A few weeks had passed neither Prachi or Milind had rang each other feeling unsure where they actual stood. Milind had been tempted to call Prachi one day just to talk and see how she was doing but then he backed out thinking that Prachi may not appreciate the gesture. When Milind received an invitation to attend Ayesha and Neev's wedding reception which they had decided to have after their honeymoon in order to prolong their celebration Milind knew it would be a good opportunity to talk to Prachi.
Milind had dressed in a smart yet slightly casual black suit and was attending the grand affair with his father and sister at the Shergill Residence. As Milind arrived the party was in full swing the music blaring and people dancing. He approached Ayesha and Neev to congratulate them then scanned the room for Prachi. "Who are you looking for?" Ayesha asked observing Milind's peculiar behaviour. "No-one," Milind replied. "Ok well enjoy the party and I'll chat to you after greeting all the guests" Ayesha said still unconvinced by Milind's words, she definitely knew that Milind's eyes were desperately searching for someone but who? Milind walked around awhile however his search was unsuccessful but then he spotted Prachi hiding away in corner on her own. Milind quickly made his way over to her then told her to come out to the gardens with him.
"Milind what you doing? The party's inside why are you out here?" Prachi asked while laughing at Milind's odd behaviour. "Prachi I know that you hate such loud, crowded and big affairs so I saved you. You should be thanking me," Milind laughed while Prachi was touched that Milind had remembered that from the evening they spent together. "More liked you saved yourself you don't like parties as well. I'm just your excuse," Prachi wittily replied back. Milind and Prachi slowly walked over to the bench in the gardens and took a seat. "So..." Milind tried to think of something to say but his mind went blank, "...how have you been?" "Good thanks and you?" Prachi replied plainly. "Good as well...So haven't heard from you since that day," "Yea I didn't know whether I should call you or not." "Me too...I was really going to call you one day but then backed out." Milind confessed. "You should have called." "I know but I just didn't know where we stood if you know what I mean." "I understand after all we only met first the time at the wedding. I had such a good time just talking to you and I really consider you a friend. It's so easy to talk to you." "Prachi don't you think it's weird. Me and you became friends at once it's liked I've known you for ages. People say that friendship develops slowly with time but with us it happened in an instant." "Yea but what we were going through just pushed us together gave us a better understanding of each other. Normally I would have not confided in a stranger but with you it was different. We were both feeling lonely and needed friendship that we found in each other." Prachi made sense of the situation. "You are right that day I need found a friend in you that I may have never found if it had not been for the circumstances at least something good came out of it." Milind laughed trying act like he had completely moved on.
Milind and Prachi continued to talk away as everyone partied inside. Ayesha had been searching for Milind for ages as she hadn't spoken to him properly yet however Ayesha could not find him anywhere. Ayesha thought maybe Milind had wandered outside so she walked to the gardens to see if this was true. As she stood the edge of the garden she spotted Milind sitting on the bench talking to someone. As she walked closer she realised it was no-one else but Prachi. She looked at the pair of them for a while observing how relaxed they were each other and talking so freely. A smile formed on Ayesha's lips realising that it was Prachi that Milind was searching for earlier. She was happy to know that Milind and Prachi had become friends, also that the gap that she and Neev left in their lives was filled. After marriage Ayesha and Neev could not spend as much as they did with their best friends so Ayesha was content with this new found friendship between Milind and Prachi. Ayesha returned to party to share the news with Neev who was equally happy knowing that Prachi will not miss his absence that much.
"Can I ask you for your help?" Milind asked Prachi scanning her face carefully to see if she minded. "Of course what help do you need?" "Well there is this house I want to buy for Baba and Sukruti, so they can have a more comfortable life. I did send money to them when I was away so they could move out of the chawl but it really isn't home. So will you come have a look at the house with me? If it's good will you help decorate it and turn it into a proper home?" Milind asked looking into Prachi's eyes anxiously awaiting her answer. "Why are looking at me like that I will definitely help you after what use are friends when they can't help another friend out. So when are we going to see this house?" Prachi said smiling. "Tomorrow I'll pick you up at your house at 10ish. I didn't know if you would say yes seen as you are an interior designer for Shah Hotels and well my house will be no hotel. Anyways do you think we should go back inside?"
"Yea we should or people will start asking where we are. Hopefully it's not as crowded in there as before." Prachi said expressing her reluctance to go back into the party, they both got up to once again join the party.
Milind arrived the next day at Prachi's house then took her to his prospective new house which was situated on the suburbs of the city. The house itself was a true family house with a spacious interior. As the agent showed Milind and Prachi around they were thoroughly impressed and with the approval of Prachi, Milind immediately purchased the house. After the appointment at the house Milind decided to take Prachi to a coffee shop to discuss matters further. Prachi had already thought of ideas for the house and seemed very excited about her new project. "I was thinking of a very simple decor with all rooms with warm neutral colours which will give it a cosy yet elegant feel. Also that empty room downstairs would make a great prayer for Baba. What do you think?" "Yea that sounds really good and Baba will love a prayer room. What about Sukruti's room?" "Well a very feminine room with a large wardrobe for her clothes, a desk in the corner to do her work and some cosy sofas by the window where she hang out with her friends." Prachi looked at Milind to see what he thought. "Wow she will really love that. You have already given so much thought and I can't just about remember the place." Milind laughed. "I can remember everything and I can't wait to start. It's weird I've never been so excited about a project before. Have you any ideas or things you want?"
"Umm...not really you're the interior expert and I trust you fully. However I was thinking maybe like study for to work in?" Milind said with full faith in Prachi. "No way home is where is you relax and spend time with the family. What's the point of coming just to do more work? There is no sense in that, so as your interior expert I say no." Prachi said in firmly. Milind sat amused at Prachi's animated refusal of his suggestion. "Why are looking at me like that?" Prachi asked innocently feeling a little uncomfortable by Milind's long stare. "Baba would be so happy to meet you; he is always going on about keeping my work at work. Actually you know my family pretty well like the prayer room for Baba and Sukruti's room it's spot on." "Obviously I know your family, I remember Baba from when I was younger and the rest you filled me on that day at the beach. I know their likes, dislikes and stories. I bet you know my family pretty well too as I went on and on about them." "Yea you do love your family a lot, don't you?" "Just like you. What is life without the love of your family and I would do anything to make my family happy no matter how much pain it caused me as they mean the world to me." Milind was touched by the love Prachi had for her family and he also shared the same feeling, family was everything. "Prachi I have met up with you three times in total and it's feels I know all there is know about you. Each time we have spoken we always end up talking about deep issues life, love and family." "I know everything turns so serious but I guess that's just us. We take life too seriously." "So let's move off the serious stuff and talk about the house. The agent said that all the necessary paperwork will take 3 weeks to complete and then the house will be in my name legally. However the current owners do not object to us starting work in the house from next week. So why don't we meet up next weekend to get the colouring of the house sorted and that will take a week to complete. The following weekend sort out the furniture and the last weekend just add the finishing touches. This way the house will be complete by the time it is put into my name. Is that okay with you I know I'm asking a lot by making you give up your own time and I will pay me for all your troubles?" "Pay me?" Prachi exclaimed, "I can't help you anymore." "Why?" Milind asked baffled by Prachi's reaction. "I thought we are friends?" "We are..." Milind stressed. "Then why are you going to pay me? You asked for my help and not for me to work for you. If we are friends that you'd never offer me money it's just not a thing you do in friendship." Prachi was hurt by Milind's words. "I'm sorry Prachi I knew I shouldn't have said that but I thought that we have just become friends and that I was just pushing the friendship too far. I thought you might think I'm taking advantage of our friendship. I'm so sorry." Milind apologised feeling terrible for making Prachi upset. "Didn't you say that you felt like you knew everything about me? Then you would have known that I would help you no matter how big or small the task and don't need money in return. I know we haven't been friends for that long but that doesn't matter."
"I'm sorry Prachi; forgive me considering it my first stupid mistake and I promise I will not pay you even a penny." Milind held his ears pulling an adorable expression to which Prachi couldn't help but smile. "Fine it's ok. Now getting back to the house the plan of action sounds good and I'm really looking forward to it." Milind looked at his watched and was surprised to see how fast time had flown, "Prachi I got to go now but I'll give you a lift home." "Thanks but I am going somewhere else close by." "Ok, I'll call you in the week sometime. Bye" "Bye." And both went their separate ways feeling joyful about their meeting.
Milind and Prachi talked into the early hours of the morning without realising how fast time had flown with their chatter. Milind had found not only a friend in Prachi but a therapist working through his feelings regarding Ayesha. In was near the end of the conversation when Milind made his breakthrough with the help of Prachi he realised he was never in love with Ayesha, he loved as a friend nothing more. The strong bond that he had shared with her, he assumed was love as he knew no other name for it but love. Feeling content Milind was able to have a few peaceful hours sleep before waking up for work.
Prachi awoke feeling happy that the previous night she had been able to help Milind and felt a real sense of satisfaction. She had enjoyed talking to him freely being able to share her opinion as she trusted Milind. He had won her trust from the first day where he had been so open and honest to her, also he took the time to listen to her not just unloaded his pain and left. She respected his friendship and he had in a way helped her miss Neev's presence a little less, though she still talked to Neev it wasn't the same their relationship had changed. Milind had awoken in a similar state though he had only had a few hours sleep he felt fresh and uplifted. It had taken him so long but finally he solved the riddle in his life, Ayesha was never his love just a case of misunderstanding. The Milind had guilt had felt for falling for his friend had gone. Talking to Prachi, Milind was able to share his hidden feelings and get to the truth of the matter. Ayesha had been his only female friend and he shared a close bond with not knowing what else it could be Milind assumed it be love. Never did he realise until now that Ayesha was not his friend but his best friend which led him to confusion. However now that things were clear Milind awoke excited by the new day as it brought new hope.
The rest of the week for Milind flew by with his improved mood which not only his family but colleagues noticed. With his mind lighter Milind found it easier focusing on his work and what seemed like major obstacles before were now small faults which could be easily solved.
