Hi Kash, your analysis is pretty interesting... I think I agree with you for the most part except your 1st point - not only Rajeev, Aamna and Shabbo but there were many interesting supporting characters in KTH and all were portrayed by capable actors like Eijaz Khan, and all.
Now actually I've a question, umm ok its on my sisters behalf who is this mega-super-duper DMG fan, can you shed some light on why it doesn't get high trps??? 😕 Because honestly, it seems to be extremely popular...

Several reasons I can think of straight away......

1. The show is maily targeted for viewers in the 10 - 25 age group. Both ...cast and storylines are also targets for this audience. Notice....no vamps, funny twists, only masti and romance with the odd drama thrown in. Therefore...mums, aunties, grannies, etc....would not be interested in watching this programme,.........so the targeted audience is limited....unlike Kyunki Saas....which targets the entire family audience.

2. Its shown on Star One.......which was set up to capture younger audiences.....most of the programmes shown on this channel are for younger viewers.

3. The programe is repeated so often....that the audience is fractured......if you don't see it at your normal time....its going to be repeated 4 or 5 times in the same week....so you will be able to watch it at sometime.

4. The timing its aired at could also make a difference. The main show at primetime (8.30pm) is going against Kish Desh (Star Plus), Myaaka (Zee) and Jai Shri Krishna (Colors). DMG doesn't stand a chance against these hard-hitters.

5. TAM ratings currently are below 1.0. I think the shows TRPs have dipped in audience since the female made lead....Shilpa.....was replaced. TAM rating were above 1.0 when she was on board.

6. The storyline and setting is such that it is basically targeted at younger generation in the metros. Rural areas would not be interested in this show....they would not be able to identify with the setting or the cast which are protrayed as Hip and Happenin middle-class Yuppie generation.

No Hun....If its what I am thinking about .......Newscorp wouldn't have helped......they are absolutely useless at this kind of stuff...........you need a job at BT..........hopefully on Kayamath sets!!!! 😆
