outside, he gently touched her cheek, said a silent goodbye and stealthily walked back to the spare bedroom.
Part 20
"Yeh kya hai Milind, Yahan bulanai ka tera kya matlab hai"? What is this Milind? Why have you called me here? Neev was angry, very angry.
Milind didn't say a word. He simply bent his knees in front of Neev, folded his hands and lowered his head.
" Tum yeh kya kar rahe ho?"
What are you doing?
"Maafi maang raha hunh Neev. Menh upne kiyai par bohat sharminda hunh"
I am asking for forgiveness Neev. I am ashamed at what I have done.
"What? The great Milind Mishra Maafi maang raha hai?" What? The great Milind Mishra is asking for forgiveness? He was confused by Milind's actions. A man who until yesterday was out for his blood was now supplicating in front of him! Unwilling to be drawn into this change of heart, he was still curious as to why he was behaving like this.
"Mujhe kal raat ko esi sachayi ka pata chalah he ke is waqt maafi our sharmindagi ke illava mere paas kuch nahin hai."
Last night I found out such a truth that there is nothing left but for me but to apologise and be ashamed.
"Kay pata chala?"
What did you find out?
"Rithwick ki sachai."
The truth about Rithwick
"Our who hai kya Milind? Tujhe pata chal gaya ke menh us ka baap nahin hunh?"
And what is that Milind? You found out that I'm not his father?
"Hanh pata chal gaya. Prachi ne jhoot bolah tha ke menh kissi ki zillat na sahoo."
Yeah I know. Prachi lied to protect me from shame.
"Who kis ka bachcha hai Milind?"
Who's child is he Milind?
"Matt pooch"
Don't ask.
"Kyunh nahin poonchunh. Mera naam Prachi se jura diya gaya. Sab ke saamne aik mazaak ban ke reh gaya hunh menh! sachai rishtai ka mazaak bana diya theri Prachi neh our menh nahin poonchunh? Ahir tu chahta kya he?" Why cant I ask? My name was linked to Prachi in front of everyone. I am a joke for everyone. She turned an honest relationship into a joke and I can't ask? What do you want?
"Teri madat, our aggar tu chahai to dosti bhi." I need your help and if you want then your friendship too. Neev could not stop himself from laughing. He could never imagine a friendship between milind and himself, but he was now intrigued. Why did Milind need his help?
"Utth Milind our seedhe bhol."
Get up Milind and be straight with me
"Mujhe us Ayesha ko sabak sikhana hai. uski waja se hum sab ki zindagiyonh menh zehar ghol chuka hai. Us ne tujhe nahin chorah, tu toh Prachi ka pyar tha lekin Ayesha ka badla esa tha ke wo har khushi Prachi se cheen lena chahti thi. Menh our tu Ayesha ke naachtai huwai ghulam ban kar rahe gayai. I'm sure ke tujhe upni zindagi chahiyay our mujhe meri Prachi. Prachi ne mehaz wohi kiya jo us ke papa ne usse kaha." I need to teach that Ayesha a lesson. She has ruined all our lives. You were Prachi's love but because of Ayesha's revenge she made Prachi miserable by taking you away from her. And then whenever she could she would snatch any happiness from Prachi. We are all merely puppets fro Aysha. I'm sure that you want your life back and I want my Prachi. Prachi only did what her father asked of her.
"Wah milind wah. Jab akal aye tikanai to kesi ayee! Fine menh teri madat karunh ga"
Wow Milind wow. You finally came to your senses. Fine I'll help you.
They spent the whole day plotting a plan. They re hashed and discussed until the setting sun and hunger drove them home. Their plan was simple. Milind would act like an avenging husband, pretend to hate Prachi and insult her in such a way that she would be forced in to telling the truth in front of Ayesha so that it finally put her into place. At the same time Neev would act against Milind so that he could the truth out of Prachi as well as distract Ayesha long enough for Milind to go for the attack.
Milind was very happy with the turn of events and had developed a new respect for Neev. He had been a true friend to Prachi and hopefully would prove the same for him. He regretted his earlier behavior and now knew the value of true love and friendship.
She hated this. Milind never missed an opportunity to belittle and shame her with his caustic comments. Neev and Milind had been at each other throats ever since she had admitted the baby was hers. She knew she was reaching a breaking point where she would confess to all. I know I can't do that to Milind it will completely destroy him. I won't do that to him. Why are you still defending him Prachi this man has all but destroyed you. Belittled you. Treated you worse than the lowliest creature on this earth. No you should leave with Rithwick.
Having made her decision Prachi packed her bags. She showered for one last time. To make her exit convincing enough she removed the distinctive red colour from her maang. Kumkum would never adorn her head now. Dressed in a simple baby pink salwar kameez that her father had given her, she looked in her mirror. She looked naked, as if someone had eliminated the past six months of her life. She fingered the intricately beaded necklace. A necklace that had made her whole, that had made her cherish a relationship that was true and pure. I have to do this. I can't take it anymore. I lied and cheated to save your sister Milind and in return I ruined myself, made you hate me and love Ayesha more. I am tired of taking your abuse, tired of the hatred in your eyes. I just want to lick my wounds in piece. Very slowly and reluctantly Prachi removed her Mangalsutra. She kissed it, this Mangalsutra carries my love for you Milind, it rested by my heart for you. It now belongs to you. She placed it into an envelope. She picked up Rithwick and walked downstairs.
"Milind menh yeh ghar choar ke jaa rahi hunh is lifafe menh tumhari aik amanat he usse choar kar jaa rahi hunh" Milind, I'm leaving you and this house. In this envelope I am returning what belonged to you.
"Hanh tu challi ja. Teri yahan koi zaroorat nahin"
Yeh you go. No one needs you here.
Prachi looked at him and then her assembled relatives. She nodded to everyone, saw the tears in their eyes and her resolve almost broke. She turned away and placed the envelope on the coffee table. She walked towards the door. Please stop me milind please. She pleaded one last time.
"Prachi rukkh" Prachi wait. Strong arms lifted Rithwick from her. In hope she looked into Neev's eyes and was disappointed. How she wished it had been milind stopping her.
"Tu kehti hai nah key yeh bachcha tera our mera hai? Well. Menh upne bachchai ko kahin nahin jaane doonh ga!" You say that this child is yours and mine? Well. I won't let my child go with you! So saying Neev grabbed Rithwick.
"Mujhe mera bachcha wapis de doh Neev. Is ke bina menh nahin ji paonh ghi." Give back my baby Neev. I wont be able to live without him. She fought to get the baby off him. Rithwick started crying. In desperation Prachi scratched Neevs face.
"Ouch! Prachi tum mere bachchai ke saath nahin jaa sacti!"
Ouch ! Prachi you cant go with my child!
Milind watched hoping that now Prachi had reached her breaking point she would tell the truth and oust out Ayesha. It seemed that his wife was made of sterner stuff. He had ridiculed her, abused her in the last few weeks yet nothing had perturbed her. The pain of hurting Prachi had been too much for him, every sinful act he directed at her he did to him self tenfold. She would be horrified to see the bruises on his body.
Prachi felt cornered she couldn't tell him about Sukriti and Alaap. She couldn't. If she left Rithwick here then God only knew how he would be treated.
"Neev bachcha mujhe de do." Neev give me the child. The voice was quiet and commanding. Prachi had never heard this tone from her mother. She looked at her gratefully. Neev reluctantly handed over Rithwick who immediately stopped crying.
"Prachi tum apni marzi se yeh ghar choar ke jaa rahi ho lekin yeh bachcha yahan rahe ga. Neev, Milind our Aysha ki fikar mat karo. Rithwick ko menh sambhal lunh ghi."
Prachi you're leaving this house on your own free will. But this child stays here. Don't worry about Neev, Milind and Ayesha. I will take care of Rithwick.
Damn her mother had offered her a get out clause! Milind swore under his breath, this was not going according to plan!
"Theek hai Maa," OK Maa replied Prachi reluctantly, "mere Rithwick ko sambhal ke rakhna. Isse maa ki kammi mehsoos nahin hone dena." Take care of my Rithwick. Don't let him feel that he has no mother. She hugged and kissed her baby and with a heavy heart walked out of Shah House.
"Prachi! Cried Milind. He ran towards her, but was blocked by Ayesha.
"Ab tu us kebab menh haddi ko kyunh bulah raha hai?"
Now why are you calling the third wheel (sound better in hindi)
"Aysha mujhe jaane de"
Ayesha let me go
"Apna badla bhool ja Milind. Yeh dekh Mere our Neev ke Divorce papers. Sab kuch final ho chukka hai. Dekh na Milind. Yeh sab tere liyai mene kiya hai." Forget your revenge Milind. Look Mine and Neevs divorce papers. Everything has been finalised. I have done this all for you. She clung on to him.
"Chorr mujhe Aysha!" Leave me Ayesha! He screamed as he ran towards the door.
"Milind!"
Where did she go? Milind looked at the crowded street in confusion. He couldn't see his Prachi anywhere. He asked the security guard who said she caught a taxi towards the airport. She had left him!
"Milind Menh us tharaf jaata hunh tu airport ki tharaf ja." Milind I'll go that way and you go towards the airport. He was brought out of his shocked state by Neev. He nodded and got into his car and gave chase.
They searched for her everywhere. Milind called in investigators to find his wife but to no avail. She was gone.
Part 21
"Mummy uttho na get up, mummy!" Cried two very small voices.
"Kya? sone do na!" What? Let me sleep. Replied a groggy Prachi. She knew full well that Milly had now recruited her brother in this early Sunday morning ritual. Milly had a habit of waking up at 6 o'clock every morning, she was her alarm clock but Prachi wished that just this Sunday she could have a lie in. she had had the worst possible night, Milind had slept on the sofa, a sofa which was conveniently placed at such a point where she could make out every nuance of him. She had at one point in the night become mesmerised by his steady breaths!
"Kya?! Kya huwa? Koan Chillaya?" What? What happened? Who screamed? A perturbed Milind who had just about been able to sleep on the sofa was now alert and ready to …to…
He watched as his children gawped at the sight of his boxers. Getting up from the sofa he tried to look as commanding as he could. He put both hands on his waist and gave them his most menacing look. A look that could make many quake in their boots, seemed to have no effect on them. He flicked his gaze to Prachi who still had her eyes closed. How could she sleep through this racket? His confused look sent raptures of delight rippling through his children; they promptly started jumping up and down the bed!
"Yeh kya masti hai?" What is this? He roared. They giggled even more!
"Mummy daddy sofa pe kyunh soye?" Mummy why did daddy sleep on the sofa? Asked a jumping Rithwick.
"Menh so rahi hunh." I'm sleeping. Came the reply. She did not want to answer their innocent question.
Oh… so this was a game, a game that Prachi had obviously played before. He watched and waited to see what she would do next.
"Mummyyyyyy!"
"Bed toot jaye ga bacha". The bed will break child She whimpered.
"Daddy our laah denh geh, wese bhi hum theen to daddy jitne motai nahin hai. Just imagine aggar wo is waqt aa kar humare saath jumps karenh ge to kya ho ga?!" Daddy will buy another. As it is we three are not as as fat as daddy. Just imagine if he came and started jumping with us! They laughed uproariously at their own wit.
Hmm idea burah nahin hai, wah re mere shaitaan bacho kya idea diya he apne baap ko! Hmm the ideas isn't bad. Wow my little miscreants, you've given a brilliant idea to your father. Milind slowly made his way to the bed. He saw Prachi peeping through the covers. She wasn't sure whether he would do it. He came closer and closer. She closed her eyes shut. Her breath became ragged. .
She couldn't stand it any longer. The sight of Milind in boxers had her drooling. His strong leg muscles rippled as he slowly made his way to the bed. His small amount of chest hair curled just above his six pack. She squeezed her eyes shut. Her breathing quickened and shivers went through her spine. She could sense him staring at her. Very slowly, she opened her eyes.
"Chalo mere do unmol ratan, naha lo". Come my little darlings have a bath. He grabbed each child around the waist and lifted them both simultaneously. Prachi's heart missed a beat. I wish he could carry me like that, Shut up Prachi you are immune, Remember that!
The look on her face had been priceless. He grinned at the memory; he knew she wasn't as immune to him as she made out. He knew he would have to think of a plan of action very soon.
Part 22
Please note that the advice given in this chapter was researched and is given to couples. unlike KYM i do do my research and get my facts right!
"Tu mera mushwara maang raha hai? Our wo bhi larrikiyonh ke barai main? Tujhe ho kya gaya hai Milind? Tere liyai aik Prachi kafi nahin hai?" You're asking for my advice? And that about girls? What happened to Milind is Prachi not enough? Asked Neev, it had become increasingly difficult to deal with this incoherent Milind. He was happy that Prachi was home, but it was nothing compared to Milind! His silly grin was beginning to irritate Neev. He couldn't seem to concentrate on work since her return two days ago. It also seemed as if he hadn't slept properly for days.
Milind merely looked at him.
"Ok, ok menh serious ho jaata hunh. Aggar menh is baat par goar famaon to mujhe lagta he ke… tujhe yaad he wo Pinky?" Ok, ok I'll get serious. If I concentrate hard enough, I think that you should…do you remember Pinky?
"Wo bubble gum wali? Wohi jo chubah kar bahar nikaal upni ungli se twist kar ke wapis upne munh menh daalti thi? Yaar Pinky meri madat kese karegi?" the bubble gum chewer? The one who chewed gum then twisted it around her finger and then stuck it back into her mouth? Mate how can Pinky help me?
"Arre sun to, humara affair 3 mahinai chalah tha"
Just listen will you. Our relationship lasted three months.
"Hanh yaad he, mujhe lagta tha aik din tu us ki ungli zaroor kaat deh gah."
Yeah, I remember, I thought that you would definitely cut that finger off one day.
"Well, wo aik baar mujhe marriege counselling leh gayee thi!"
Well she took me to marriage counselling once.
Milind roared with laughter. The thought of Neev sitting in a marriage counselling session was absolutely ludicrous!
"Tu neh mujhe kabhi bataya nahin"
You never said
"Yes well, aik mard ko apni mardaanghi bachcha ke rakhni parti hai. Anyway us counsellor neh ese hi baatonh baatonh menh bataya tha ke aggar jhagra chal raha ho to partner ke saath behas karne ke bajai us ke hanh menh haami dalo, is se partner doubt karta hai." Yes well, a man has to protect his honour. Anyway that counsellor once said that if you are arguing then you shouldn't argue back. Instead you should agree with your parner on every thing. This way your partner's mind fills with doubt.
"Menh tera matlab nahin samjha"
I don't get it
"Kabhi bhaloo ko aik sexy aadmi ki baat samaj ayee he kya? Dekh aggar Prachi din ko kahe raat to phir tu bhi kahe raat. Hala ke who jaanti he ke din hai. Phir jab us ke mann menh doubts aa jain to ahista ahista usse thori thori baat kar ke behla ke pusla ke wapis apni bana lena."Can an ape ever understand a sexy guy like me? Look if Prachi says it's day even if it's night, then agree with her. Then when she is riddled with doubts, go for the attack and make her yours.
Hmm. He knew exactly how he would start.
Part 23
"Kahan jaa rahi ho Prachi?" Where are you going Prachi?
"Tum se matlab?" Whats it to you?
"Mene bas esai hi poocha." I just wanted to ask that's all.
"Mr Milind Mishra har aam aadmi Monday ke din kaam pe jaata hai. Shaid tum bhi jao?" Mr Milind Mishra any normal person usually goes to work on a Monday. Maybe you will go too?
She didn't look dressed for the office. She was wearing one of her old saris again. This time, a simple blue one that had seen better days. Milind frowned he need to buy some clothes for his wife. Come to think of it she hadn't arrived with very much on Friday. Wouldn't it be a great idea to go on a shopping trip tonight with the kids? He slowly brought his attention back to the conversation, reluctantly letting go of the fantasies spinning in his mind.
"Lekin tu Milly ko saath kyunh le kar jaa rahi ho?" But why are you taking Milly with you?
"Milind humara ghar badla hai. Lekin humari routine nahin badli." Milind our home has changed but that doesn't mean that our routine has changed too.
"Of course, mujhe yaad aya Milly nursery menh hai right? Acha idea hai. Neev tho subah Rithwick ko chortha hai so tum us ki fikar nahin karna. Unka bonding time hai." Of course I remembered you have a nursery at work. It's a good idea. Neev drops off Rithwick in the morings, so don't you worry about him. It's their bonding time you see.
Prachi merely grunted and walked out of their opulent bedroom to find Milly. She was confused by his behaviour. All weekend he had been charm personified. He had agreed with everything she said and had often second guessed her too. It was very frustrating fighting with a man who kept agreeing with you!
"Milly. Aap ready ho?" Milly are you ready? Milly had dressed her self it seemed. Her baby was growing up. She had even tried to do her hair…badly.
"Hanh mummy papa ne meri pony tail bandhi." Yes mummy papa tied up my pony tail. She replied as she hugged her mother.
"What?!!" She laughed. The thought of milind doing such a thing was preposterous. Her uncontrollable laughter was a delight for Milly. Yessss! Mummy's laughing properly. Thank you daddy. Milly knew that her mummy was very happy now that she was with daddy and Ridvi bhai. She was alittle bit worried as to why her parents weren't sleeping in the same bed like all her friends' parents. She had talked about it with Ridvi bhaiyya who was thinking of a plan already.
"Ok ab chalo" Ok let go. Prachi had finally managed to get herself under control.
After dropping off Milly in the nursery. Prachi headed to her cabin. She kept a spare set of clothes there for emergencies. There was no way that she could conduct business deals in a frilly sari. A sari that had been bought by Milind a long time ago. I wonder if he remembered why he had bought it for me? Yet again she chided herself on her musings. She knew she had a lot of work to do today. Particularly on this milind deal. Seeing Sur she smiled. Her friend and secretary was a blessing in disguise.
"Sur. Good morning. Thankyou for Friday."
"It was a pleasure. That lovely hunk of a man that came to collect Milly made my day!" Replied the bubbly Sur.
"Hmmph". She grunted sab milind ki thareef ke pul baandh rahe hain. Everyone likes to compliment darling Milind!
"Get me the Shermish file Sur. We have a lot of work to do today. Schedule a meeting with them for around 2 pm. Make sure it's a two hour meeting. Book the conference room and get our chief lawyer for it too. I want you taking the minutes. I don't want any mishaps with this one."
Prachi pored over file after file. She worked like a demon trying to erase the memories of the weekend. Seeing her husband in minimal clothing had awakened long buried memories. Memories that still made her spine tingle. She didn't need them but they haunted her all morning. After having lunch with Milly she returned to find Milind and Neev waiting in the conference room.
"Has Mr Patel arrived sur?"
"Yes he just came in." Sur and Prachi walked in together. There was a concerned look on her face. On further questioning she opened up to Prachi.
"Prachi, these people they're…"
"I know Sur. The hunk is my husband and the other is his friend and partner Neev."
"I was talking about Neev. He's the hunk! Sur laughed impishly! Prachi merely smiled and walked towards another battle.
"Good afternoon gentlemen. I take it you have met Mr Patel, our chief lawyer. This is my secretary Sur. Now let get on with business."
She had changed from the Sari she had left with into a cream coloured business suit and a shocking pink shirt. He wasn't too sure of her displaying her legs like that for the men of this company and Neev. Jealous milind? Remember hanh menh haami (agree with her). Otherwise you fail your ultimate goal. He had to admit that she did look very sexy. He wondered how well she would be able to conduct this meeting. The old Prachi would have sat there meekly not said a word and then he would have got his own way. With this new Prachi he wasn't so sure. Wait and watch milind. No jaldbaazi (impatience). Don't lose your temper. Let's act like it's real business.
Prachi settled her self down and put her notes in front of her. With a pen ready she began.
He was impressed. Her subject knowledge was immense. She wasn't using any guiles to get what she wanted. He noticed that as she talked there was no hesitancy. She was very forthright. She reminded him of Milind. Neev smiled, knowing that these would be very easy negotiations.
"I agree with everything you are saying Prachi. Neev do you agree?" Milind looked at each person, gauging their reactions to his decision. The opposition was clearly surprised, he smiled at them.
"I do. Shall we wrap this up now? We will buy this company for the asking price; we won't make any redundancies, etc etc. I hope that this is to your satisfaction?
Prachi looked at Mr Patel. He was perplexed at how easily this company had agreed on all of Ms Mishra's demands. She gave him a quiet nod.
"Then its agreed. Mr Patel will draw up the necessary paperwork. I'll contact Mr Kapoor and then sign the documents. Once that is done Sur will fax over the account details for you to transfer the money."
She nodded and shook hands with Neev, hesitating slightly she shook Milind's hand and gasped. Desperately trying to cover herself she quickly murmured " pins and needles". Milind merely smiled.
Prachi was confused. Milind had agreed to every one of their terms. Milind and Neev were known for their ruthlessness. Yet in this meeting they were so… so like mice! She knew something wasn't quite right. Her instinct was telling her to be aware. She turned to go.
"Prachi, aik minute" Prachi, one moment
"Kya Milind?" What Milind?
"Menh Milly ko ghar leh jaon?" Can I take Milly home?
"Yes of course. wesai bhi menh derr se aon ghi so behtar ho ga agar wo tumhare saath challi jaye." I'll be late so it's best if she goes home with you. His request surprised her.
"Itni derr thak kaam karma achi baat nahin. Har insaan ko aik work-life balance ki zaroorat hoti hai." It's not good to work late. Everyone needs a work-life balance.
"Kis ne kaha ke menh kaam derr se karunh ghi?"
Who said I will be working late?
So saying she flounced off in the direction of her cabin.
Part 24
It's nearly 8 o'clock! Where could she be?
"Papa book parhiyay na. baar baar ghari ko kyunh dekh rahain hain?" Papa read the book please. Why do you keep looking at the clock? Asked an irritated yet sleep Rithwick.
"Sorry", replied Milind. He was getting worried. He had no idea where Prachi was. He was absolutely terrified that something had happened to her.
"Ridvi bhaiyya papa pareshan hain." Ridvi bhaiyya papa's perturbed. Chirped Milly.
"Lekin kyunh?" But why? Replied her confused brother. Milind merely listened hoping that she would arrive any minute. He knew she would not miss tucking her children into bed.
"Honestly! Men! Mummy aa jaye gi. Lekin papa pareshan he ke itna time kyunh laga rahi hain. In ko yeh nahin pata ke aaj mummy ka special day hai. Mummy will come. So papa is perturbed as to why she hasn't arrived yet. He doesn't know that it's mummy's special day.
"Special day?" Milind was intrigued.
"Hi bachcho! Sorry, sorry menh late ho gayee!" Hi kids! Sorry, sorry I'm late! An apologetic Prachi stood at the door wearing the most unfashionable skin tight jeans with a lot of holes. They were paint spattered and she stunk like a petrol station! She quickly walked over and sat herself on the bed.
"Mummy aap ka project complete ho gaya?" Mummy did you complete your project? Asked Rithwick. What project is this he wondered? Why doesn't anyone tell me anything? Why do I have to be constantly confused? He was dying to ask her what she had been doing. He didn't want a scene in front of the children so decided to keep quiet.
"Ab thora sa reh gaya he so menh usse saath leh aayee. Kal school se pehle menh aap ko dikhaon ghi." There's just alittle bit left now so I brought it with me. Tomorrow before school you'll get to see it. She smiled at her children, knowing the pleasure that they would feel tomorrow morning. She glanced at milind, confused by his quiet. The old Milind would have asked her by now. She really wanted him to ask just so that she could shut him up again. He looked cute, nestled between his children on the bed. She kissed Rithwick and wished him good night. Milly was another matter, nestled in the crook of her father's arm on the other side of the bed she had to lean over and kiss her.
Her smell was overpowering him. He was ready to throw up until he noticed how low-cut her top was. He took a good look savouring the rounded swell of her chest. They seemed bigger than before. He wondered why that was.
Prachi was glad she had accidentally doused her self in turpentine. She used it to clean her brushes but she had become so distracted that she had spilt a lot of it on herself. The look that Milind had given her had been priceless; the smell had really disgusted him! She couldn't help but smile impishly. "Goodnight Milind".
Milind sighed with relief his eyes and nose had had a lot to bear. He felt like a saint. A stinky wife with a lovely chest was something that only he could love! He thought it would be best if he slept with his children tonight. His nose had had too much to take.
Prachi made her way to her mother's room. "Thank you maa."
"Kis liyai beta?" What for child? Premlata smiled at her eldest daughter.
Aap ne mujhe papa ka studio kholne ki ijazat di thi is liyai. Aap mere saath ayenh mujhe aap ko kuch dikhana hai. You gave me permission to open up Papa's studio. Come with me, I want to show you something.
Premlata had been slightly confused at her daughter's request this morning. She wanted to use her father's studio which had been locked since his death. She had spent the whole morning having it cleaned. When Prachi had arrived home three hours ago she had brought a truck load of paintings with her. She hoped that her daughter would be showing her some of Inder's work.
Prachi handed over a pooja thali (prayer tray) to her mother and asked her to break the coconut at the door before entering. Premlata was thoroughly confused. Why would Prachi ask her to do such a pooja (prayer)?
"Maa papa ne mujhe chori chori se sikhaya tha." Maa papa taught me secretly.
She opened the door to reveal her paintings. Her mother slowly walked into the room and stared in awe at the beautiful work before her. She looked at her daughter and gave her the biggest hug possible.
Mujhe nahin pata tha ke meri beti itni talented hai. I didn't know my daughter was so talented. She was suddenly distracted by a very large painting.
"Kesi laggi maa?" What do you think maa?
"Bohat achi" Its really good.
"Menh soch rahi thi ke aaj raat is ko hall menh laga dunh." I thought that I should put it up in the hall tonight.
"Hanh beta laga deh. Mera aaj dil bohat hush he." Yes child, put it up. Today I am very happy. She gave another warm hearted hug to her daughter and called Ramu kaka to help Prachi.
"Papa jaldi aao!" Papa come quickly.
"Gerhh." Woken by a screaming Rithwick was not an ideal situation. It was 6 o'clock in the morning for god's sake! He couldn't wait until his children were teenagers at least he would get to sleep for a few more hours. "Papa!" Screamed, Rithwick again. He made a leap from the bed and ran towards his screaming son.
"Milind kamaskum kapre to pehan liya kar!" Milind at least wear some clothes!
"Baba Rithwick." He looked at his father anxiously.
Wo intezaar kar sacta he usse kuch nahin huwa. Pehle jaa kar kapre pehan le. Yeh achi baat nahin hai ke tu upne boxers menh ghoomai. Ab ja besharam kahin ka! He can wait, nothings happened to him. First go and put some clothes on. It not good for you to be wondering around in boxers. Now go you without modesty person (sorry that last sentence was awful!)!
Milind ran towards his bedroom and promptly collided with Prachi. Thank god she didn't stink anymore. She was, however wearing lovely set of Tom and Jerry pyjamas. He raised his eyebrow in query.
"Birthday present. Milly se." She looked uncomfortable. Shite! He wasn't wearing any clothes. He rushed into his room and quickly put on the first kurta that came into his hands. He could feel Prachi staring at him; he looked to see her smiling.
"Kurta ulta pehna hai aap ne." The kurta's the wrong way round.
"Rithwick bulah raha hai. Urgent hai." Rithwick's calling. It's urgent.
"Rithwick masti ka ustaad hai". Rithwick is the king of pranksters.
"Oh." He felt deflated, his own son playing pranks. He shook his head and smiled. Prachi smiled back. She had called him aap! This was the first time she had called him aap in a long time. It felt good.
!Papa!! Ao jaldi." Come quick. Screamed Milly as she entered their room. "Mummy it's beautiful". She kissed her mother in appreciation.
Milind was intrigued. What could be so beautiful that had excited both of his children? As Milly dragged him towards the hall he gave one last look to Prachi. Her face was devoid of any emotion. She was tense about something. Her look said it all.
"Dekhiyai papa." Look papa
Milind looked at where his daughter was pointing. A very large picture hung in the hallway. Milind was gob smacked. It was a picture of Milly and Rithwick play fighting with him. The laughter and the enjoyment had been captured so well. His love for his children was clearly evident. He took a closer look wondering when this picture had been taken. On closer inspection he discovered that it had been painted. He looked for a signature in the bottom right hand corner, but couldn't find one. He wondered who could have painted such a masterpiece.
"Mummy ne banai!" Mummy made it. Answered, his daughter.
"Kya? Really?" What really? He looked at Prachi for confirmation. Her slight nod was all that he needed. He was speechless. There were no words to describe how he felt. He merely stared at her.
Baba looked at his son, a small smile playing on his face. He had seen his son and daughter-in-law suffer at Ayesha hands. He had seen the love in Milind's eyes for Prachi. Yet this emotion was so raw, so full of love for his wife and children. He hoped that Prachi could also see his love.
Prachi saw the emotion in his eyes. The awe, the love that she had for his children was mirrored in his eyes. She also saw something that she hadn't expected to see. Love for her. A love that she thought she had lost. She stared at him as he slowly made his way towards her. He caressed her face, kissed her on the cheek and picked her up.
Part 25
He carefully placed her on the bed. Planting a quick kiss on her lips he removed a black beaded necklace from the bedside table. Without a word he, he hooked the precious beads around her neck.
"Aap mujhe se pyar karte hain, You love me." She stated simply, whilst fingering the old friend that adorned her neck.
"Yes. I have loved you before I even knew the real you. Loved you without knowing it myself. Loved you more every time you sacrificed yourself for me.
" Mene aisa kuch nahin kiya. Mene jhoot bola, dohkha diya. Mujhe aap se kuch nahin chupana chahiyai tha." I didn't do anything of the sort. I lied to you, cheated you, I should never have hidden anything from you.
"You did it to protect my sister. For that I will always be grateful. The last few days before you left were a torture for me. The abuse I hurled at you, everything I did. I was trying to get you to open up to me. I felt so hurt that you couldn't trust me. I even asked Neev to help me."
"You knew? I walked away from you because I thought you didn't love me." The joy and elation that she felt at this moment was incredible. Her milind had always loved her.
"Now I have my Prachi back. The old Prachi is back."
"Not quite Milind. This Prachi has changed a lot. She isn't a weak little mouse anymore!"
"I know! Sorry. I meant we can start afresh me and you. What do you say? Seee I'm asking you. Last time I told you! This is only because you are so scary!" he joked.
"I am so not scary!"
"Oh yeah? I still have bruises in places that you would be scared to look!"
"Oh I doubt that one Milind!" She giggled coquettishly, whilst staring at his beautiful frame.
"Prachi. Besharam! Ab menh tum ko maza chakata hunh!" Prachi you tease! I'll get you back!
"To menh ne kab rokha hai aap ko? So? I'm not stopping you! She laughed at his perplexed expression. "Yahan aye! Come here!"
It was some hours later that Prachi and Milind emerged out of their bedroom. Premlata looked up from her pooja to finally see a happy couple holding hands. As they slowly made their way towards her she grabbed the thali and came towards them.
"Beta Mangalsutra se bari cheez aik ourat ke liyai us ke pati ka pyar our wiskwaas hota hai. Aaj tum dono ke beech ye hai. Ab issai kabhi nahin thorna. Child a Mangalsutra is nothing compared to the love and trust her husband has for her. You now have this between you. Never let this go.
So saying she did their aarti and quietly gave them her blessings.
Part 26
"What the hell is going on?!"
"Yeh sab kya hai. Rithwick tu ne mera sara dress haraab kar diya! Idhar aa!" What is all this? Rithwick you've ruined my dress. Come here!
Rithwick stared at his masi she was drenched in pink colouring. He had tried to aim it at Neev Chacho but he had moved too quickly.
"Sorry Masi," He replied sheepishly.
"Sorry masi ke bachche. Yahan aa tujhe maza chakati hunh." You little miscreant let me teach you a lesson
Neev knew Ayesha was about to do something stupid. He ran and caught her just in time.
"Ayesha. Meri jaan!" My love He cried. "Kahan thi tu? Tujhe pata he tera bhootni jesa chehra me ne kab se nahin dekha?" where were you? He stood between them. There was no way that she would hurt him now. He signalled for Rithwick to run. Wese tere liyai aik surprise hai!"by the way there is a surprise for you
"Surprise? Tujhe pata hai mujhe surprises ka koi shoak nahin hai to yeh phir kya hai?" You know I hate surprises so what is all this?
"Wo to tumhain Milind hi bataye ga! Milind will tell you. All the best Ayyyeeeesha." He said as he sped off to make another target for Holi.
Yeh kesi surprise he jo milind mujhe bataye ga? Kahin wo mujhe se shadi karne ke liyai thayaar to nahin ho gaya? What sort of surprise has Milind planned? Maybe he's finally ready to marry me? With mounting jubilaition she entered the main courtyard. Every step was bringing her close to Milind. Every…
"Eeeh! Phir sai!"not again! She was drenched again. This time in a hideous blue colour
"Sorry", cried an angelic voice as she quickly ran past.
Is poorai ghar menh bachchon ki baaraat koan le ke aa gaya? Aik to Rithwick ke dost bhi na. is ki jab maa banoo ghi to seedhai boarding bhejunh gi! Sab shiarain banai menh lagai huwai hain. This whole house has turned into a kids menagerie. Rithwick friends, hunh! When I'm his mother, I'll send him straight to boarding school. That'll settle his craftiness. She could hear his laughter emanating from the balcony. He was drenched in so many different colours that his kurta had turned a mud brown colour. He looked so lovely and earthy. He was busy talking to someone. She couldn't see their face.
"Tu ne mera sara kurta haraab kar diya Prachi!" you've completely ruined my shirt.
"To?" so?she made a face at him.
"To? Tu mujhe TO keh rahi hai? Tu upne aap ko jaansi ki raani samjti hai." So? You're saying SO to me? He stared at the vision in front of him. His Prachi had worn a simple salwaar kameez this morning. Their water fights had left them both completely drenched. They had both been ordered by baba to put on a clean set of clothes before they caught a chill. Milind hadn't needed an excuse to drag his wife away. He knew the children were safe playing outside. Neev was keeping an eye on them.
"Hanh menh aap ko TO keh rahi hunh! Kya kar lenh ge aap?" yeah I'm saying SO to you. What are ya gonna do about it?
Milind gave her a 'don't mess with me' look. She knew what the look meant, was supposed to calm down with that look. She burst out laughing.
"Aggar aap mujhe bhang pilai gai to esa hi ho ga na?" If your going to make me drink weed, then obviously I'll be like this!
"Me neh tujhe nahin pillai. Neev ne pillai thi our tu ussai ghataghat pi bhi gayee!" I didn't make you drink it. Neev made you and you, you enjoyed every last drop of it! He couldn't help himself by laughing at her antics.
"Ab menh pata hai kya karunh ga?" now do you know what I'm going to do?
"Kya?" what?
He came ever closer to her sitting form. "Tujhe nehlaon ga." Bathe you
"Kya!!!! Nahin Milind dekho menh hosh menh hunh ab neechai chalo nah!" What!!! No Milind look, I'm completely sober, now lets go down. She hiccuped
"Hanh hanh chalta hunh. Pehle kapre badalne menh madat to kar lo. Hud pehan liyai ab mujhe bhi to pehnao!" yes yes, I'm coming, at least help me get dressed. You're dressed now get me dressed!
Prachi started to take slow deliberate steps. Just the way Milind had expected her to take. She slowly undid his buttons, moved her hands to his sides, making sure she touched as much flesh as possible she slowly pulled up his kurta.
He couldn't believe his Prachi had turned into a sexy siren. The last month had been blissful to say the least. Prachi and Milind had finalised on the paperwork and Guarav Kapoor had flown into sign the papers. He had wanted to gift the company to her but she refused on the grounds that she wanted to paint more. She was due to showcase her work very soon in a local gallery. He only hoped that she wouldn't submit her recent picture, a formal portrait of them both in traditional wear. She had made him so that she was seated and he was standing behind her. It was a beautiful portrait, except for the fact that she had painted them both with their tongues out!
Rithwick was much calmer at school. His teachers were astounded at the change in his behaviour. The attention that his mother lavished on him was doing wonders for his confidence. Neev and he had both been jealous of the time Rithwick spent with Prachi in her studio. She had really helped him with his art work, and to raise his confidence she had made a gallery of his work along the first floor corridors.
He had also finally gotten Milly into a dress. She had kicked and screamed and refused until Neev stepped in and charmed her into wearing it. He was very close to Milly, she had made him realise that the love of a daughter was a fatheer's most prized possession. He was incredibly proud of how Prachi had raised an independent and self reliant young girl.
Neev had found his happiness too. In the form of the wily Sur, Neev had finally found his match. She was flirtatious and funny and definitely gave Neev the run around. He knew his friend was finally happy.
He was brought back from his musings by a tickling sensation. Prachi's sexy ministrations had brought on her bhang filled giggles and she had started to tickle him!
"Prachi nahin karo." Prachi don't. He laughed. Please stop. Prachi! He gasped. He grabbed her arms and pulled her close. Their laughter stopped as they gazed into each others' eyes…
Muah! She kissed him! On the lips! He immediately let go and headed for the balcony.
"Me nichai jaa rahi hunh. Milind aap aa jaana. Mene abhi thak Neev se badla nahin liya. I think pink will suit him na?" I'm going down. You come soon. I still havn't paid Neev back. I think pink will suit him na?
"Hanh lekin tu balcony se kese jaye ghi. Prachi hey!"yes but how are you going by the balcony? Prachi hey! He screamed. Prachi had climbed over the balcony and had started to go down the climbing frame of the Ivy that hung so tightly to the wall. His whole body grew tense at the thought of losing her. Every foothold she took was agony until she reached the bottom.
"Kuch nahin hota ji.nothing happens luv" She calmly replied. "Aap stairs se neechai aa jana," you go down the stairs. she cried with laughter as she sped off. He sighed with relief.
"Milind"
He turned around to see Ayesha.
"Ayesha tum?" Ayesha you?
"Hanh menh. Ab bata meri surprise kahan hai?" yes me, now where's my surprise?
"Surprise?" He replied bemusedly.
"Hanh us Neev ne kaha tha mujhe." Yes that Neev told me.
Milind grew pensive. He knew that Prachi and Ayesha would collide at some point and that there would be fireworks. He hadn't prepared Prachi to deal with them meeting but he knew that as ever she would rise for the occasion.
"Chal menh tujhe dikhata hunh." Come I'll show you. He led her down the back stairs; he didn't want her to see Prachi's artwork. He stopped her on the patio and made her face the Holi scene taking place in front of them. Is Holi menh do naye chehre hain. In this Holii there are two new faces. Can you spot them?
"Milind yeh kya mazaak hai?" Milind is this a joke? She was confused. This wasn't Milind's style at all.
"Mazaak nahin yeh to teri surprise ki shuruvaat hai." This is no joke, this is merely the beginning. He replied in a very quiet voice. "Ab bata na." Now tell me
Ayesha gazed around the chaotic scene, she noted that Neev was messing around with Rithwick and a smaller child. "Wo bachchi Neev ke saath who naya hai. Us ne pehle mere upar blue rang dala tha." That girl with Neev, I've never seen her before. She doused me with blue water.
"Hmm. Our koi nazar aya?" Hmm. Can you spot anyone else? He asked politely.
Yeh milind bhi na! is ki games nirali hi hain. Seedhai batanai ki is ki aadat us Prachi ke saath challi gayee. Ab yeh…This Milind! His games are weird. He used to be direct, but since Prachi left, it looks like he his directness left too. And now… Her thought processes stopped. She closed her eyes and opened them. She couldn't quite believe it. There in front of her stood a smiling Prachi!
